He is going be an Inquisitor, which is basically a guy you do NOT want to fuck with cause disagreeing with an Inquisitor is legally classed as heresy, which carries a death sentence, usually carried out immediately by said Inquisitor, lol.

One of the facets of being an Inquisitor is that he is legally allowed to be a psyker. This is where the magic will come in. Its different frm the magic in HP but it is still magic, so I think in the first chapter I have managed to explain the transition from HP magic to psyker powers.

You're right, there is a lot of techno shit, it being the 41 millenium and all. As an Inquisitor, Harry will have access to any equipment he can find that he wants. Im not actually going to equip him with anything outragous, im thinking just matched las pistols perhaps, or maybe a blessed bolt pistol as his main weapon. What is everyones opinion? It should be noted that he will be a high level Alpha Psyker, and he will be using his mental powers more than his physical ones, in his fight against the heretical and the damned.

I think it sounds good. Simple weapons like Las and Bolt ones don't take much explaining and are fairly realistic. Making him a high level Alpha Psyker is reasonable, along with several good powers, regardless of if he keeps his magic or not. It sounds realistic, and fun, can't wait.

I have a question. I've read a fair bit about warhammer 40k on wikipedia and I know the basics. What I was interested is the level of power a Alpha level would have. Just how powerful would a greater demon or Patriach(sp) be in comparison?

A greater demon or patriarch is a level above alpha + which is a separate level above alpha. The greater demon or patriarch is whats caled an apex psyker. This level is somewhere equivalent to a god.

With the greater demons, their powers are limited by their god. Khorne doesn't havea lot to do with psykic powers, but thier pwoer would be channeled into speed and strength and such like.

Tseentch on the other hand, do a lot of manipulation through time, matter, the mind etc.

Slannesh focus on sensuality, pain and pleasure mean the same to them.

Nurgle is the granddaddy of disease and pestilence.

A patriarch might not be quite as powerful in each individual area as greater demons, but they have fairly all round powers, thoguh each one has different strengths and weaknesses.

An alpha level, its difficult to specify exactly how much power they would have, because an alpha level telepath is still alpha level (and bloody dangerous I should add, cause in 40K telepathy is anything that influences the mind, from shouting to ripping to simply exploding), but they would be less than perfect to combat a person who was alpha level at telepathy, but also in telekinesis and Command.

So it isn't really the level of power that matters so much, rather the exact powers they have.

I personally am having Harry as an alpha level, but he won't be manifesting a mad amount of powers.
