I put together a quick spreadsheet trying to show the effects of various actions. The numbers I quoted before are somewhat skewed since I posted a chapter on the 11th, but hopefully there's still some interesting data there.

One interesting thing to note -- and I mentioned it in a comment in the file -- is the number of reviews that the DLP C2 brought in on other stories. At least for this data point it looks like it's "higher quality traffic" (reviews per click?) than simply posting a new chapter. Probably a function of bringing in a bunch of new readers instead of just the people following me and the people just trolling FFnet for new stuff.

Speaking of which, I didn't list of the number of people who have favorited and followed my stories, but at a glance those numbers have jumped quite nicely as well.

 

Nice, "Betrayal" views jumped from average of 108 - so it is 4.5k bonus hits, with higher review rate. Spillover is also visible (BTW, I am currently contributing to it as I decided to start my reread of "A Curse...").

And I was not aware that hit/review rate is about 300 (I thought that it is about 100, so at least I guessed order of magnitude).

I have specifically avoided adding stories from the Restricted Section to the C2. Partly because I don't think that they're the best advert for DLP, but also because in the current climate of FFNet's attitude to such fiction, I want to avoid drawing attention to them. If you spot any stories from the restricted section in the C2, do point them out.

As for Child Care, I was specifically requested by Perspicacity (who would otherwise qualify as a DLP Author) to not include certain fics of his in the Library.

Earlier in the thread I gave my opinion on Jbern, the same is true of Ruskbyte, if any of their stories are included in the C2, they're not because they're 'DLP Authors'. This isn't a criticism of the quality of their writing, but they're not, and haven't been for some time, an active part of the DLP community.

As for Nauro, I'm not entirely sure when or who decided that he was a Featured Author. I'm not in any way against this on his merits, I think he's a good writer and he's certainly a member of DLP, but I am concerned that you have arbitrarily added him to your list without discussion or prompt.

Swimdraconian is listed in the very first post of this thread as a featured author.

I don't know if this has been previously raised, but if not I'm going to take this opportunity to nominate IdSayWhyNot for default inclusion.

 

OK, I will filter out stories from Restricted Section on the next time. I will also discard Child Care (I am quite interested what is the reason for hiding it by the author). Maybe I will also check C2 for stories in Restricted Section.

I will remove Ruskbyte and jbern (user_id: 226550 and 940359) from featured authors and add Swimdraconian (id: 513750).

On Nauro and CheddarTrek - I considered adding them to my list as a suggestion/prompt (like I did in previous versions). Next time I will make separate post about adding new ones.

I have no opinion about IdSayWhyNot.

EDIT: And I want to properly nominate Nauro and CheddarTrek for status of featured author.

 

For what it's worth, IdSayWhyNot is an amazing author and should absolutely be featured

Yes, it seems that almost all his stories were deleted on ff.net (of HP only one remains). This would be purely for completeness. Maybe updating list in the first post is a better idea.

 

While I'm thinking of it: Are we missing anything from the C2?

 

Steelbadger's Lotr crossovers and the Prince that was promised rewrite are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing my Fable fic, Rise, in the C2 if any of the admins have read it and think it worthy. I'd link it, but I'm on my phone.

 

No offense to steelbadger, but I don't think any of his LOTR stuff is up for the C2. Not yet, at east.

It has always been the rule that all DLP authors get their stories into the C2. It's the "featured authors" part of "5-Starred and Featured Authors C2".

The C2 is listed in the HP section, so FF.Net only allows the addition of HP fics. People were talking in IRC earlier about creating a General-listed C2 for all non-HP fics.

 

All DLP authors? In that case, I'll put myself forward (Thunderstorm only, though, unless crossovers are ok; the rest is either non-HP, or not very good).
