Ive been watching this show Burn Notice on USA and I think its one of the funniest spy shows Ive ever seen, so it got me to thinking hey maybe this could work in a fic. The premise is that the spy Micheal Weston is an international spy and one day in the middle of an assignment he calls into base only to find out hes been burned. No speaking with anyone, no outside contact and he isnt allowed to leave the city they picked for him which happens to be Miami, Florida or they start a national manhunt for him. From the little clues he has, he needs to use the help of his pschyo ex-girlfriend Fiona who is former IRA and his buddy Sam who is a former spy as well to figure out why hes been burned and fix the problem. Here is my challenge:

About 5 years after the dust from the war with Voldemort settles Harry is a young talented unspeakable who is simply trying to do his job to the best of his abilities but during a routine meeting with some faction that the author can choose he fire calls into head quarters to find out...hes been blacklisted. After a daring escape from the faction, he passes out from his injuries and is dumped in a city that the author chooses, personally I was thinking maybe Dublin or something around that area. Upon awakening he finds himself in the company of his ex who can once again be someone of your choosing except for Ginny or Herman. With the tiny amount of information he has Harry attempts to figure out who burned him and why while performing small jobs for people to get by.

    Rules:
    1. 1-2 people can help Harry out but no more than that
    2. He has a high knowledge of combat and tactics along with lots of good spells and a decent amount of power to back them up but no super powers.
    3. Since it is a muggle city he has to keep the magic low key, it will still be an integral part of the story but he cant start shouting spells in the street.
    4. Absolutely no goody-goody Harry or Authority Lapdog Harry, something along the lines of sarcastic with little bits of rage thrown in.
    5. He has to stay in the city the author picks he can't leave or their will be drastic consequences.
    6. Only very small amounts of angst are allowed and they will only be in reference to the the relationship with the girlfriend

The girlfriend can be anyone of your choosing but personally I would think that Tonks could work the best in this situation.

Burn Notice is the only show I watch on the television. Abso-fucking-lutely amazing show and now I'm pissed at myself that I didn't make a plot-bunny for it. Crap.

As of now, I've got that one episode where he gets the job to run those mobsters out of the little spanish neighborhood stuck turned Harry Potter style stuck in my head. Hilarious mental images. Rep for you.

I enjoy Burn Notice when I ever I see it on; I agree, it is one of the best shows on TV right now. However, I'm not much of a TV person (I only watch it when I'm "incapacitated", so to speak), so it's rare that I get to watch it. If the storyline you've given is correct, I could see it working pretty well with what you've got there.

Tonks seems to be the best bet for a girlfriend as long as she isn't fanon-I trip everytime I walk!Tonks. Obviously, it can't work with canon in this way though, seeing how she no longer exists. However, the author could do just as well adding one of the Slytherin or Ravenclaw girls in.

As for his former spy buddy, Zabini is the only canon figure I can think up. Neville or Ron just wouldn't fit. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, isn't "Sam" somewhat shady? He'll help you if it best fits his perogative, correct?

However, some minor downfalls to this are: Harry's a wizard. It wouldn't be that difficult for someone capable of apparating to leave the country. Plus, Unspeakables, from what I can gather according to canon, are more like Scientists and less like Spies. Still, you can bypass these with blah blah answers, and put together a story that, if nothing else, is inventive.
