I got an idea that's been growing in my head for a long time. However, I just don't have the skills needed to write a Good Harry Potter story.

What I am looking for is where Harry goes off on his own after the end of Half Blood Prince. Instead of searching for the Horcruxes though, he decides to move to the muggle world and ends up a Drug runner, traveling through all the exotic Locales you can come up with.

Whichever way you do it, Harry has to willingly take up this lifestyle and not be forced into it by Blackmail or anything like that.

Don't confuse this with a story where Harry completely abandons the British Wizarding Community. He still communicates with some of his former friends from Hogwarts.

It is optional for Harry to do drugs himself but not as heavily as some of the American Rock stars do.

Requirements for the story are as follows:

*Dumbledore is dead. He does not come back. He does not do the thing in Star Wars like Qui Gon Jin did and speak to Harry through the Spirit World.

*A pairing may be use in the beginning, but it HAS to be a MarySue character, just for the fact that Harry wont be seeing his friends for a while.

*Don't make him super powerful. If you make him powerful, don't make him as powerful as Merlin or the Founders

*He can be related to the Founders, but not Merlin

*!!Most Important!!: No Character Bashing

*Harry isnt whiny.He isn't angsty. He is determined.

*Harry can be rich but not super rich where he'll never have to work a day in his life.

*Harry doesn't become dark. Period.

*Optional: You can have Harry study alot but he can't suddenly become the next Merlin over the summer. It takes time and experience to become that.

*Bonus Points: Harry kills the Drug Lords he works for before returning to the Wizarding World but not before robbing them of their Cash & Drugs.

 

Err.... why would Harry do something like that? It's like saying: "Instead of going after Horcruxes, Harry finds a new life and career in the corporate investment planning, using his new found skills to fight his way upwards through the hiearchy..." I mean... what's the point?

 

Yeah...I've got to ask why you think Harry would do this. There's still the matter of the Horcruxes, and the fact that Voldemort wants to kill him. And what motivation would a closeted, abused boy have to go crazy selling drgs across the world, and/or using them?

 

He just gets fed up with life and decides that he wants to see the world. Doing it on a Drug Lords money is just a bonus. He will still find the Horcruxes just not until after he gets his World Traveling out of his system.

 

Riiiight... Ok, good luck with this one. You're gonna need it.

 

Ok, how is it a bonus to A) become an international criminal, B) have the constant possibility of being offed by a rival drug lord and C) have the constant possibility of being offed by your boss for letting something slip or cause he doesn't like you.

And really, he might be a whiny daft bitch, but it takes complete idiocy to voluntarily do drugs. I know some folk are forced into it by circumstances beyond their control. But anyone who consiously makes the decision to do drugs is severely lacking in the brain department.

 

Well he doesn't have to do drugs just move them. As I said, it's just an idea thats been brewing in my head for a while and I thought that if I'd ever find a story like this then it would ocme from the great authors at DLP.net

The idea is not really that original - I would love to see an original slant to make it different from all the other similiar fics out there.

The proplem with making it so late in cannon is that it is increasingly difficult to influence the character (Motivation/Events) and make him move in the direction you want him to move.

This is why so many peoiple attempt to rewrite the series so they have contro l over the characters and make it more realistic when he decides to do all this stuff. Otherwise can you say ACT-OF-GOD

And I have to agree with IP82, whats the point? Every story has to have an endgame, a conflict. What is the point?

Harry looked down at the pitifull shell of a man, a man once feared throughout England as "Lord Voldemort". With a snarl, Harry pulled out the one weapon he knew would defeat Voldemort, the weapon with infinite power, and the weapon the Dark Lord knew not. "Behold, with this ultimate white-out of Doom I will smite thee and cast thou into the recycling bin!"

 

Lol. If I ever make a Humor!Harry story can I use that?

 

So he becomes a drug dealer why? By making him a drug dealer, you just killed the plot and made some excuse to make him sell drugs( I don't even know why you would do that).

 

Ok, fine, I give up. I only wanted to give you guys a challenge and see if you are up for it. Guess not. I was leaving almost everything open for you guys to fill in with whatever crazy ideas you can think of.

I like this challenge, but I don't think it would work being post HBP, or even post OOTP. In my opinion, this would work better if it was a complete AU, with Harry not going to Hogwarts. For example, Harry runs away from Dursleys, meets drug lord, eventually kills him off, and takes over all the drug trafficking in London, or even England. Post GOF might work too.

 

Well...that'd be like Malignant Objects, only Harry wouldn't be an easily-controlled dick.
