This idea came out of a realization that in HBP, Harry seemed from the beginning to be rather fuzzy minded and slow on the uptake compared to his state of mind in OotP. As you may (and better know) one of the signs of the Imperius curse is that the victim usually seems to be left rather befuddled to say the least, which seems to fit Harry's behavior throughout most of the book.

The idea is that Harry did in indeed try to set off on his own independent Harry type adventure, but was quickly found out by one party or another, I'm thinking a real hard ass member with little real respect for him (or others in general) like Dumbledore or Snape, who puts him under the Imperius curse and knowing of his resistance, Obilviates him so he doesn't even know he's under the effect and cant fight it.

My personal bet would be Dumbledore on the night he took Harry away from Privet Drive. Harry is getting ready to strike out on his own, some order member finds it out and dutifully reports it in, Dumbledore shows up, casts the Imperius on Harry, Obliviates him, and comes up with some cock and bull story about how Harry's all packed up and ready to leave to go to the burrow.

Now step two of this story concept is rather odd and might piss some DLP folks off.

Ginslut to the rescue, abet totally unwittingly.

Ginny, once he shows up (rather unexpected) at the burrow begins to put a plan she was going to pull off during the year into action. She begins to feed him love potions to make him fall for her. Because of the imperious they do not work strongly at first because there is another form of mind-altering magic at use... so Ginny starts upping the dosage in both frequency and amount until she's giving him enough to ensnare half of Slythern house.

While this is not good for Harry's mind to say the least, the potion buildup begins to affect the Imperius. The potion and the Imperius react to each other and begin to feed Harry contradictory commands which befuddles him even more but also causes the imperious to slowly unravel becoming weaker and more obvious (at least to someone in their right mind) over the school year while at the same time keeping the potion from working properly.

Once he leaves Hogwarts, Harry is no longer being fed his daily triple dose of Ginny-juice and the love potion begins to wear off, leaving him under the effects of the erratic, shorted out remains of what was once a rather powerful Imperius curse. Something which he should be able to figure out and throw off because it functions rather erratically and he'd have moments of total thrall and near independence, usually randomly, feeding him a great number of impulses that are contradictory to what he wants and generally being real obvious.

That’s where the story would begin.

Personally, I'd like to to be Harry/Luna as some real connection was shown between them before all the monster in his chest bullshit, which among otherthings is documented evidence of what happens then the curse and a love potion start screwing eachother up (he's not the first idiot under the Imperio to be fed ginny-juice)

    Thoughts?

Yeah, that's a decent explanation for getting rid of HBP crap...

Yeah, it. Seems more like a plot bunny than a challenge, though. You didn't really say whan he was supposed to do.

Maybe I should flesh it out a bit. I'll clarify it then, but it will be open as both...

Interesting idea. It does need to be fleshed out, but it would be good, starting off when Harry started to get the random flashes between control and independance (though, wouldn't it be better if it wasn't Dumbledore that had cast it, since he's dead, which would cause it to unravel. Maybe if Snape cast it. Could lead to some good scenes later on, when Snape tries to command Harry but it fails.) perhaps a week or so into the holidays. I like the premise. Someone shoudl take it on.

I agree, a good idea you had. It is a good way to explain HBP.

But I agree that it should be Snape that cast the spell, otherwise after Dumbledore died, the spell would be completely gone.

However, I like this idea, hopefully somebody uses it

It was just a plot bunny when Psycho and I came up with it. Dun remember HOW it came to be but its here.

Would be interested to see this if someone ever takes it up.

I was talking about how HBP is a step back, blamed it on her pregnancy while wirting (hormones), and then said that the only way I could see it was if he was under an imperius curse...

Hmm, interesting idea. Snape would be the better person to cast it. Maybe during guard duty.
