What if Barty Crouch Jr was not as loyal as Voldemort thought, after years in prison and then as a captive in his fathers house had Barty Crouch Jr begun to think that Voldemort had been weak for being defeated by a baby.

But when Voldemort approach him so does he still pretend to be totally loyal as Voldemort is at least better then other wizards and witches.

During his time at Hogwarts, pretending to be Moody so has he performed several deep Legilimency scans on Harry and is beginning to see his potential, the potential to be greater then Voldemort ever could be.

He carefully watched Harry, even prepered him for Voldemort in a way by allowing harry to practise to resist mental control.

The final test was if harry would survive voldemorts ritual, if harry survived and got back with the help of the two way portkey he had created so was he worthy of being taught.

So when harry returns with Cedric's body so does Barty Crouch Jr know that harry is the one that will bring about his perfect pureblood world.

Because of this does he continue to pretend to be moody, never allowing anyone to know the truth about him.

Rules:

Barty Crouch Jr must train Harry. But since he is pretending to be Moody cant he teach him the most evil dark arts, he needs to be able to explain the training to Dumbledore.

He must have a plan to corrupt Harry and eventually have Harry lead the Purebloods to victory, if that happens is up to the author.

Barty must also be exposed at one point, how Harry reacts is up to the author, will he go to dumbledore? or continue to train under a death eater, either to defeat voldemort or for his own gains?

 

This doesn't make sense. Barty wasn't a die hard pureblood fanatic. He was raised by a strict powerful father, who was later never around. Voldemort merely stepped into Crouch Snr's role and wooed the Junior by giving him the guidance he craved for. If Voldemort was propagating death of all cats and eternal rule of dogs, Barty would have done the same.

 

I'm in agreement with ip on that point.

Otherwise, this is a nicely developed idea, and uses a few canon inconsistancies cleverly, making it quite believable.

 

Besides the obvious inconsistencies in canon pointed out above, this is a great idea. Barty Crouch, however, is, or almost is, as insane as Bellatrix, and I doubt his ability to slowly and continuously corrupt Harry without suddenly slipping up and revealing his secret.

Also, canon!Harry is often described as being an idiot by members of the DLP community, but even canon!Harry is wary of anyone trying to use him for their own advances--Lockhart, Slughorn--UNLESS they seem genuine, ala Dumbledore. I think it would be difficult to realistically portray an Alastor Moody/Barty Crouch, Jr that wants to help Harry 'just because'. Still, if someone can write it properly, it would make for an interesting relationship between the two.

To add my own two cents to the plot: I think the most brilliant way for Barty to be revealed is to have the real Alastor Moody escape from his trunk.

After that, it's a stretch to have Harry stick with a Death Eater, unless Crouch is one hell of an actor and can prove to Harry that he's no longer under Voldemort's control... but with the part that Crouch played in the rebirth of Voldemort (remember, Harry saw Crouch with Voldemort in his dreams) it would be hard to do.

To make a long story short, it's a nice thought, but it would take a lot of rethinking and some great writing to make the story realistic.

 

Just wanted to make something clear. I am almost positive that in the books Harry didn't see Barty with Voldemort. I think that was just in the fourth movie not the fourth book. I oculd be wrong but I don't think so.

And when the real Moody escapes the trunk and tells Harry the truth I can't see Harry continuing to train with Crouch. It would be extremely difficult to write Harry being converted to pureblood ideals by someone who he thinks is Moody. Harry has a muggleborn best friend and a muggleloving other best friend and this is before fifth year so he hasn't yet been hurt by Dumbledore, hasn't yet lost Sirius, and he hasn't yet used the Cruciatus Curse on Bellatrix.

Now, what I can see happening (though this isn't a darl!Harry at all. More of an Indy!Harry) is Moody breaking out of his trunk because he breaks free from the imperius curse that Crouch has on him. He tells Harry and Harry goes to confront Crouch. Then comes the big fight between student Harry and mentor Crouch in which the student overcomes the master. The real Moody sees the same potential but for being an auror and begins to train Harry as well. With Crouch as a mentor teaching him to cheat and to use semi-dark curses and then with Moody coming in and teaching Harry how to be uber!paranoid and to use Tranfiguration in defense or something Harry is pretty kickass and goes out and does some Deatheater skullfucking. Add in some meat between the bones and a few side stories like a romance plot and some fear when people learn Harry has been training under a death eater and I can see the beginnings of a story.

 

Movie only, therefore not canon. The first time Harry saw Crouch Jr. was in the pensieve in Dumbledore's office.
