Well, stories that are 4.4 are so borderline that we've already let some in IIRC when enough people have agreed to it.

 

Anarchy is just being a confusing idiot. NMB asked for the stories missing from the C2, so naturally he listed stories that are below 5 star, without the library link.

So, as a reminder:

Narcotic Effects by Mehetabelo [4.38] was completed a few years ago, so would need to be voted in.

Averis' WIP We'll All Fall After The Yule Ball [4.28] seems to be the only story in the For Review (apart from Nephilim's) really fits the criteria, but I haven't read it, so can't personally recommend it.

The other two he mentions, Out of the Night [3.97] Delenda Est [3.77] can be nominated under the promotion clause. I don't think Delenda Est is good enough, but I stopped reading it a long time ago.

I'm nominating Hocus Pocus, Adele Polkiss by Ecmm [4.18] because I think it's the type of stories we should be promoting, although I think it's closer to 4/5 than 5/5.

I love the idea, I really do. But it isn't a 5 star fic list. You could argue four star but even then there are some that just plain don't fit the bill.

 

To be fair, most of it is older shit and standards were lower back then.

For example, Summer of Change, along with most of Rorschach's stuff, neither of which have aged well.

If we're nominating WIPs with 4-4.5, GL's HP&AC should definitely be in there.

 

What we really need is to go through the Library and down-vote the golden oldies, rather than target them on the C2. But that's never going to happen.

As for the fics listed above, I'm wary of adding any of them, to be honest. The five of us that were sort of responsible for the C2 haven't kept on top of things and there's a couple of us that I'm not really sure are active on DLP any more. That sort of puts the decisions on borderline fics on my shoulders at the moment and that's only going to become 'C2 of fics that enembee likes'.

Ideally, three or four of you will nominate yourselves to help out ;D

Also, jbern... I'd probably argue for his inclusion.

He is a DLP member, after all, and perhaps more importantly the vast majority of the writing he has up was written while he was still active on DLP. If you look into our WBA you'll find many threads by him. Those fics are very much a product of his DLP membership.

Sure, there's something of a personality clash between him and other prominent members, but I don't necessarily see that as a reason to pull his fics. Especially given their popularity in the fandom among the kind of fanbase that DLP traditionally desires to attract (i.e. indy!Harry).

While perhaps many DLP members consider his fics average (though he does have a reasonable fanbase here I think, especially for The Lie I Lived), associating them with this site is, I think, a positive association. Being able to boast of being the site that helped jbern achieve the popularity he did is a fairly nice addition to DLPs credentials as a site which is author/writing oriented, and still encourages writing.

If I were asked to "sell" DLP to some random person in the fandom, jbern is definitely one of the names I would mention when I discuss how DLP is the driving force behind many of the great fics in the fandom (along with nonjon, Shezza, Joe,TheSanti, enembee, Perspicacity, Amerision, nuhuh, vlad, BigD, MS, silens, Swimdraconian, Tinn, GL, VotN, IdSayWhyNot, kmfrank, BioPlague, HeatherSinclair, RustyRed, Taliath... god this site is awesome).
