    I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of tentacle-person arise from the ocean floor and start sucking off faces with gigantic suction cups.

    But I'd like it to be written in a believable manner. Not just, "Loltheyarethemostpowerfulbeingsaroundbutdontwanttheworldbecause..."

    I doubt magical people have searched the entire ocean depths, so that can work in their favor.

    That actually reminds me of a plot idea I had which would revolved around a merman (of the siren variety, not the ugly ones) OC who found a wand and kept it (which is against the law). Merpeople are definitely an underused aspect of HP IMO.
