Your submission for Cho is very nice, Knox, but I need to see more body to judge fairly. She could be hiding a very large hump behind that blanket, or a festering boil with a four inch curly hair growing out of it. Best not to vote on the unknown.

Okay. I'll recommend a story posted some five years ago on Fiction Alley by Horst Pollmann called Harry Potter and the Flying Squad, and here are it's rating and summary:

Fifth year in Hogwarts. Even before terms start, Harry is involved in the defence against an evil attack from the Dark Forces, something which ``later will be called 'The Hogwarts Express Accident' ...``In Hogwarts, many things are different - most of all, the joining of all four``Quidditch teams in the 'Flying Squad', for patrol and exploration services.``For Harry, this looks like a path toward Cho Chang, except that - well, ``maybe this should really be left to the story itself ...``At any rate, expect Giants, Goblins, and house-elves to play their roles in ``this fic - as well as some new characters.

This story has been my favorite Harry/Cho story for years, but it's five years old, and I don't know if it's aged well.

 

Lets just face it: a lot of the actors for HP-movie were ugly.

I'm all for posting hot azn pics and all. And I could get behind a Harry/Su Li fanfic pairing push. But your clever pics won't fool me on the Harry/Cho pairing. You might as well be pushing Harry/Umbridge or Harry/fem!Snape. (Egads. That's a thought I'd never had before.)

Cho's just too awful and wretched a character in the early books I'd read before getting into fanfiction that my opinion of her is pretty set.

I liked seeing the Harry/Fleur push and resulting flood of fics. But if you're feeding the azn-loving anime fanboy hentai wanking otakus out there, do you need really to start from a base of a horrid, hated, punch line of a canon character?

There's a couple decent Harry/Cho fics, but they're almost all pre-OotP and have been mentioned already. And I can't even really read them anymore.

 

Nonjon, I agree with you 100% about Canon!Cho. That's why I would like to do away with her, pull her brain out, give it a nice scrub, and insert the All-New-And-Improved-Cho-Brain. I'm sure an author of your caliber can envision a way to change her character up to not be the insepid little crybaby that we all love to hate. Or perhaps AU a fic from 4th or 5th year.

It's not really that hard.

Azn-Fanboys aside, I'm doing my SerialKiller!Harry/Psycho!Cho because it was an easy pick. The story takes place in 5th year where Harry already has an attraction to her. Additionally, Harry already knows she's been tramatized and will be easily manipulated toward his own ends. Plus the bloody, limb-rendering death of Marietta will please me.

It's nowhere near having Fem!Snape.... and I hate you for that image in mah mind at the moment. I'm seeing Snape in a nice red and white polka-dotted sundress dancing through the tall grass. BAH! Bashturd! Mah EYEZ!

Regards to the the old Cho fics... almost all of them suck... badly. So help a girl out and give us a nice, short crack!fic with Harry and Cho. Think of it as being cathartic.

 

*Shudders* Nonjon, why the hell did you have to plant that thought in my mind? The HP/SS slash is bad enough, don't give the fangirls anymore ideas.

On topic, Harry/Cho is okay, but only if it is a replacement for OotP, not post-Ootp. For example, Betrayal of the Best Kind by Draco 664 was pretty decent.

It's not that it's hard. It's that I don't want to. And it'd take a recommendation or two before I'd even read a Harry/Cho fic.

Characters like Snape, Draco, Umbridge, Lucius, Romilda Vane, and Cho, I'm simply predisposed to disliking. I know a lot of DLP members feel the same way about Ginny. Even when the Ginny is completely different from canon, it's still grating simply due to your opinions of Ginny before ever reading the story.

Cho is one of those characters I enjoy hating. She makes a good punch line, or target for annoyance or minor abuse (Grawp/Cho anyone?). And like I don't care for redeemed!Draco or Snape, I also don't care for redeemed or rewritten!Cho.

I'm just saying Fleur's one of those characters that can go either way for most people (likable interesting character or vapid haughty hottie), but I know that I (and I'm assuming others) actively dislike Cho, regardless of how the author uses her.

I'm all for seeing more people write more good fic. And when they come with glowing recommendations, I expect I will like them. But it will be in spite of the Harry/Cho pairing, not because of it.

Alright. I'll stop pooping on your parade here and leave the comments and suggestions to the Harry/Cho fans.

 

I can't take an HP/Cho story serious. Cho's the girl you put on a pedestal in high school and hopefully, by your senior year, you're realizing very few girls should be put on a pedestal.

It was one of the few elements of the HP story that was rather nicely done. She was his first flame and it failed miserably because they're different people who aren't compatible.

A new Cho is just another term for OOC!Cho. I'm not as wholly impressed because the objective is to create a better character from one that already exists. ie, you're OOCing a character for the purposes of having Harry shack up and shag.

It's not dissimilar to what jbern did with Luna and what others do to good characters for the purposes of romance.

I understand it's fanfic but I'd be more impressed if HP was the only character changed and everyone worked around him as they would. If you need a character that's asian and isn't Cho, there's Su Li or you can string garbled words together to form a new character. Like Ching Bi Chong or something.

Oh well. I liked your H/Hr stories anyway .

 

I thought I might chime in and declare how much I hate Cho and all Asian chicks in general.

I can't fathom the obsession non-Asian guys have with them.

It's not even echoing Bio, who I agree immensely with. I'm talking physically, in terms of sheer sexual magnetism. It's just not there.

@ Bio - Almost all fics where Harry is involved with an Odd!Ship are OC's Su Li is almost a complete unknown yet would make a good ship? She'd be completely original; the same with almost all the girls we typically have Harry ship with. That's the point. You can make an OC and use a canon name and get away with OC'ing as long as you don't Mary Sue her to death.

And I know you love my H/Hr stories. You are a closet cliched romantic at heart, Bio. ;p

 

Well H/C would definitely be easier to write than a H/Fleur, from a cannon point of view, but I have to say the canon Cho sucks that much that this point doesn't count.

I mean c'mon what kind of babe talks about snogging her ex on the first date, or bawls her eyes out while snogging you. She is a psycho plain and simple.

The only fic where I could tolerate her was Dakaath: Prince of Darkness , which otherwise too is a top-fic if it wasn't for the dragged out plotline and the fact, that it has been abandoned.( It's got a nice asian OC too)
But that really was the only fic with H/Cho in it that I even read through.

Even H/Hr or H/Luna is better than this pairing. I simply can't like a character who tried to take advantage of Harry.
