That's a shame. S1 was painfully awful, but S2 was an improvement, and S3 was actually really enjoyable aside from some cringe moments where the acting/budget fell off.

Also, S3 didn't even have bad numbers. 500 mill minutes average. Kinda shocked Amazon dropped it given that they have more money than God and historically don't cancel ANYTHING that is bringing in that number of eyeballs.

Sony owns the non-book rights, small chance that someone else picks it up (spend that money Apple). Really enjoyed season 3 and was hoping to get more.

I still can't believe Amazon did worse than this did. Sure, it was a self-financed, small budget attempt at trying to hold onto the show-IP to snag some money out of Sony, but at least they tried to be faithful to the source material.

I'm inclined to credit this fortuitous cancellation to the Creator.

Funny, that. Billy Zane should be proud, really.

It's almost like the people financially backing the Amazon show just wanted their own Game of Thrones (better age-up those main characters, so you can have some sex scenes, and then ramp up the gore), with a different fantasy title taped over the name, and the showrunner just wanted to make WoT fan fiction, rewritten in service to his own kinks.

"All you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ!"
Er, all they had to do was adapt a series that was already successful but, hey, how could they not know better than some bearded, old, man? Right?

"We need to attract a wider audience than the books could muster and, if the books were that good to begin with, those people who didn't read it would have read it, right? That's a thought that distantly approaches actual logic, or so I'm told, given my distant relationship with human thoughts, drives, and emotions, so let's take everything the author wrote and change the whole society the story takes place in, change the magic system, the characters' personalities, their appearances, their ages, add OCs, kill off characters that are supposed to be around much later and... when it comes to appealing to a wide audience, you really can't go wrong with making each and every character totally idiotic and unlikable. The author's dead, so he can't complain, but why would he when I'm improving on all of his work? What a fuckin' genius I am...

"Hey, I wonder if those changes we made are going to necessitate a cascading series of changes, later on, that will further alienate fans of the books, and become ridiculous to the point of turning off people who only know the Amazon version? Naaaaaah..."

WoT will probably get sealed into the radioactive wing of adaptation jail, until well after I'm dust, and the (beings defined for legal purposes as) people, who puked out this schlock, will be rewarded with jobs ruining other things fans love. Mother's milk in a cup, this show was pure, unadulterated, ass gravy!
