    Some time back, there was an outpouring of Harry/Sherlock crossovers, but no-one, to my knowledge, has had a crossover with Agatha Christie's Poirot. So, my challenge is to write a short story, involving Hercules Poirot with the English wizarding world. The Poirot canon is set in 1920-1975, for reference.

    Rules:

    - No shorter than 2000 words

    - Choice of premises:

    1) Poirot investigates the mysterious deaths and disappearances during the first rise of Voldemort, possibly leading to his own demise at the hands of Death Eaters (Poirot died in 1975), or maybe unveiling the Wizarding world to the general public. The peoples' reception of Poirot's revelation is up to the author;

    2) with the help of magic Poirot fakes his own death once again (he's probably around 100-110 years old at the end of Curtains, I'm not particularly sure) and tracks down the traitor in the Order before the events in canon. It could be before or after the Potters are killed;

    3) Harry is inspired by newspaper stories about the great detective before his time and grows a gentlemanly moustache and tries to solve mysteries. His success is up to the author.

    Anyway, in my opinion, a detective!Harry story is much better based on Poirot's exploits than those of Sherlock Holmes, as Poirot is a much more recent character and having him around in Harry's time is much less of a stretch than teleporting Holmes all the way to the 1980s.

    EDIT: On browsing FFn, I've realised that there actually is 1 crossover between Harry Potter and Poirot, it doesn't look terrible at first glance, but it seems it's not finished.

    You did a real justice to #3 in choice of premises.
