I mentioned this over at A.D.D. One thing that bothers me about canon Naruto is that he just doesn't seem ready to be promoted. You can argue that Naruto has enough skill and ability to battle most Jounin, but that isn't what makes a ninja. What makes a Chuunin is that they can lead a squad into battle and not get them killed.

How can Naruto ever lead a squad when lets his emotions get out of control? When he screams and charges first as Itachi so nicely put it. How many times has Kakashi had to stop Naruto from charging his enemy? You can say that having Gaara killed messed him up emotionally, but he should have known better.

Unfortunetly in Naruto world that kind of behavior warrants the comment "You have surpassed me" from Kakashi, which by the way I severely doubt. I am confident that Kakashi would fuck Naruto up in a real fight.

 

See thats where you guys think differently. The naruto anime is for all viewers to watch including kids. So i really doubt that they will show an ANBU going around killing a child which i don't doubt anyone would get scared because of the reactions he might get from people who watches the show. And i think he knows that but if Naruto is for adults and only adults, which i think the manga is for...well, the new chapters are anyway it will be different. The new chapters for naruto is getting pretty bloody and everyone is all ninja like not to mention naruto is more of a ninja then ever.

So you guys might actually get your wish. meh! the fight between naruto and kakuza pretty much sums it up.

 

And what does all that have to do with us not wanting to see him protrayed in such a manner in fanfiction? I'm sure we all understand the reason the canon isn't so gory and dark, but that wasn't the point of the discussion.

 

How about we get some smart, powerful ANBU. In most fics, ANBU are cannon fodder, and are usually killed to show how powerful Naruto and/or other character is/has become. They're the assassination specialists for a reason god damnit.

And ninja's kill people. No "only if they've wronged someone' bullshit. They're ninja's for hire.

How about a fic where Sandaime doesn't immediately believe a time-traveled Naruto? He's the smartest leader of the most powerful village in the world, and he's a ninja. He'd be a little suspicious if a kid came in with stories of the future.

A Naruto with a weapon other than a katana.

Evil!Kyuubi that's more than just an annoyance in the back of Naruto's head.

A dark!Naruto fic where Sasuke goes dark with him. This right here would be an amazing thing to me. Sasuke/Naruto interaction (non-yaoi) is the best part of the series for me. If Naruto is 'light', he either kills or redeems Sasuke. If he goes Dark, he always gets to kill and/or humiliate Sasuke. I want Dark!Naruto and Dark!Sasuke in the same (non!Yaoi) fic.
