Yes, where Harry goes to Ank Morpork to help Vimes capture Wormtail, and if he uses magic, he discworld will be destroyed and all that guff. I mean, it's ridiculous.

Like every genre in fanfiction it has to be done well to be able to properly judge the value of it. and if done well Crossevers have the potential to be the best type of story simply because they mix the best themes, the best plots and the best of universes together in a story that is only limited to the imagination of the author.

If only there were more good crossovers. Forget the bad ones, judge the genre on the goodones, the bad ones dont count.

It really depends on the two fandoms being crossed. HPNaruto is usually (90% of the time) done horribly. HPSW is alright about half the time. HPNWN might not be all that bad...

I think a large part for me is how the universes are introduced to each other. After a certain part, the story becomes much like any other fanfiction out there: It has decent writing or poor writing; the characters continue to have a personality or they oscilate wildly from one personality to another; the characters are OOC or they are consistent and well developed; the scenarios are believable or they are not. However, what makes a crossover decent for me is whether or not the author does a good job of integrating the two universes. Are they connected for a logical reason? Can the HP universe work within this universe? Does it add anything to the story?

There are definitely some crossovers I am more partial to. I tend to like HPSG more than others. I tend to hate HP/Naruto. But, really, any crossover can be as good as a pure HP imo so long as it fits not only the necessary requirements for a good fanfic, but also gives a plausible reason for the crossover to exist. (For example, Jeconais wrote a plot bunny/possible prologue to a HP/Tomb Raider crossover that no matter how strange the crossover sounds turned out really well because of how the two were introduced)
