Depends on how he leaves, I think. If he leaves in the way that he was meant to, humanity will be all but wiped out by the maturing shards and no powers will be left afterwards since Scion will have taken them. If he retreats in the face of Super Saiyan Taylor chances are there will be powers (since we've already seen what appears to be a shard reproducing with that kid that had dreams about the Entities). If he randomly decides to leave or is convinced to do so he'll probably leave the shards alone as well.

 

I think yes. Think about it, though, they'd become a dying breed, a limited resource! That's almost the basis for a new story.

 

Relevant: what do people suppose happens when Taylor sleeps/falls unconscious? Like, her bug swarm still followed her last command before she was taken out of action before, but it seems like it would work differently with a human swarm.

Regent lost control whenever he succumbed to exhaustion and I'm worried that the same will happen to Taylor.

 

Between Taylor's disconnect from her body and it being the home stretch, I doubt she'll be alive long enough for us to find out.

What are people's thoughts on the sequel? I'd love for worm to get back to it's roots and have mayhem on a smaller scale. Agitation was one of my favourite arcs. Small time villains trying to get by and Taylor still figuring out her powers.

 

I agree. While it's awesome to have Worm on this scale, my favorite arcs hands down were when Skitter was figuring out how to use her silk lines. When she was taking on three capes at once and incapacitating them.

 

Also, her swarm needs toilet breaks, food, water, sleep, etc. It's no good having your clairvoyant or doormaker collapse.

 

Sadly, there's a very real possibility that she might be dead before this becomes an issue.

 

Doormaker doesn't need to sleep. That was established by tattletale a couple of chapters ago.
I think if Taylor took control of panacea or bone saw again they could rid her of her need to sleep. So that's not too hard.

 

Yeah I feel like Skitter's not planning on having hold of all these capes for too long. I doubt she can even tell if they're hungry, sleep, or tired - her conceptions of them seem to do more with their abilities and a manipulation of their bodies.

 

Wow, Weaver just took control of everyone except Sleeper, the Endbringers and Scion. I didn't see the Three Blasphemies or the Ash beast mentioned, so I don't think she took them.


And Weaver is officially the scariest person around. She's taken control of Glaistig and by extension Eidolon. I guess this is where the real fight starts, everyone vs Scion.

 

Aside from Holy sheet, what else is really there to say? I liked how tragic the start was, how she's cut off from basic human understanding, how she's seriously multiplying her power to multitask with those bugs, how she didn't want to control Tattletale, how...

I really hope there is a Thursday update.

Is Tattle protecting Panacea or Taylor by not letting Taylor control Panacea? I'm thinking the latter.

Yeah, that quote was somewhat chilling. I mean goddamn, I guess she finally got her endgame in the most horrid fashion possible.

 

Did anyone else laugh when she casually opened a portal and sent Dragon's lightning to Scion? For some reason that conjured up an image of Scion looking bewildered while searching around for who hit him.

 

Wait, who is Sleeper? Also, poor, poor Taylor, rapidly turning into Cthulhu. Final showdown is going to be amazing, but will there really be anything left after?

 

We don't really know much about Sleeper but from what we do know he sounds terrifying. First off the first time he was mentioned it was alongside the likes of The Endbringers. The next we hear of him Sleeper has apparently subsumed an entire world. Finally we catch up to the present where Skitter has apparently decides he'll be more trouble than he's worth, keeping in mind she then immediately decided to take on the Fairy Queen and had earlier waged a war against Dragon for the leftovers in the birdcage. Oh and apparently he likes to read books to himself while lounging in armchairs.

 

Poor Sundancer, poor Genesis, they thought they were done. Poor everybody else.

But there is still hope! The Simurgh is yet free!
(And Contessa might be free, she wasn't mentioned.)

It's a sad day.

 

Taylor went down a (very) slippery slope here and now controls everyone. In any other circumstance I would say that she has become the bad guy. That she sacrificed too much.

But... they were already losing.
The only reason they weren't all wiped out yet, was that Scion was holding back. Nobody seemed to have an alternative than just continuing the fight while getting weaker and weaker.
This is at least a chance for survival.

Usually "the ends justify the means" is a terrible heuristic to use. This time the alternative was for everyone to die. In this situation the ends actually do justify the means.

 

This entire arc is both fantastic and utterly terrifying. Anyone else like that Taylor still has it in for Tinkers?
