So this is an upcoming series about a racist white guy from our world transported to a different universe where white people are slaves and black people are the masters.

There’s literally no way they could’ve predicted the Floyd riots while they were making this but... damn.

I don't see how anyone would like this. The protagonist is a white supremacist neo nazi with SS tattoos. While the people in the alternate universe are slave owners. There's literally nobody to root for.

 

Lol, who's even producing this? Universe transport CGI looked like from a YT web series from the early 2010s. Is it supposed to be a righteous revenge fantasy against slavery? The opening credits don't seem like they want you to root for the protagonist.

Honestly, I mostly just find it baffling that it's just a palette swap. The slave owners, despite being black, are all European/white in dress and comport, seem to have essentially the same cultural values, and behave the same way. It's hard to tell if the slaves got the same treatment, being essentially white Africans, since the easy tells are suppressed by being enslaved (though I would assume a project like this wouldn't want to associate whites with African culture, for what little that's worth).

This isn't "black people are the slavers", it's straight up "Europeans are black, and enslaved white Africans/other Europeans". And honestly, that feels incredibly racist all on its own. Maybe I'm missing something, but it feels like it's negating African culture entirely and throwing away a lot of really interesting alt-history potential in order to make the US the center of the universe again.

That annoys me, not gonna lie.

 

I don't have much interest in watching the show itself.
But anything that has the potential to make alt-right halfwits lose their minds is bound to provide some decent entertainment in that fashion.

 

From its trailer, it looks like garbage. Seems like it's just controversy bait.

Seems like a cheaply produced show trying to capitalize on the current political climate. Don't really see what's so controversial about it besides the title tbh.
