Hello, can anyone recommend a bloodborne story worth reading? I don't particularly mind if it's a crossover or not, but I finished the game today and would be pretty keen to read a story based on it.

Honestly, I've found none that have inspired. From memory a couple were Danmachi xovers (yeah....)

I felt the same way as you when I finished it way back when. Do what all of us other Good Hunters do upon doing so and fall down the VaatiVidya Bloodborne playlist hole XD

Paleblood Fruit by ser serendipity and JMenace is probably good. Its a Naruto/Bloodborne crossover and written by some high quality authors but i haven't played bloodborne yet so I never tried it.

There's basically nothing worthwhile for pure Bloodborne fics, which is a shame because the universe is infinitely more interesting than a lot of other things that get way more attention.

And even when you include crossovers, there's all of like 4 that are anything more than hot trash. Of those, Jagged Sword is the only one I can actually remember. TLDR is that Shirou Emiya, protagonist of Fate Stay/Night, is the Good Hunter and there's some fuckery afoot in the collision of the two settings. It's written fairly well, IMO, and is definitely worth reading if you're familiar with both universes, but if you don't know anything about Fate, it'll likely be confusing. Also, it just barely got out of the prologue before it was, seemingly, abandoned though.

As much as I adore the world, I often wonder if novelizing it would do it a disservice.

The strangeness, mystery and just lack of general insight is what makes it to special. I can't imagine enjoying it as much if it's all spelled out.

    Maybe I'm wrong.

I appreciate the responses, even if it's absolutely not what I wanted to hear?

To be honest, I doubt any fic can capture the surreal nature of Bloodborne. Maybe a character piece in a crossover and to be fair there are a few of them out there. I just haven't seen anyone do justice to the concept.

There is one or two HP/Bloodborne crossovers which are decent, and a Witcher/Bloodborne crossover I found solid.

I haven't read those last two in a while, but I'm currently following Touched by the Arcane. It's fem!Harry and there's a strong focus on Catherine's character as she has to deal with Yharnam + other HP characters reacting to it.

    And the Witcher one:

Hunter by UnwelcomeStorm on SB is pretty good from what I remember? The timeline was a bit disjointed and if I remember correctly publishing order wasn’t the correct order to read the chapters in? It’s a Worm cross if you like Worm. I remember enjoying it at the very least.

    I can second Hunter from UnwelcomeStormhttps://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/hunter-worm-bloodborne.363802/ .
The premise is more or less Taylor dreams of Yharnam and slowly brings pieces of it into the Bay. Told form many different perspectives and not in chronological order. Still one of the best Bloodborne Crossovers.

Another one I can recommend is Lady of Blood https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11999747/1/Lady-of-Blood . In this Louise summons a part of Yharnam in the familiar summoning ritual. And through it the touch of the old ones spreads. Captures the Bloodborne Atmoshpere really well I think.
