I also have that problem with the completionist tendencies.
To anyone who has played more than a handful of hours: Is it okay to just ignore crafting altogether? It seems kind of tedious and if it's mostly a waste of time, I want to avoid it.

I kind of agree with this article by Fredrik deBoer "modern computer games just have way too much going on":

I like the game overall, but looting and the inventory are horrible.
Why can't the game just give me auto-loot, or at least gather all the loot into one (visible!) pile after a fight? Didn't they have the resources to spare anymore to give PC players an inventory that is easily managed with a mouse?

Unfortunately, the best gear is made through crafting. Well, as far as robes go, anyway. I've only found a couple of good medium or heavy armor sets.

Light armor just seems to look horrible. Haven't found any Unique Light Armor.

This is probably sacrilege to most RPG players, but generally the less inventory management I have to do, the more I like it. In that sense I would've much preferred if they just gave us a similar system to Mass Effect 3 over all this looting and shit.

And they even color-coded gear like an MMO. Dear God I hope they're not getting the idea that we want a Dragon Age MMO.

Everything about the loot in the game is fine, the only shit thing is inventory limits. It's an archaic system that doesn't enhance the gameplay at all.

You should be able to melt down lower quality weapons/ armour for mats too.

Agreed, in the very least give us a storage chest or something. Or make it so that the pommels, grips, and all that shit doesn't count toward the inventory. I like the idea of melting down crap gear for materials, that's one thing I loved about Skyrim. Or the mods to do so anyway.

By the way, has anyone seen this from the Iron Bull romance? Because it is damn funny. Goddamn does Bioware do great writing.

Hah, that was hilarious. Glad I watched it because I probably would never have seen it in the game.

Searching for loot and then looting it is slow and gets annoying. And the default 60 slots isn't enough. That's my issue.

@Ayreon - crafting kinda depends. For the most part, it's on par with low-quality epics so far. If you're completionist and the enemies fall behind, you can probably craft some upgrades. But on the other hand, I'm level 17, and I'm still using that level 11 epic staff I got from the war table mission. Even the best crafted staff I can make doesn't come close.

Iirc, the devs said something about end-game crafting being about on par with the best found loot?

@Clerith: You can find Tempest in the temple that has some weird time issues i the Western Approach. Best staff I've found so far.

Masterwork Enchanter Mail is the best mage armor I've found that still looks somewhat decent. The crafted battle-mage stuff is just plain horrible to look at.

You guys should try Formal Attire*, the first Tier 3 schematic I got. Utterly disgusting.

Bellum, I got that staff, I've gotten ~five slightly better (~10 dps more). Solas had it for a good while.

::SO I JUST LEARNED THAT FOCUS IS CHARACTER SPECIFIC. Not party-wide. God damn it me. Get those focus abilities for everybody, lol.

Question for you guys, what group did you pick: Templars or Mages? I accidentally picked Templar, it sounds stupid for not knowing but honestly I think I picked a wrong dialog choice or something. I didn't know, I thought you could get both of them but the Templars were first on the way.

On my next playthrough I'll go Mages, so far it's been going good.

Since I'm playing mage myself, mage side. Allies, too. Slightly regretting that. They honestly deserved to be conscripted. I wasn't into the prisoners/slaves thing, though.

Since I picked mages, I'm seeing "Red Templars" all around the place, them being the big bad's main corrupted army. I guess if you pick templars, you see enemy mages all the time?

Just had that scene. My jaw dropped. Very tastefully done scene thought. Hopefully the romance will continue to develop despite "climaxing." I mean I haven't even started the empress part. Just been exploring all the places...

    Hahaha.

It would be much better if they mocapped the shit out of those scenes. I agree in loving how it was done, but devs just can't naturally model those scenes without it looking weird.

Btw guys and gals, if you haven't already, invest in the forward scouting perk. Quarries and Logging stands are on the map as mortar and pestles if you do.

You know, because maps aren't properly out yet, lol

I went with mages. Kind of wondering if I had gone with Templars , would I be getting more mage loot?

I apparently got things turned around. Did the Empress bit before the Here Lies The Abyss bit. Would have been able to finally get Cass Romance a lot earlier.

As far as Inqusition Perks, I put my points in Secrets and Inquisition. That Deft hands perk, and the more bag space, man.

Yeah you would. Humanoids drop their own class loot. Warriors, rogues, mages.

AHAH! Finally found some good robes. Bought them from the vendor in the Dalish Camp in the Exalted Marches.

I got a really good set of elf robes from one of the tombs in exalted plains, don't think it was randomized or anything either.
