Talk about supreme evil. Taylor basically just mind controlled the human race. In any other context this would be absolutely horrifying. Actually, I take it back - it still is atrocious. Thing is we've been with Taylor so long that we can see her perspective, and her frustration, even if her actions have dipped into total insanity.

There's no way this is ending well. Calling it now. Contessa is going to kill Taylor after she takes care of Scion. Tattletale will be there, but won't even try to stop her. The entire time Skitter will be trying to say something, maybe an apology. She'll be denied the dignity of any last words, the only thing people will remember are her actions.

This seems like a plausible ending actually.

    Very Depressing.
Par the course, I guess. |:

How is this worse than conscription in defense of your country?

Unless you think she actually lowered their chances by doing this. But I don't think so. They gave it their best shot. Cauldron tried Plan A through F (or however many contingencies they had in place) without success. The Endbringers didn't help. (Or maybe this Taylor is the Simurgh's contribution.) A large proportion of the capes willing to fight were already killed.

There wasn't anything else left to try. How was this the wrong thing to do?

Seriously? There's end justifies the means, but this is horrific on a scale that goes way beyond conscription. This isn't just conscription; this is outright slavery.

Termporary slavery is still preferable to the complete destruction of all earths and Scion moving on to the next world.

Actions can both be horrific and pragmatic. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

So as I said in another thread, while I stopped reading Worm at the thirteenth arc because I just lost steam, I did hear about what comes after. Particularly, I heard it goes completely off the rails, and not in a good way. Curiosity got the better of me recently and I looked ahead to see what happens.

Suffice to say, I agree with what I heard. My interest in this story is pretty much dead. I might read ahead to that time skip at some point, but not after that. What a waste.

Isn't that the Slaughterhouse Nine section? Also known as "the point when Worm stopped being good and started being awesome"?

I guess people like different things. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The last few arcs have been really excellent, in my opinion. Some people might have issue with the scale of events, but I think that it's well managed.

Aside from the timeskip, that is. Needs to be reworked and added to.

Oh, no, what I'm referring to is everything that seems to happen after the time skip that I don't like. Hence why I said I wouldn't read past the time skip if/when I picked it up again.

Eh, your loss man. As Howdy said it actually got better and the only plausible complain I've seen so far is the scale just became gigantic(we went from one parallel earth to every single one of them, just as an example).

Different strokes I guess, although I would suggest you give a few chapters a read just to make sure.

That was a great chapter. Interesting that Contessa is a blind spot to the Clairvoyant.

Alexandria's death was suitably epic. She wasn't blasted into oblivion-- she had to get physically torn apart, for minutes. That's a ridiculous level of durability.

So Foil's power is something Scion is wary of, interesting. The Bastard fakeout was cool.

Overall, a bunch of great moments. I felt that Doormaker's power going out at the end was a massive copout though. It's a weird way to put him out of commission. Why didn't he die instead?

Considering that the alternative was humanity being wiped out of existence, all off humanity, parallel worlds and all, I can't exactly say it was the wrong decision. It's slavery, it's a grave violation and it's murder and arrogance on a ridiculously large scale.

And it was still the necessary thing to do.

Because there was no time for Taylor to sit down with everyone and convince them. There was no possibility that everyone would set aside their differences, as we have seen again and again when people acted liked selfish douchebags instead of concerning themselves with the survival of the human race.

And there was no way to coordinate them the way Taylor did if they wanted to have a chance with their large number of powers.

I have no doubt that if Taylor were to survive Scion's death, that a lot of people will be pissed, feel violated, be traumatized and mentally broken and they will loathe Taylor, rightfully so.

Yet the alternative was that humanity dies. As such, I can't really blame Taylor. Not doing what she did would have been even more evil. If she could have saved humanity but didn't because it would have been amoral.

I know no one is going to thank her for mindcontrolling them, their friends and peers and sending them out to die and emotionally break against a god, and yes, it's definitely wrong on so many levels but at the same time, factually speaking, it was the right thing to do.

One of the reasons I love Worm so much.

But yeah, despite all that, I doubt that the survivors are going to let Taylor live. Even if they agree 100% with what she did, kinda difficult to let someone live who could enslave humanity at a moments notice, even if that someone is the one person who has their best interest in mind.

I also doubt that Taylor would want to survive this, actually. She might just kill herself, seeing that always did have certain feelings of that regard and her actions now, alongside the loss of a good chunk of her humanity, would only increase that feeling.

So, yeah, intense chapters that are hard to read as a Taylor fan. Just want her to get out of this okay and maybe control her own territory/world in the sequel while being awesome with Imp, Rachel and Tattletale but how big are the chances of that happening? D:

I actually kind of liked it. I mean afterall we've already had a different case of a cape using too much power and running out of juice, Eidolon, so this didn't come too far out of left field. After all Skitter was utilising the Doormaker's abilities to do things they were probably never intended to do. Plus I felt it fit together well with the other unintentional consequences her actions were having. Such as that cape who had a stroke.

This is why he feared Foil more than all of the ranged attacks combined.

Anyway, suitably epic chapter as was expected. Now it is up to the capes themselves to try and work it out, unless shade Eidolon can somehow refill Doormakers reserve although I doubt Glaistig Uaine would let herself be vunerable to enslavement again and it wouldn't fit the flow of the story.

While I'm not sure, the "easy" fix is to kill doormaker and have GU summon him as a ghost. This assumes that Taylor can force GU to summon doormaker just like Taylor had GU use Eidolon and that GU's shard can power doormaker's power even though his personal shard has run empty.

Worm-verse logic says that there's no such thing as an easy fix through, so that's probably unlikely.
