I hate Herman the most, I think the many reasons can be summed up by looking at Ootp when she is hiding clothes to free the house elfs against their will, not caring what will happen to them after they are free or even care that all house elfs have stopped cleaning in the dorms because of fear. She knows best and she wont let anyone tell her otherwhise.

I dont mind Ron to much, exept for the first or forth books...

My most hated is Ron, for the obvious reasons - brought down harry's potential, jealousy, insecurity and sometimes his arrogance (not very common, but like at the quidditch match in ootp when he was being carried off by everyone as though he held the team together and was the only readon gryffindor won.) And one thing that bugs me the most is, although this is more in fanon than canon, the way he expects harry to agree with him all the time. Not a lot of evidence for it but i have to say it is partly harry's fault, like in POA when harry sided with Ron over the whole scabbers/crookshanks thing, that just really annoys me.

Hermione, to be honest i didn't mind to much until OOTP and HBP. Obviously i hated her bossiness and such at the beginning of PS/SS but i didn't mind the character too much after that. What annoyed me most about her later was her stubborness and narrow-mindedness (spew) and her hissy fit at being beaten in potions by harry.

Aside from them i also dislike snape, ginslut, malfoys, dursley's (esp. dudley) and pussy!harry... for various reasons

I have the same opinion with KANE's dislike of Ron and Hermione. I also hate Snivillus for his arrogance and cheek. Oh, and also Draco Malfoy, Ginny and the Dursley.

Characters like Draco and Snape are annoying, but I don't hate them. To me they represent the obnoxious little twits that everyone encounters and (should) brush off and ignore. Its the "good" characters who should be good examples and aren't that piss me off. Ron less so than Hermione. Ron never claims to be smart or hard working. Sure, he can be a jealous prat or sidetrack Harry from doing important things, but thats who he is and he never pretends to be much else. From day one he loved to fly and play chess and despite any constant nagging on his part to play and not work, he never forced Harry into much and he is always straight forward about who he is. Maybe not the type of friend I would want as my best friend if I was in Harry's place, but a fun friend to have anyway.

Hermione, on the other hand, starts 'growing up' and becomes worse and more immature as opposed to more adult like. It might be partially because, despite JKR being a woman, HBP was an insult to females everywhere. Every single woman in that book deserved to be isolated from society and prevented from spreading their genes. When Hermione is an "intelligent" mode she takes limited knowledge and unsuccessfully (often) extrapolates it into poorly constructed theories and refuses to change her mind. When she isn't in her "intelligent" mode she is a moron. Whatever ranting she may have done to Ron about his emotional intelligence, she isn't much better off. She makes it always Ron's fault even when she fails to also take initiative. She goes on these temper tantrums whenever she doesn't like something. Either one of her bi-polar personalities is one that I would stay away from. When you put them together you create one of the most unattractive female leads anywhere.

I can't stand Draco Malfoy. I don't want to read about him at all. He is so pathetic that he doesn't even deserve a death scene.

I hate Herman because she thinks she can demand anything and she lords her book quotes over others. She stunts Harry's development as much as the weasel does.
She doesnt allow any private life and decides what rule breaking is good or bad. I dont talk about Ron, he is just dumb. As long as the author doesnt make him into a main character (brother or war general) I can stand him

I hate Ginny as much as Cho. Both are disturbing fangirls and think themselves prettier than they are.

How is Cho a fan-girl? Harry was the one who was trying to get her. She is supposed to be one of the most attractive girls at Hogwarts and was never seen chasing after Harry or sticking her elbow in a butter dish.

My most hated character would have to be Hermione for the reasons already stated and how she constantly trys to drag Harry down.

Ha! What about OotP? How many times did she approach Harry? She was the one who came onto him before they kissed and she was the one who practically asked him out.

In that thing you call a closet. Better watch out,
I'm surprised none of you hate Percy. He is basically a male Hermione. I'm not saying I hate him though, he did after all try to get Ron to stop being friends with Harry, albeit with the wrong reasons.

You can't really hate Ron. Seriously, get an other reason than "H3 dr@g$ d0VVN H@rry!!!oneoneone!!eleven"

He doesn't drag Harry down. When Harry is sad or angry, Ron tries to get him to relax. Remember in PS, Harry was obsessing with The Mirror of Erised, and Ron wanted to play chess and stop worrying about it.

Also, Harry doesn't have to say yes to Ron, he can easily say not now. If I remember correctly, there were a few scenes in which Harry offered Ron to play chess. Ron was worried I think, so Harry tries to calm him down.

Now to who I hate. I hate Hermione. She's arrogant, annoying and bossy. She claims to be smart, yet in the DoM, she screws up. She stops Harry from stunning a Death Eater, because he has a head of a baby. She fails to take down and Death Eaters also.

In the Sixth book, she is an utter retard. Her mind is on Ron's willy the whole time. Even though I don't hate Ron, I do admit that in the sixth book, all of Harry's friends failed him.

Note: The reason the Dom in my opinion is Harry's biggest battle is because of this: He went in there without expecting any help from the Order, yet, he still goes in to fight the Death Eaters, and stop Voldemort.

This battle, shows Harry's abilities to be a commander. He gets a group of people to trues them, and he leads them into a battle when in all honesty, they should have died.

Well, I do hate many people in the books. Hermione, Both Malfoys, Fudge and Snape come to mind right away. I think the person I hate the most is, suprisingly Fudge. Whenever he shows up in a scene, I automattically know that whatever he says is going be incredibly stupid and he seems to be there only to precent any good for the light side, like Sirius becoming free and Voldemorts revival being known. Although he does piss me off in canon, I think fanfiction is mostly to blame for my hatred of em. I think in the HP series he is slightly smarter than that in which he appears in fanfiction, but even in fanfiction he brings violent thoughts. He is followed closely by Umbridge....that bitch.

There are many characters I dislike in the HPverse. Snape and Draco for instance, but then they are written to be disliked so to an extent I enjoy disliking them.

Hermione and Ron I don't mind so much. Yes Hermione is an arrogant bookworm with delusions of her own knowledge superiority. Yes she is as stubborn as a mule (and as dumb as one) at times. Ron is the kind of guy who does the absolute least to get by in life (and expects big rewards). In a way he is the anti-Hermione (or is she the anti-Ron). But those two I can tolerate.

I hate Fudge because he is an incompetent greedy ass of a politician who endangered the wizarding world.

The character I absolutely despise is Umbridge. She is nothing but a dull witted bully who tormented children in her time in the school. What Snape has ever done pales in comparison to what she did. Snape in all his anti-social behavior never tried to impose his will on a child (he just told them they were useless). On the other hand Umbridge pretty much told the students "if you don't be good little zombies I will punish you". I hate it when someone says that their way is the best without reason or discussion and then try to impose it on others. She was a tyrant and a pure sadistic bitch. I was so disappointed with the way she was dealt at the end of OoTP. I wanted her broken and defeated. I wanted her humiliated. I wanted her to admit in from of EVERYONE that she was wrong. I wanted Harry to walk up to that ugly, half brained, cocksucker, shove the article where Fudge admits Voldies is back, show his hand to her and ask “so who’s lying now”. I wanted her to be forced to write 100,000 times “I will not abuse my position in power” (or something similar) with a blood quill.

She got off too easy in my point of view.

Personally I don't see why everyone in the forum hates Ginny. Aside from the fact that Rowling can't write decent romance, there is little to hate or love about Ginny at all. She's a one dimensional character that has only a few lines in OotP and blossoms into a perfect Marry-Sue in HBP. As far as hatted characters can go you can do much worse. Ie. the anal retentive bookworm.
Rant aside my most disliked character is Draco Malfoy. I dislike bullies in general and spoiled rich brats that are all talk even more. People talk about how he grew in HBP but all he did was fix a fuckin cabinet. The other failed atempts on Dumbledore's life wered done by his imperioused Rosemeta who wouldn't be able to finger him even if she was caught. He's a ponce and I hate how so many people attempt to make him good, or cunning or anything just because he's the only blonde guy to work with.

I agree completly, Hermoine is a bitchy, know-it all, control freak. She always thinks she's right (granite she usually is), she follows the rule book like it's the bible, she can be jealous. You don't believe me? She is jealous of harry's potions grade being better than her's in HBP. Also she is extremely bossy (AKA control freak), she always thinks she's right and thinks that there has been some mistake if she's wrong.
Ron on the other hand can just be Jealous, but everyone gets jealous from time to time. He has been loyal to harry and i believe he would follow him to the death (and inevitablly will).

I think the thing is that we are supposed to hate Snape, Draco, Umbridge and possibly Percy. They are meant to be dislikable characters. In that respect I do like them. They come across as they should. I would hate them as people, but not as a character. That's the difference between them and Ginny, Ron and Hermione. We are supposed to like them. They are the characters that are supposed to bring something positive to Harry's life and be received well by the readers. That's what makes them worse. Not only are they not what they should be as characters, but in general they are annoying people. They aren't good best friends(perhaps decent friends, but not someone I would want to rely on), they aren't good romantic interests and they treat Harry as though he isn't a person equal in there eyes, but someone that should follow their lead and see things their way.

Fleur is maybe the most annoying character to me. Maybe it was that Rowling spelled out her French accent in her dialogue, or maybe it was because she didn't deserve to be a damned triwizard champion because she sucked balls during the entire competition, but...yeah.

EDIT: and then there's Luna. See, and this still goes back to fics. She's fine in the books--she doesn't bother me that much, but in fics she is just horrible.

I like Ron. He's like a lanky Samwise Gamgee.

And with characters like Draco I've been inclined to try and make him better. What I mean to say is i disliked his sneering, punk-ass nature in the books, and since most authors tend to either stick to or overexaggerated this in their fics, I can see why people hate his character's guts. But I want to write him...better. You know like make him stronger and more confident, darker and a little bit twisted.. write him the way I think he is supposed to be as a villain. Worthy of being Harry's enemy so that when Harry obliterates him it'll be that much sweeter.

    I guess that's just me.

to this day i still hate Hermione more than Ginny. its a close race but some how i get really annoyed and often stop reading fics when Hermione's annoying side comes out. Ginny i hate because i just dont understand how someone could go through such changes i such a short span. you hear about her in the second book then all of a sudden you stop hearing about her then again on the fith book she re apears as some firey Vivacious girl who will kill people with her "Bat BOgey spell" i mean its complete bull shit. I think Rowling should have done some research before she paired Harry with GInny. Who knows had she actually known this many people hated Ginny she would never have done it.
Another character i hate is Molly weasley. Too me she GInny except on an older scale. A fat ugly whore who married a looser and just could not stop having sex.
The way she treats everyone especially Harry just makes me want to kill her.

Yeah I dislike Molly as well, she constantly treats Harry as though he is 2, never mind that he has faced Voldemort and lived, something that only him and Dumbledore can claim. By the way, good description of Molly

As for Ginny, yeah that Bat Bogey hex really annoys me. What makes that so terrifying that Harry freaking Potter that has faced Voldemort and the crucatius curse is more scared of that that a good 'crucio'
Also, that Bat Bogey sure did not help her in the Ministry, in a story I would love to see her use it on Harry and Harry just laughs and calls it weak and pathetic, which it is.

Also, since Ginny was used so little in the books, even if JK had polled people, we would probably not been strongly against it, we knew nothing about her so there would be no convincing reason to disagree. I even used to like H/Gin, but HBP was done so badly it just turned me off from that whole thing entirely, now I cannot stand it

k_writer, how dare you compare Ron to Sam, Sam is the perfect example of the kind of person you want to follow you on an icredibly difficult quest if Ron replaced Sam and Harry replaced Frodo. Ron would have ditched Harry the moment Shelob showed up!
