I liked it. As a childrens movie, it was top notch. It only falls apart under examination because the book is so much better. The movie was slicker and darker than the others, with some nice effects, but I do have some problems with it...

1- Rain slickers with player names during quidditch. To mundane a solution to rain for magic folk, and it looked too much like muggle sports uniforms for my liking. They are chasing flying balls on a broom whilst wearing a robe... why would they have muggle sports outfits?

2- The patronus wasn't just done horribly, but inconsistantly. When Harry sees the patronus the first time, it is the full stag, and it looks cool, but then they changed it when showing him cast it... why?!?

3- Rampant wandless magic - nuff said.

4- Ditching the entire marauders backstory.

5- Lupin, Pettigrew... as human or animal, they were done wrong. Very wrong. Lupin looked like he was going to be arrested for being a gay pedophile any minute, I swear.

6- Dumbledore sucked. I know they couldn'y get Gandalf to play him, but really, an unknown would have been better than that fatass.

I excuse the underage magic thing, as Rowling breaks that rule herself, often. It seems the only time anyone got in real trouble for it is when the Minister personally had it out for Harry, which was obviously out of the norm.

And Frankie Muniz will NEVER be HP, ever. He's not british, and Rowling has a strict demand of WB to only hire brits. If only she was strict about sticking to her story...

the muniz bit was me seeing multiple pages about it, being up for 2 days straight, and fairly intoxicated.

Looking the next day and I saw those pages were all dated 4/1

For me, the main problem with this movie is that, probably in an effort to make the movie his own, as Midknight has already pointed out, the Director has changed the storyline so much that it only really refers to the books is when he had no choice without renaming the entire damn movie.
So much information that turns out to be important later on in the series is omitted that I cannot wait to see the 7th movie, if only too watch the director struggle.

And please don't give me any crap about how difficult it is to condense a book into a movie without omitting vital information in the process. Peter Jackson managed it brilliantly with Lord of the Rings and that book was far more complicated and detailed than Harry Potter could ever pretend to be.

Plus he did not have the author on hand to advise him about what was
    important.

The graphics were mainly excellent, the werewolf was interesting but utterly useless. It reminded me of the werewolves in Van Helsing. The acting was good too. It's a shame about the glaring plotholes.

Wow, I think you just broke some sort of record. Over 3 years.

As for the PoA movie, I liked it. Back then the trio's acting wasn't as good as it is now (which is saying something, given that they still aren't very good), but the cinematography, scripting and structure of the film were all good. I wasn't too fussed about how things were changed - some things that are written in books just don't make a good transition to film, and when making movies from books a director needs to have discretionary power to say "this just wouldn't work".

I loved the PoA book, it's my favourite in the series (especially because I thought Sirius Black was a far cooler bad guy than good guy), so I naturally quite like the film, though I still prefer the book (as I do for all of the films so far, though HBP might change that).

It is advised you don't post in a thread that hasn't been commented in for over a month or so. This doesn't apply to the library though, so long as the post has some relevance.

    EDIT: Why halo thar, Taure. I'd have the record but a troll post I made on a 3 year old intro was deleted. ;_;

Yeah, it might have been a necropost but he offered a decent length and reasonably well thought-out statement so it's not too terrible. Now, if he had only said something like "lol i agree" then I would say to commence with the mockery...

On topic, out of the movies they've done so far PoA is definately my least favorite (though OotP comes close) as it just doesn't maintain the feel of the books in the way the other movies do. It doesn't help that the dircetor added in so many utterly random-ass things like the shurnken Jamaican heads while cutting out important parts of the plot.

Didn't even like the book, much less the movie.
