And be able to use magic? Hell yeah, I'll worry about the dark lord later.

With the knowledge after reading the books, no. The concept of having an horcrux inside of me and some mental connection to Voldemort would be enough to nauseate me.

It would be different if I would know only as much as Harry when he reached Hogwarts for the first time. Who wouldn't want to be able to perform magic and famous.

No way, not even the chance to use magic would convince me.

11 year old Harry Potter? Nah, not really. Stresses of fame and unfair expectations do not suit me. Being a random child who suddenly learns of magic seems alright though.

I think I wouldn't do it. The payout is pretty big but it would mean losing my life here, living with the dursley and then surving Hogwarts before starting to get any real advantage.
Now If I had the chance to switch with a backgrund character(meaning minimal risks, with the possibility of staying abroad and avoiding the whole Voldemort mess) that would be a different question...

If I kept my mind, I probably would. Who wouldn't want a chance to be 11 again? And with magic :O ?
If, on the other hand I would be just as clueless as Harry, then... hmm, probably not.

    Absolutely not.

Any other random kid at any other time post second war? Yes. But Harry's life was miserable throughout his early years, I would probably break and wouldn't handle it. :(

No, Harry's life is hard. Even though he knows magic, and that's cool. Harry lived a hard and miserable life, it would add to the sadness in my life. He also faced many things that would make grown men shiver in fear. A basilisk? No way. A gigantic snake that can look at you and die? Hell, no! And Voldemort? Don't even get me started on that. A man that tries to kill me on all of the years of my education except for third? No way, if it wasn't for plot, I would probably die in my second year.

It depends on what exactly the question is.

Is it that my consciousness gets trasnported to an 11 year old (Or even 1 year old) Harry's mind and I'm powerless to do anything until canon as we know it is over (Voldermort's death/epliogue)?

Or is it that I take over Harry's mind and body? Able to do whatever (*Cough* Whoever) I wish. Of course, you have tot ake into account if you have knowledge of future events or not.

In all fairness, in both scenarios, I would happily jump at the chance. I'm the kind of person that always wants to be better, smarter, more powerful. It honestly surprises me that the muggle raised tudents aren't more interested in learning magic.

If I can keep my mind and knowlegde, maybe. Hard too say while magic is nice and knowing stuff can make ky life easier then Harry's but still Harry's life is pretty bad so hard to say.

If I don't keep my knowlegde than 100% no. Nothing could convince me to live such a hard life.

Dont really see a reason to trade my good early years to terrible ones. No not even in exchange for magic. I live an comfortable life and do not really fancy a war. Especially not one where I am the main target. I mean magic is all cool but dieing (or atleast being in mortal danger like 17 years) for it is totally not worth it.

If it involves keeping all my knowledge of the HP-verse, then maybe - it still won't be a cakewalk, but I think that gives me enough of an advantage that I can survive the war and then be able to enjoy the life of magic. And even if I don't... well, at least I'll have gone out in an interesting way.

Now, if it was just literally becoming Harry Potter and go through everything he did the same way... then absolutely not.

There's a lot of ifs in this thread. How about this?

Your mind is thrown into Harry's body just before he meets Hagrid. You've read the books and know what is supposed to happen. Where do you go from there? Let the timeline progress knowing you might suffer but it will ultimately be pretty ok?

Or use your knowledge with the risk of messing everything up?

This is a very bad situation.

Because I would presumably be still a Horcrux and have to die. And I would most likely not be able to come to life like Harry.

I would use the knowledge, because I do not believe that I can trust everything to happen exactly as it did in the books - there is just too much that we actually don't know, and the who knows if some event that was not mentioned in the book ends up cause massive changes later on due to butterfly effect.

If things are going to be different, I'd rather have it change due to my actions that are specifically designed to set things on a different path.

Probably not, but it depends on if I remember my life until I became Harry. If I did, I wouldn't because it just wouldn't be fun, but if I didn't, I probably would because magic.

I don't think I'd be capable of doing everything the same as it was even if I wanted to. Like I can try and make sure everything that was shown in the books happened but at some point I'd do something slightly different to Harry and it would just butterfly effect.

I'd just have to back myself that I'd be able to make things better. At the very least I'd make a fortune gambling on quidditch.

There is absolutely no point in trying to 'keep the timeline'. You don't know every second of Harry's life — and even if you had the information, you'd probably not be capable of remembering complete 7 years of somebody else's life — so naturally, you'd make "mistake" somewhere, and it would indoubtedly snowball from there.

Also, the horcrux? Get Fawkes, some Basilisk poison, and presto — problem solved. (possibly. Depends on your headcanon.)

That won't work. It's canon that a horcrux is destroyed only if the object is destroyed beyond physical or magical repair. It's the same reason why Harry's horcrux did not get destroyed in the CoS event.
