This Plot bunny/Challenge came to me after reading the last book was the fact that the muggleborns in the story just rolled over or ran away instead
of standing up to the death eaters and useless ministry

    The idea is this

-sometime during Harry's 5Th year a group of muggleborn former hogwarts
students meet up to discuss the state of the British wizarding world

-they decide that things are not looking good having read the quibbler where harry saids that voldamort is back plus the fact that his followers have just broken out of azkaban.

-they then decide that if he is back they should be ready for it

-at the end of Harry's 5Th year when voldamort return is conformed the group meets again to decide what they are going to do about it

-they quickly decide that a few things need to be done

They need a way to get a large number of people out the country quickly mostly the younger hogwarts students and there family's. when it becomes clear to group that the Ministry is only reacting to the death eaters and not fighting back. The group decide they are not going to let voldamort and his death eaters have it all there own way. Over the next couple of months this group spend there time contacting anybody they know with military or security service experience for advice, Setting up safe houses gathering supply's, information on death eaters ecter. Buy the end of the 6th book there numbers have grown to over a hundred people willing to fight back against the death eaters and they are almost ready. Then Dumbledore
dies and they start moving people into hiding and out of the country.
When the ministry of magic falls they quickly move the rest of the muggleborns into hiding.

This is where Harry and co come into the story
they are rescued from the the two death eaters in the restaurant buy some Resistance members and taken back to a safe house.
where they are informed of whats has been happening over the last two years. When the group tell the trio of there plan to eventually destroy the Ministry and the Wizengamot Ron calls them idiots and other things spouting of a load of crap about muggleborns not being smart enough to run a government this pisses of the group plus Harry & Hermione. Ron then starts saying that he won't let them do this and attacks the group but is quickly taken down. He is then questioned buy group with truth serum and they discover that he was only friends with Harry for the fame that it would bring him and that he helped Ginny dose Harry with love potion when he started getting close to Luna last year.

Hermione and Harry are appalled by what Ron has done. they decide that Ron is a liability and needs to be got rid of so they have to decide what to do with him.

From there onward what happens next is up to you
anyone interested in writing this story because i do not think i have the skill to get right.

    comments - suggestions ?

    Here's my rendition.

The muggleborns launch their uprising, but it fails utterly. All muggleborn combatants are slaughtered ten seconds into a battle. Every participant is tortured to death, which is ignored by Harry.

Seriosuly though, the ridding of Ron seems very transparent. If you incude it so that it finds greater acceptance in the forum, then you might as well not include it at all.

The way i see it happening would be something along the lines of for example.

In the Deathly Hallows you have hunters out looking for people who say Voldamorts name out loud the muggleborns would set up a trap where you have one place a nail bomb say Voldamort's out loud then start a ten second timer apparate or portkey away just before the hunters arrive the bomb goes off killing the hunters.

The idea being that they know that they will not be much of a match for the Death Eaters in combat so that they would avoid getting into a full blown fight with them. They would have to use sneaky methods to make life as hard a possible for them.

As for the Ron thing the way i see the only thing that he has going for him is the fact that he is a pureblood, he is not rich, powerful or very bright.
so he would not want to live in a world where only thing that sets him apart from Harry and Hermione dose not mean anything if the muggleborn's win.

All the powerful Muggleborns will already have been recruited for the Order, so any Muggleborn uprising will be rather weak...

I actually like the idea I just think your making them rather weak and worthless. Harry doesn't need a resistance faction to help him. It would be much better if the group consisted of a bunch of muggle supereamists that were as bad as death eaters. They wage their war against Voldemort and the Ministry and Harry and folks are caught in the middle. Seeing as how everyone has the same Hogwarts education there's no reason why the muggleborns can't out fight the death eaters. If you really want to get rid of Ron having a member of this group summarily executing Ron for being a pureblood would be a lot more realistic and fit better into the story than this out of no-where Ron's a traitor.

Why is it automatically assumed that all powerful muggleborns would be instantly assimilated into the order? Hermione wasn't asked, and she seems to have been powerful. And how much do we really know about what happens to muggle-borns anyway. And death eaters, despite using dark arts aren't super powerful. And avada kedavra kills everyone, regardless of blood purity. And even if a small fraction are powerful, the extra numbers wouldn't hurt against the non-inner circle death eaters.

I guess i disagree with the fact that muggleborns have no chance to be powerful at all. And even an average power wizard could be useful in combat, even as a distraction.

She was too young. Had the Order still been around after she had completed Hogwarts, she would have joined.

Personally, if I was a muggle-born in England when all the Voldemort shit went down, I'd have moved to Switzerland or something. Within a decade, the massive halfblood and muggleborn brain drain means that England is no longer on top of the wizarding world.

I'm not sure if brain drain would occur the same way in the wizarding world as in real life. After all, it takes only one magical genius to completely rewrite the political and power landscape of a country in the wizarding world (e.g. Dumbledore or Voldemort).

Also, your plan probably wouldn't work. In DH we see Voldemort traveling Europe without any problem. In OotP we hear of Death Eaters being able to have effects abroad from Hagrid.

There is only one i read i cant remember what it is but it is a muggle born uprising except no bloodshed. They just want to leave the british wizarding world to less predjudiced areas like the US or small concentration magical areas where blood doesnt matter just skill does. I basically says first year muggleborns get pulled out, older ones finish schooling and leave taking with them all their knowledge and leaving britain dry.

Actually it would i believe that muggle borns bring alot ot the table but are opressed have them all leave the british wizarding world stagnates and they breed themselves out of existance, then the muggle borns come when they are at their weakest and take over.

This would all ofcourse have to be after Voldemort is done and away with.

    Right, so here's my thoughts.

I like the idea, I do, but I think it needs some changes. MAJOR changes.

For example, getting rid of Ron just seems to be an easy ploy to get Harry and Hermione together. You can still do it (frankly I consider the character redundant), but in a more, shall we say... intelligent manner?

I see it this way: the Resistance should have muggles as part of the organization, as muggle-borns are obviously going to have connections with that world. Ron would be easily overcome at the sight of bombs, rifles, that sort of thing, while H & H would be able to accept it.

Over time, he would grow more disillusioned with the Resistance, in the end deciding to leave to fight Voldemort "like proper wizards". Then there's the big confrontation between Harry and Ron, where everything comes out; his uncontrollable envy, his pureblood prejudices... that sort of thing.

The Resistance would be morally gray: they'd fight Voldemort and evil, but they'd do it the same way he did; they're effectively terrorists or guerrillas. So in the end a trigger-happy member might shoot Ron. Or Harry could simply obliviate him.

After Ron leaves, we see more of the war; booby trapping, setting ambushes, terrorist attacks, that sort of thing. Unlike canon, where things really come to a head at Hogwarts, this time the tide slowly turns against Voldemort, to the point where the Resistance successfully infiltrates the Ministiry, and take it back.

A muggle-born is installed as Minister, and this is where things do from morally gray to morally dark. The new Minister is as bad as Fudge, openly discriminating against Purebloods, centaurs, elfs, the like. All this goes unnoticed by Harry and Hermione, who have set off to find the remaining Horcruxes, and deal with Voldemort once and for all...

Seriously what's with all the hating? Considering what we know, every muggleborn in Britain will have finished 7 years of education at Hogwarts at least before persuing whatever carrier they choose be it magical or not.
And as we can easily see, blood purity does not equate to power. We can also easily assume that there's a wider range to "power" than merely Order worthy and trash. So what if Order snag all grade A super brilliant wizards? There's still going to be a whole bunch of grade B-D wizards who are still capable of using a wand and mobbing down better foes by sheer weight of numbers.

The only thing that prevents an uprising truly is organization. Voldemort does it for the blood purists, Dumbledore does it for order and stability. There's nobody really organizing the muggle-borns and half-bloods for their interests.

So yes, if there was such a thing as an organized muggleborn uprising using muggle military stratagems instead of this bullshit wizarding war then the ministry of magic would be easily overthrown.

The Doctor and Naga's shadow are right there ideas are better than mine by along way. I am really liking the idea of muggleborn supremacist's i think it would be a nice change to the usual fare, as for the Ron thing i think that i fell into the trap of going the easy way. Maybe you could have Harry and Hermione support the new muggleborn ministry until its to late.

Is anyone interested in having a crack at this idea? If you are let me know I would like see what anybody came up.

    Morally 'gray'? That mean 'pragmatic'?

I think any smart muggleborns would have fled in the 80s when it became apparent that the MInistry was not going to prosecute most of the Death Eaters, the same bunch that had been killing and torturing them for years. Certainly when it became known that Voldemort was not only returned but had sprung the worst of his imprisoned followers and it had been covered up.

    Why stick around for that?

To pick on the other posters a bit, why precisely is this not feasible? You said that the plot is transparent, Ok, Lets help our young upstart (No offense Intended) Occlude his plot better rather than forcing him to re-write what could potentially be in interesting Story base.

    Points of Transparency:

    1) Ron may be thick, but he's certainly not a Crab or Goyle. He might think these things, but it's unlikely that he'd say them, at least not in front of said militant group. He Might be dumb enough to say it to H&Hr once they are away from said group, which could easily lead to a fracture in the 'Golden Trio' when he refuses to retract the comment.

    2) What kind of truth serum? the only one I can recall being mentioned in Cannon is Vertiserum, and supposedly it's strictly controlled. The only reason for Snape to have had some is either Dumbledore, or because he happens to be a potion master and is licensed for restricted potions. Out of curiosity, why would a search and rescue team carry truth serum around with them anyways?

3)Harry is not Dumb, Ron is not Malfoy. Harry would have noticed if Ron was trying to ride his coat-tails. Without supporting back story for Harry to be suspicious there is no way that Ron would have lasted this long, and I'm rather certain that the old Weasly temper would have blown his cover long before Harry trusted him with Info on the Horcrucies, so either it's a recent change, they've been trying to Ignore it, or else it's just Ron's temper at being upstaged...again.

4)The Love potion Idea, while probable, is rapidly becoming Cliche' if you can make it believable go for it, but I would personally make every attempt to avoid it.

5)The Inclusion of Luna into the love potion scenario is an extraordinarily Cliche' and greatly overused plot device. Nine and a half stories out of Ten use 'harry started to 'Notice' Luna.' as the reason for the potion. 'Other girls' is a Viable alternate, but the inclusion of a specific name all but screams the most likely pairing.

    6) large Numbers of Muggleborn students transferring overseas is going to be noticed. If Dumbledore doesn't catch it, you can damn well bet that Voldimort will. He claims that he's going to purify the ENTIRE wizarding world, not just England. He'll have someone keeping an eye on his primary targets.

Alright, I'm done picking apart your plot for now. I'm sure that I didn't get them all, but it's a start at least, and I'm sure the others here will pick up where I left off.

As a side note I can certainly imagine that there is some kind of resistance other than the Order, and I could rather easily be persuaded that some of the stronger muggleborn magic users would decline joining, or would not be approached, the OotP IS suppose to be a secret group after all.

All in all it's a good Idea, you just need to tweak it a bit.

I think this one is a great idea. I've actually thought about a muggleborn uprising in these terms--something akin to the French Revolution leading to a Terror against Aristocrats/Purebloods. Now we just need a Robespierre.

Why, Hermione, of course! She seems like the kind of person who would buy into that for-the-greater-good bullshit, and given a series of small steps in the right direction, I could easily see her becoing that.

I doubt, that if you told Robespierre before the revolution, that he'd become a tyrrinical madman who would essentially be responsible for the deaths of 30,000 people by beheadding, he'd laugh at you in your face.

But, over time, the revolution changed him, and after the revolution, little logical baby-steps that miandered towards what he did lead him right to becomming a mass-murderer.

You could even have Potter become the Napoleon in this little equation.

I think she'd be too intelligent for all that. Remember, she has knowledge of Muggle history - including the French Revolution.

Harry would probably be behind the coup that overthrows the muggle-born regime - and in the end becomes as bad as the previous regime, fully believing the end justifies the means.

Now, wouldn't it be fun if this new regime became Fascist - National Socialist, even? Gestapo men bashing in the Weasley's door at 1 AM, dragging them off for interrogation and torture...

With the Wizarding population so small they couldn't handle too many deaths. But wouldn't the other Wizarding governments intervene? The rest of Europe surely got pissed off at the very idea of regicide in France. This would be something very close to it. Enough that even the moderates and liberals in those governments would be upset.

Still, I think it would be cool to read.
