I couldn't help picturing her as EDI from Mass Effect.

I'm really not a fan of these of epilogue chapters so far.

Rachel/Bitch's epilogue was my least favorite of the epilogue chapters, with Valkyrie/Ciara/Glaistig Uaine being my favorite of them. I find it a little hard to identify with Bitch, though. I want to catch up with Tattletale, I hope we see her in an epilogue chapter.

Keep in mind that most of these epilogue chapters are fan-requested, not Wildbow chosen. I too was disappointed that Bitch got her own epilogue, because quite frankly I don't think she even ranks in my top 20 of people I wanted to see, but maybe I should have donated.

Regardless, I think that Wildbow did a decent job of showing us some other characters we probably like seeing (MM and Vista) and also introduced a new element to the (possible?) sequel. Triggers aren't working right in a good chunk of people, causing big problems.

I'm enjoying them for what they are. The only epilogue I want to see is one that sheds more light on the final confrontation with Contessa.

D&D had the best epilogue so far, even if I did enjoy getting a check in with Bitch.

So I've been re-reading the arc where Taylor surrenders to PRT, and now I'm wondering: Has it ever been explained why neither Defiant and Alexandria could get an accurate read on Taylor or tell when she was lying? It's implied that Taylor doesn't have microexpressions - was her body actually under the unconscious control of her power all along, or what?

Defiant stated the reason explicitly in that arc. "Much, I expect, for the same reason my lie detector could never seem to. She was working with bad information..."

Imp later implied Taylor outsources facial expressions to her bugs.

You are talking about different things. Defiant's lie detector didn't fail at all the problem was that Taylor changed her mind.

As for Alexandria she didn't really fail either the way Taylor's powers work means that effectively the insects are part of her body and thus she incorporates expressions that no one can read because no one has any experience with such. Even then Alexandria did manage to do what she wanted to which was to make Taylor attack her, she simply didn't believe Taylor could actually kill her.

A lot of people will probably be pissed at how well Teacher did in that epilogue, but frankly he's a pretty cool villain and I hope we'll be seeing him for the sequel. It would kind of be a shame if he just got owned with the scattered Epilogue chapters.

It was cool seeing some of his plans get ruined, but it's also cool seeing how some of them look like they might work.

Also, nice to see the Simurgh. She was always the coolest Cosmic level Worm villain anyways (fuck you Scion).

Yeah I didn't really like this one. I'm actually not as rabidly anti-Teacher as many fans seem to be, but this segment just fell a little flat. The only really cool bit for me was the whole deal with the Simurgh. Who, yes, is still one of the most interesting characters in Worm.

The Simurgh was creating an Eidolon clone, using Bonesaw/Blasto's knowledge?

Awesome - but the only interesting thing about the chapter, otherwise.

I found this chapter lacklustre largely because it seems to be set-up for the eventual sequel, with little resolution of major plot points and mostly more questions being raised. Only one chapter left before Worm is finished entirely though, so we probably won't see any real answers till the sequel. Goddammit.

As a character he is pretty cool but as a person in Wormverse? He plotted genocide and mass mind control it is hard to do worse evil than that.

Eh, Taylor almost did both of these. (Genozide of parahumans by sending them against Scion).

Teacher was a lot more mellow then I thought he would be. Still messing around with stuff better left alone though. Teacher's apparently trying to build an entity. With Contessa looking in. Anybody else thinking she'll just kill him if he ever gets close?

Why is Satyrical working for Teacher anyway? And Lung, Iguene and Marquis are going straight back to villiany.

I doubt even Satyrical knows what Satyrical is doing anymore, much less anyone else (including Teacher).

Satyrical is in love with Teacher. Lung is acting as a mercenary in the latest chapter.

I dislike Teacher because he's established as being essentially infallible. "Plans A and B didn't work? Good thing I have plans C through Z, followed by plans AA through ZZ to cover my bases."

I think of this more as Teacher justifying his many fuckups and calling himself infallible than actually being infallible. Guy did get Birdcaged for like a decade or so.

Well, it's over now. The final chapter of Worm is up, and I've read it. As with every really great book I've read, I teared a bit at the ending, less because of the ending but more because I feel... lost, now. Just a little bit. What will I do with this extra forty-five minutes a week that I used to read Worm? Man, it's really... over.
