Wisp watches Zephyr dash off and just sighs again and looks over at Nimbus and Martian. "Yeah... He's still kiiiiinda touchy about this whole thing, he tries to act tough about it all but this whole 'being declared a villain thing' has really gotten to him. And well, no offence, you pushing at him was only going to end one way, with him running away from his problems."

Wisp starts to walk in the direction that Zephyr ran off. "So yeah, it was nice meeting you g tuys and shit, but well, Zephyr prooooobably isn't paying much attention to where he's going right now so I should make sure that he doesn't do anything stupid. Also, still haven't gotten dinner yet, so uh, you guys got like, a minute before I'm out of here."

@Wisp: The Martian glares at you steadily through the large eyeholes in his mask.

"You, I do not like." The rumbling tone of his voice makes it sounds more like a threat than anything else. "Zephyr is good kid. You lead him astray, I take it out on you."

(Intimidation social attack on Wisp. Rolled a 3. Rapport is the default defence for social attacks.)

He begins to float away, gesturing for Nimbus to follow.

For his part the kid Tinker just shakes his head, gives you a look full of suspicion and makes a small motion with his feet. His flight disc tilts to one side and begins to head in the Martian's direction at a fairly quick pace.

(You have enough time for a parting shot, if you want to take it.)

(Eventually rolled a 2 for my deceit defence, so that's one social stress)
Wisp stopped cold once he heard Martian speak and slowly turns around to face him.

"I'm sorry, I must have misheard you or something, but from the sounds of it, you're making it sound like I'M the bad influence here. Which I find pretty hilarious considering y'know, some of us have been going out of their way to be polite and helpful, whilst others are just throwing around accusations and insults, so uh, right back at you buddy. And after that, Wisp creates a large explosion to mask him slipping away to follow Zephyr.

    Scene Change

Everyone: A nervous tension is in the air as the day of the heist approaches. Various grunts and bangs can be heard from Dynamo's workshop in the basement. The TV in the living room is turned up loud enough that it can be heard down the street, never mind next door. And nobody wants to know what the sounds are coming from Wisp's room. Let's just hope he's practising with his power.

When the day finally arrives it is with both a sense of relief and a certain amount of trepidation amongst the group. The day seems to drag as you while away the hours alternately talking over the plan and finding other things to distract yourselves.

Backblast is due to start his big distraction about half an hour before you're due to hit the casino. Enough time for the heroes to focus on him, giving you more time to work on clearing the vault.

Now is the time for any last minute changes or errands.

(Also, when do you guys want to hit the casino? Early evening? Late night? Dawn? During shift change?)

"HEAR YE HEAR YE!" I attempt to shout over the television. "Oh, fuck this." I grab the remote, mute the TV, and quickly shout "If we don't have a name in half an hour, I'm going to tell anyone who asks that we're calling ourselves '4 Guys and Zephyr!'"

I unmute the TV, and wait, hoping for the sounds of feet on stairs.

    READ THE OOC THREAD FIRST

@Everyone: After much argument and little conclusion, you decide that a name isn't particularly important at this point in time and that the hour of the heist is nearly upon you. So it is with both fear and anticipation that you head on your way to the abandoned building, the starting point for your entrance to the casino.

The building looks much the same as you left it before and the door doesn't appear to have been used. You enter and find that the basement door is open and the reek of rotting waste has filled the entire ground floor. It makes for an uncomfortable wait as Fissure's power seeps into the area.

@Rosetta: A little before you're due to head off, you receive a text message. The distraction has gone ahead and the Suits are focused away from the casino.

@Fissure: Your power takes time to seep into the area, giving you a mental map of everything non-metallic within a kilometre of you. Your shaker power takes longer to reach its maximum range, but you feel comfortable just working with your limited senses and effect if it means getting away from this smell.

(Compel on Lazy Talent. Creating this tunnel is easy, but working your way around the massive number of pipes and wires is difficult, especially when they're made of metal. So you decide to just cut through instead. Not your problem if it breaks something. How about it?)

(Also, if you're looking to make a tunnel through the security net without being noticed it'll be an opposed Incite Effect Manoeuvre against the security guy's Alertness.)

(Bit of a difference between laziness and stupidity. That said, spending fate point to avoid it. Rather not rip open a huge pipe and come back to a massively flooded tunnel.)

I force all the garbage and waste to the sides of the room, compacting it to make sure it doesn't spill into the tunnel (at least for a while), and step to the now-clean centre.

Pipes are someone else's problem, aren't they? Hrm... Nah, water pressure might drown us all later. Sigh...

    Compacting... Shifting... Stablising...

    "Guys, get on the platform."

I crack a circle into the ground, clearly demarcating what I mean, as below me, soil and rock and foundations shift and bend to form a stable tunnel. About 40 metres down, I create a larger area, a checkpoint, if you will, before shifting the tunnel angle to face the casino.

"Okay guys, here's the recap of the plan for those of you that weren't here at the time. To start things off, Fissure will make a tunnel to the edge of the security net and I'll go down with him once Fissure feels that he's ready, he'll take down everything electronic in the basement of the casino. Straight after he's done that, Dynamo will send in these gas grenades using Fissures info to target the employees, with the security systems guy being the priority target. Speaking of which, Fissure, going to need you to be eyes for us again kay?

Once you guys have finished with your part, I'll make a smaller tunnel from Fissure to the vault, where I'll start to move the loot from it down to Fissure. Whilst I'm doing so, Fissure will be on the lookout for any odd movements in case we missed anybody on the inside, he'll also be transporting the loot away from the casino back here, where Dynamo and Rosetta will be waiting for it.

Meanwhile, Zephyr, you're on lookout duty, if you happen to see any capes or cops or anything sus coming in, tell us straight away."

Wisp steps onto the platform next to Fissure "Any questions?"

I step forward slightly, arms crossed. "If you need extraction, radio me and I can drop you off in the bolt hole I found or wherever you're needed. Otherwise, I'll be on patrol, probably spending most of my time looking at the police station."

The platform descends smoothly down the tunnel, stopping in a barren square room with a tunnel leading horizontally away.

"Guys, unfortunate as it may be, but my powers don't extend to the point where we can float all the way there. We've gotta walk the rest of the way. We'll have to make intermittent stops to let me extend the tunnel, though I'll let you all know when we're near though to start any last minute prep work."

"Like I said before, just get me to the edge of the security net and we'll go from there."

(I'm assuming that I'm the only one going with Fissure and that when Fissure and Dynamo roll their attacks on the security, they'll be able to take time from the fact that we've been here the entire day setting up, which in Fissure's case would be letting his power sink in and for Dynamo having him Math out the best way to send the grenades in.)

"All right, let's get this over with. Good luck."

I teleport back to the entrance and restart my patrol from last week, this time taking care to stay more out of sight while heading toward the police station.

Midair, I mumble to myself "Might as well get this over with. 'What could possibly go wrong?'" and laugh quietly.

    Dynamo

Dynamo shakes his head at Wisp. "Just be careful not to touch anything. The traffic's going to mess with the vibration sensors a bit, but they're still going to be pretty sensitive. You should try not to touch anything that looks metallic. Who knows what alarms might be set off otherwise."

He touches a control panel on his arm and the dark blue glove on his hands emits a whirring noise, glowing a faint white through the cloth on the palm.

(Scholarship manoeuvre to set teleportation co-ordinates: Target Locked)

"I've set the co-ordinates to enter into fat boy's room. I'll launch the grenades in when we get a bit closer, Fissure can take out the security system, then we can hit the Vault."

@Zephyr: You skulk across the rooftops, trying to make as little of your presence known as possible.

(Make a Stealth roll to avoid being seen by the local nightowls. Difficulty: 3)

You cover the ground between the house and the police station quickly, noting that the majority of the vehicles are away from the carpark. London is a lot quieter than it used to be, these days, but that hasn't stopped the crime rate from being one of the highest in the country. Another legacy of Behemoth; most of the CCTV cameras in a wide swath of the city were disabled by his ambient radiation, either physically burnt out or their electronics fried by his mere presence.

You circle around away from there, turning back towards the casino and where you met up with the Swords. They aren't there tonight, but you do see a couple doing something very interesting on a rooftop across the street. You don't feel worried about them seeing you. You doubt they would notice if you jumped right over them at the moment.

You give a chuckle as you pass them, sparing half an eye as the girl shows some rather nice curves. Then you see a bright flash of light off to the west, followed shortly by a basso rumble as a plume of flame reaches one, two, three hundred feet into the air.

    That would be the signal.

@Fissure/Wisp/Dynamo: You feel the explosion as a deep reverberation in the ground. Fissure's tunnel shakes for a few moments and you all feel a sudden primal wave of claustrophobia come over you as dust and dirt drop to the floor.

A few more seconds pass but the tunnel doesn't seem ready to collapse.

Dynamo heaves a sigh of relief. "What's the bets that was Backblast at work?"

"I don't take sucker bets. Guys, this is it. Time for me to get to work."

Mentally preparing by taking a deep breath, I make use of the preparations made while waiting for Backblast's explosion, surrounding everything vaguely electronic and crushing it.

(Time to make a roll of ???. After spending the whole day figuring out how to do it while waiting, I figure there might be a time bonus somewhere.)

(Rolled 1 vs nightowls noticing me.)

"Well, at least there was SOMETHING interesting up here." I mumble, staring off at the new light source. "I wonder how much they needed to make that explosion that big."

Oh, right, standing on the edge of a rooftop, lit up and staring at an explosion, in full cape gear, wearing a sword, during the night isn't sneaky. Shit.

I glance around furtively, hoping that no one noticed. Knowing London, someone probably did. "Well, so much for flying under the radar."

Finding a spot with a little more cover, I radio in. "Lot at the police station is mostly empty, looks like they're busy tonight. Area looks clear of capes as well. I assume the giant explosion was our signal?"

Feeling out for each strange blank around the vault, the wire netting, the oddly shaped "sensors", getting a firm grasp on each glass tube making a light source... and twisting them. Tear the wires out of place, shatter the glass and destroy the lights, crush the sensors with sheer pressure and utterly destroy them, make them useless.

@Fissure: The surveillance system crumbles to dust under the pressure of several thousand tons of earth, the naturally delicate nature of Tinkertech making it that much easier to ruin it.

You sense the man in the security room jump from his seat, his hands groping blindly for the controls of the very expensive piece of junk in front of him. When nothing happens he reaches into his pocket and draws out a flashlight, which naturally doesn't turn on either. You can practically feel the groan as he realises what's happened.

That doesn't stop him from opening the door to the security room and poking his head out. He ducks back in a moment later and begins fumbling under the desk for what you assume is a metal panel, as that entire segment of the machine is invisible to you.

He succeeds a moment later, his clothes moving a way that suggests he is throwing something to the side. A second man enters the room, one of the security guards, and hands the fat man a tube of some kind. The fat man bends it in the middle and looks into the machine again.

    Then Dynamo acts.

@Dynamo: Fissure gives a running commentary as he destroys the sensitive Tinker equipment, which causes Dynamo to wince in sympathy. Who knows how long it took to get that security net set up, and now it's gone in seconds.

Other than that he just looks nervous, his hands shaking slightly as he taps out buttons on his gauntlet control console. He fishes out a couple of grenades and slots one of them into a small cradle that forms part of his gauntlet. A pressed button later there's a flash and the grenade is gone. He repeats the action a moment later and checks his console again.

(Scholarship roll with a difficulty of 6. Tagging Target Locked. Aiming to apply the Stage Aspect Sleeping Gas to the security room. Scored a freaking 10 and immediately Tags for Effect to have everyone in the room be knocked out. This deserves something special.)

Unbeknownst to Dynamo, but immediately obvious to Fissure, another security guard had entered the room a moment after he launched the first grenade, closing the door behind him. Just as that happens the second grenade teleports in and the first erupts into a cloud of noxious, dizzying gas.

    (Rolling Endurance. Difficulty: 10. Lol.)

The Tinker and two guards flail about for a few moments, one of the guards trying to open the door and get out, but the gas is too quick acting for him to do more than grope blindly for the handle. All three collapse to the ground and twitch for a moment or two before falling still.

@Shade: You wait in the shadows by the casino, unnoticed and alone, as the group of thieves make their assault upon the Tinker and his defences. Your shadow sight gives you perhaps the best view of the situation that one could hope for, especially when Fissure takes out the lights. A few moments later the grenades land and the Tinker is down along with two guards.

You realise that if you had ever wanted to rob a vault, now would be the time to do it. Security is down, the lights are out and nobody is opening that vault door without heavy duty equipment.

Hmm. Well, that was inarguably impressive, but entirely too easy. This little crew was using their abilities to their fullest, and it was looking like they were overqualified for the job. Unfortunately, Oliver couldn't see any real hurdles to cross. The authorities were distracted, the cape in charge of security was down, and they had any number of ways to fill their pockets and go to ground.

This looked like a pretty strong group, and one worth joining, but he had one last thing to check - how would they respond to something they didn't prep for? Additionally, casually taking a little cash could serve as an indicator of his own skills... And hell, if he was being honest, all of this watching was just boring.

With that thought, he concentrated for a second in the safety of the Compact, Shadowy Alcove he had claimed, and reappeared in the shadowy recesses of the vault. Good, he was here first. God, instantaneous teleportation was an astounding thing sometimes. He'd see what their watcher thought about that! He cast an eye over the vault, looking at the treasures within, then waited on company. Tonight was about to get interesting.

(Rolled a 4, used my free tag on that alcove to boost to 6)

Upon getting the all clear from Dynamo and Fissure, Wisp shifts into his air form and starts to tunnel towards the vault. His tunneling doesn't last very long though as he reaches the vault in only a few moments, apparently Fissure had decided to get them closer now that the security system was down. Awesome.

Once he entered the vault, Wisp waited a moment for his eyes to adjust to the fact that Fissure fucked up all the lights and it was dark as shit in there. Not really much to look at, money everyfuckingwhere, along with other valuables, creepy dude standing in the corner, more than a vaults and... Wait. Creepy dude in the shadows? Usually when somebody says 'It's all clear' they mean, there's no random people waiting in the vault. Might be a good idea to clear that up with Fissure later, miscommunication can be awkward sometimes.

It's cool though, Wisp assumed that they wouldn't be able to get all the security in the first strike, which is why he had Dynamo get multiple grenades. All he needed to do was head back down to the tunnel and etch into the side "1 in the vault, possible cape, gogo gas grenade" and they should be able to take it from there.
