I had the wonderful idea for a comedy fic, that could either work as a one shot, or as a multi-chapter fic.

Harry, in the process of growing up with the Dursleys falls in with a group of neds/chavs/charvers whilst at school.

That describes what a ned is. They are becoming more and more common these days, and it isn't too far a stretch of the imagination that Harry could be seduced into being one of them.

Imagine the havoc that would strike Hogwarts when ned!harry comes to visit.

I can jsut see his first meeting with Malfoy.


Harry turned slowly to look at the blond haired boy who had spoken to him. After carefully working through in his mind the exact meaning of what had been said he spoke up. "Oi man, if you don't fuckin' shut the fuck up, I'm gonna fuckin' chib yer maw, then I'm gonna fuckin' chib you." Harry spat at Malfoy before taking a swig out of his bottle of Buckfast and turning to swear at Madam Malkin for taking too long.


As I said this could make a good one-shot, series of one-shots, or an AU IMO.

 

That reminds me of that one pimp!Harry story...

Monarch, it wouldn't be averagejoe!harry, aveerage joe has some manners, morals, vocabulary that extends beyond the words "chib" "maw" "yer" "man" and "I'll" , with the occassional addition of the phrases "I'm gonna" and "Where's ma bucky man".

Obviously this exagerates a bit, but really, neds are poor, proud, violent, alcaholic and have no morals or manners.

im not quite sure that your quite understanding what they are. They are the bottom end of society. They are looked down on by everyone. The best job you will ever find one in is a fast food place.

 

This would just annoy me to no end. Be like reading them Stupid!Harry stories, even if it is a comedy.

 

I absolutely HATE charvers. They are stupid, contradictory, offensive and generally right bastards (and not the good type either). A charver!Harry would just annoy me.

To be honest, even the idea of a chav!harry fic makes me sick. Even as a comedy i doubt i would bother reading it. I see enough of those pricks around my street and in the city center, i don't think i'd physically be able to read anything like that.

But some people might enjoy it, I think i might just be being narrow-minded.

Chavism is a fantastic way of life. I really enjoy watching them go about there business. They are like a different species. You could have muggles, chavs and wizards

 

While it may be funny for some people living in the UK, it'll just look like a clusterfuck of language from a non-brit's POV. Plus chavs have different words for the different parts within England anyway. So, while the idea does seem funny to me, it just won't appeal to a lot.
