*P.S. We’re getting rid of the Invulnerable Minions monster affix.

Okay, I might be interested in coming back now.

I borrowed my brothers copy, and let me tell you, after act 1 I was utterly bored out of my mind. Thank god I didn't bought it.

Read all the previews. Interesting, but it's still going to be a lag-filled mess of a game and there's still going to be a giant brick wall placed in front of Inferno mode.

When I last logged in, my gear was good enough to let me click my way through the entirety of Act IV Hell with my eyes closed, but I couldn't get to the Skeleton King in Act I Inferno without constantly dying to normal packs.

If you couldn't get through act 1 inferno the problem isn't with the game.

Inferno's retarded incoming damage demanded a good set of ilvl 60+ gear to survive it, but a good solid week of farming Hell left me in ilvl ~50 gear. The gear needed to do Inferno, was only dropping at a decent rate in Inferno. Perhaps I was just incredibly unlucky, but I think it's a problem with the game. Blizzard seemed to agree, which is why it was patched and why Act IV Hell now drops higher level items.

Using the Auction House to get that gear wasn't an option, since I'd spent the vast majority of my gold while leveling up on upgrading the Blacksmith and Jeweler. Perhaps that's my fault for not being prescient and knowing that a system is going to be entirely useless, but I think it's a problem with the game. Blizzard seemed to agree, which is why it was patched and why the cost of both training the craftsmen and upgrading gems is greatly reduced.

I was getting lag spikes in a single player game. That one is absolutely, entirely, 100% a problem with the game and it's a fucking big one too. It's just about bearable in Hell because you don't die instantly, but when you freeze up for a second or two against an Arcane Enchanted Fast Fire Chains Teleporter pack in Inferno, you instantly die. Blizzard don't seem to agree about this problem, likely because they're too busy laughing at their giant pile of money made out of profits from the Auction House.

Or maybe the problem was that I didn't roll Demon Hunter or Wizard on day one and didn't have a whole bunch of overpowered spells or various invulnerability exploits to help me farm with. Incidentally, that's also a problem with the game. Specifically, it's a problem with game balance and one that this patch might help.

The game is broken at the fundamental level. It's the design.

    And the storyline blowed. Badly.

Not bad for 320k worth of gold investment to upgrade every single item slot to Inferno level.

The new patch really did help make it more accessible for new characters to get into Inferno from just the gold they earned playing Normal to Hell.

I'm also enjoying the skill damage upgrades in general. Not being a punching bag feels nice.

Just figured out how much it'd cost to make my build act 3 Inferno viable. Outside of weapons, it'll cost me about 200k-300k a slot.

Weapons will cost anywhere between 500k-1m per, depending on if I dual or 2-H. I want to 2-hand, but dual is way easier to play through act 3

Going through your posts, you were a monk. Funnily enough, monks were broken at release too. Mantra of healing was incredibly overpowered, and people were able to survive in acts with gear much worse than they were supposed to have. Took them a while to fix it too.

This video shows a guy doing act 2 inferno after spending 200k on the auction house. Every single piece of gear except his mainhand actually is gear that can drop in act 4 hell. If necessary, you could farm the amount of gold needed to buy the entire set off the AH in about 2-3 hours without any goldfind at all.

You're simply wrong. Act 1 inferno was not a brick wall. It was difficult, but you could progress in there right after getting through hell. Yes, that meant you had to die, sometimes many times. It was meant to be a challenge. If you found it impossible, that's because you either didn't know what to look for in gear or you had a terrible spec or you simply didn't know how to play the game.

D3 had (and still has) many very big flaws, but being act 1 inferno being too hard was not one of them.

I know my friend played a monk with me in act 1 inferno and he could tank pretty much any pack short of multiple point blank aoe combinations (molten/arcane enchanted/desecrator/plagued/frozen/electrified).
And that was in a 2 player game and in the 2nd week so before any of the act 4 gear was readily available.

I also did act 1 without ever using smokescreen, because even as a demon hunter I could take a hit or two from most mobs in act 1. Once I actually "abused" the game mechanics that allowed people to get act 3/4 weapons easily (and by that I mean used the AH to buy an 1100 dps xbow), I rolled through Act 1 stupidly fast.

I thought that the problem with act 1 was that it was too easy compared to act 2. Act 2 was just a bitch in comparison. Not like it matters, the game was a complete joke after they nerfed the damage the first time. Barbarians were already selling diablo kills and then they reduced the damage in inferno.

I'd still say the game was worth it. I got as much play time from it as I would have from any single player RPG, but I also got to play it with some friends. Then I got to make several hundred dollars back for my time spent (that I proceeded to spend on skins in lol). It's definitely disappointing that it doesn't have the replay value that d2 had, but I don't regret the purchase.

I stopped playing because I realized I had never attempted to progress into act 4 because I was just farming items in act 3 for the sake of farming items.

For those demon hunters who, like me, are tired of their old build:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTvIyrLrySg&feature=youtu.be

Guy just vault with trail of cinders to obliterate Butcher in seconds. Granted, he has some pretty awesome gear, but I was able to do it with my full crit gear(cost me around 300k, though I exchanged some damage with magic find a while ago) after a few tries.

For bonus awesomeness you might want to use cluster arrow(cluster bombs rune) and Rain of vengence(anathema rune) before vaulting like crazy. Smoke screen with chocking gas helps me survive that inevitable one-hit I get from mostly anything.

Speaking of demon hunter, anyone got a build that uses turrets and/or grenades? I miss the damn things.

Edit: I actually had more trouble with normal mobs than with the elites. Since elites respawn in 3-4 monsters, it's easy to round them up and one shot them with this build. When you get a lot of mobs however, it gets a little hard to land hits on all of them without getting a punch to your face.

Are there any decent gold farming patches around, post 1.0.4?

I've got something like 240+ Gold Find (which I'm going to improve on in the future with better GF gear and Paragon levels), and I want to rip the ass out of the game.

Yeah, I'm going to gold whore on the RMAH, but if bitches be buying, I be selling.

    Do you have a bot?

If you're farming yourself it is far far better to farm items, which you then sell on the AH to make gold.

The reason it will always be that way is that there will always be botters out there farming gold, which causes inflation. The "worth" (in gold) of decent items will be buffeted by this inflation; whereas the worth of the gold you could farm will be diminished.

(also, farming gold is a really shitty way to make money. If you're good it might take 3 hours per million, which will come out to about 43 cents per hour in your paypal account. The reason botters do it is because they can have like 10+ bots doing it 24/7)

It's so sad that such a great franchise has been turned into what is essentially another shitty MMO. If someone had told me five years ago that most of the time playing Diablo 3 would be spent farming gold to buy shit from an AH, I'd have been torn between laughing and hitting them with a shovel for such blasphemy.

Well, look at it this way: The AH makes gold have a use than what it used to not be worth shit. :facepalm

I don't know about you, but I remember the days in D2 of trying to trade crap I found in the trade channels. I'd sit in there spamming, while trying to read the other people's spam.

I'd much rather have an auction house than just a trade channel like there was in D2.

    Expansion announced: Reaper of Souls.

Google and Youtube it; one minute gameplay teaser is up as well as the introduction cinematic.

... I have to admit, I'm incredibly disappointed with what I've seen/read so far.

Eh, it's not surprising, considering D3 is pretty bad. In other news, D3 will be on consoles in under 2 weeks. I think I'd rather play the fifteen year old copy of Diablo 1 for the ps1 than play diablo 3 on a ps3
