Appreciating that Gal Gadot at present looks more in line with what Wonder Woman has looked like in comics for the past 30 years than she did previously is somehow a complaint about her body?

I guess not. I never really cared what she looked like as long she wasn't anorexic so I didn't really empathize with people who were appreciative of her new look. Now that I actually think about it, I can see why it would be important to someone who was really invested in her character.

Trevor in the comics has fulfilled that role, certainly, but more recently he's been sidelined quite a lot. So while getting ham-fisted romance is certainly a possibility, I think we're going to get something a lot different, used specifically because people are expecting it. The trailer alleged to that. Wonder Woman is not the kind of character for 'traditional' romances, and she clashes with Trevor quite badly.

Not after the New 52 reboot, she's not. She's now a demi-goddess, daughter of Zeus, didn't you know?

Also, I might just have been reading the wrong WW comics or watching the wrong cartoons, but Wonder Woman has never been hugely buff, except in very specific comics. She usually looks normal, if tall. So I don't get the 'she's too skinny' complaints. She usually is exactly like this in the comics.

I've got to agree with Rep on this one. I grew up on the Justice League show as a kid and the only ones with any muscles I can think of were Superman, Batman, Flash and maybe Martian Manhunter.

Besides, it's not like giving her some muscles is going to justify the face that she can lift things beyond even the strongest of humans.

    As for the romance...

She has a body of a super model rather than a warrior. I am not asking for big muscles bc WW rately had those, but a little toning and definition would help people visualize her as WW. Actors need to fit the part. Henry had to put at least 15 pounds of muscle to become superman. But GG look super thin and her arm and legs look like twigs. She is ready for a run way, not war

That always puzzled me, btw. Why does Superman have so many defined muscles? It's not like he works out or could even work out. He gets his strength because of bullshit and stuff, not exactly because he was training hard or anything. Batman makes sense, he trained his whole life. Wonder Woman as well, even though she also has bullshit magic giving her strength but she did train and whatnot. Superman...kinda didn't.

He could have the body of a lanky, super thin accountant and he would be just as strong, right?

In his current MoS incarnation, it's because of thousands of years of Kryptonian genetic engineering, I would guess.

During Flashpoint Pre-New 52, he was captured as a baby and raised in a lab underground, never have been exposed to the sun. He was skinny as a rail, and could barely move. Though that may have been from the constant experimentation and so forth. So they went with the 'sun causes muscles' excuse.

No, of course not. She's never really depicted as being hugely body-builder buff, except in some of the more modern stuff, particularly New 52.

But she's generally does always look like a warrior: like she could legitimately kick your ass (less so in the shows because animating muscle curvature is hard). Even in the classics when comic styles were more Archie-esque, you could see some significant upper body muscle.

Every artist draws her a little differently but this strip here is very accurate to the average trend through the ages:

'Extremely athletic, but not jacked' is I feel a fair middle-ground around which most modern artists draw attempt to draw her. This New52 basically:

Gal Gadot isn't quite at that point, but she's much much closer than she was before. With a reality filter applied, where she is now is about approximate to the level of muscle her male counterparts put on to get themselves looking like their muscle-popping Adonis comic counterparts.

    Edit:
P.S. Can we briefly discuss how absolutely fucking fantastic Wonder Woman: Rebirth is?

Lean and fit, but not jacked is the way I'd always pictured Wonder Woman and, to be honest, (at least to my eyes) Gal doesn't look that far off from it

Haven't read the rebirth series yet, are they worth it?

So good. The two artists have such different styles, but they're both fantastic. And the whole meta clouded multiple origin thing is really cool. Only on issue three though so we'll see if it can maintain quality.

thanks for the link, so far I am holding out hope that DC doesn't mess this one up like they have with the others and this trailer looks promising

So far DCCU are 0 for 3 in my tally. I'm not even cautiously neutral for this and Justice League.

Wow, the trailer looks amazing, makes me all pumped up for this. Might even grab this in the theaters.

I mean, yeah, Superman was crap, Batman v Superman was bad and Suicide Squad, while entertaining - mainly due to Smith and Robbie- was dumb, but I really have a good feeling for this one. Or at least, I am rather optimistic.

I liked Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. Haven't seen Suicide Squad yet.

These trailers look pretty good to me. I've always thought Wonder Woman was kind of... muddled, so I hope this portrayal can kind of straighten her out in my eyes.

So far DC has been mediocre if compared to Marvel. But I'm curious as to when Marvel will finally include X-men into the fold.

I'll watch this coz Wonder Woman is just too dang hot. Too bad the costume isn't the same as the original if you know what I'm saying.;););)

Really? In my case this trailer has ensured that I won't be watching Wonder Woman since I really disliked it. I find it hard to describe what exactly is the problem - maybe it seems to cheesy? - but it, and especially the romance, simply didn't motivate me to watch this movie (in fact caused the opposite reaction).

Of course the fact that setting is in WW2 (?) doesn't help either since it is perhaps the most boring and unimaginative choice possible...

Pretty sure it's WW1, but correct me if I am wrong on this. Trench warfare seems to suggest that though.

The romance, yeah, not a fan of that either but seeing that there will be a 80-60 year jump after this movie, I guess they won't focus too much on it because unlike Lois Lane, that guy won't be a permanent addition to the current DC main crossover story line. The Wonder Woman movie is rather well contained in that regard. So, who knows, might make it work.

World War I. Which is odd since Wonder Woman was introduced as fighting in World War II, but I guess maybe they didn't want to draw too much comparison to Captain America.
