Yeah.. Except for how the characters come across. It's actually kind of weird, since the goal as the author is to get us to like them.

The result is the opposite though, the scene makes me dislike them.

And the "magical contract" part is irrelevant. I'm sure the Goblet of Fire has no rule against breaking St Mungo's wards, or even murdering the patients there, but if you get caught, that's not really a valid defense.

Neither is "I'm from France, your rules don't apply." btw.

And if you are thinking "Those are rules that have nothing to do with the contest".. You are exactly right. There are rules that have nothing to do with the contest, that people still have to follow.

The characters didn't seem to grasp that.
