Morrigan's relationship with Flemeth is very complicated. There is an odd mix of love and hate there. Yeah, Morrigan is not a nice person; but she is definitely Tsundere in a sense.

Her love for Kieran and her blatant admiration for the warden "He's been a good partner, and a good father." Showed a real softening of the heart. She's still quite ruthless, but she cares about more than herself.

One thing in defense of Morrigan...at least Origins had an "evil" romance option. I'm trying to think of any romance option in this game that could be considered ruthless/evil kind and the only one I can think of has no real effect on the game itself til the end. *cough*
    solas
    *Couch*

I can understand why people would not like her, but she's a great character love or hate her.

Not to mention, her trip with the Warden was the first time she could have grown away from Flemeth's teachings and way of life. As she described it, she was
"raised in a marsh, bereft of contact with the outside world."
Which matches the anecdotes she shares in Origins (the broken mirror, ect).

    ...explains a lot.

All that being said, your experience with Morrigan in Origins will likely still be improved by the Apathetic Morrigan mod.

I can stomach and enjoy complicated, I can't stomach hypocrites.

    Each to their own.

I don't see it so much being hypocritical as it is growth away from the apathetic ruthlessness. Morrighan is a cold hearted bitch at the beginning of origins but by witch hunt/inquisition she has grown to care about things beyond herself.

In the whole romance Morrigan even curses herself for loving the Warden and tries to end it. She recognizes this slow change in herself.

Which is really one of the most awesome parts of the romance. Your relationship has a real effect on the other character.

So I finally beat the game and...yeah, wow. I'd love to have another go at it honestly but I think I'm going to wait for patches, hopefully those come soon. Really hope they throw in a storage chest and/or armory, I've got so much special gear I had to use the perks to get more inventory space just to continue the game.

Just finished too, around 90 hours with virtually 100% completion. I couldn't do the Dalish favour quest in the exalted plains, it bugged out.

Protip for those making their weapons/ armour for their rogue, use the fade-touched item that procs hidden blades on hit, so beastly...

I think I'll only do one other playthrough, picking templars and aceing the Orlesian ball bit.

Save game management scares me though. I feel like I'll accidentally delete my original...

Yeah, being able to name your saves would be nice. My Origins files were all some variation of snarky or meaningful.

I finished recently, 76 hours all told, and it was... enjoyable. Too much busywork, not enough of the main plot.
Corypheus' concept was good, but he fell through in execution. Not threatening enough. I wanted a climactic battle in the heart of the Black City, struggling for apotheosis before the very throne of heaven. He talked all that good shit, and the Anchor was very clearly going to be a way for me to follow him to the final battlefield, and I was actually feeling the hype for a bit there. Morrigan asked my Inquisitor if I would actually do it, given the chance, and I was like 'fuck yeah, I want to see what's hidden away in there! Secrets of the universe, baby!' And then it never let me. Maximum letdown. There was no followup regarding the ashes or any of the 'divine' elements of the plot.
The combat was good, but tactical cam's camera was a pain to use. Thankfully, I never needed to do it, because playing with a Knight Enchanter on hard... isn't. I felt a bit bad being the only one left standing after taking out a high dragon four levels higher than me, but fuck, their AI just wouldn't get out of the fucking way. Varric, you're a great guy, but just because you're little doesn't mean you get to run into the fucking claws of the legendary monster and hope it'll overlook you. I mean, really.

My guys never got killed by physical attacks really, they did stand in fire though. Fire resistant pots make that a non-issue though.

Been looking between the mage specs for which I'd like to play... KE looks boring as fuck. Every vid just as the KE sitting there swinging their psyblade.

I don't trust my AI partners to do dmg, I trust them to stay alive though (and they kind of did in my game).

Which mage spec/combo is most conducive to ridiculous damage? Not interested in 'not dying', which KE seems to do really well.

Necro/ Fire looks promising. Lots of dot and burst.

KE's also pretty good with the damage, just have to spec right. A fire talent for reducing cooldowns when casting lets your spirit blade spam let you fade cloak repeatedly for massive damage, and the constant mana expenditure means if you nab the lightning talent for increasing damage with reduced mana along with energy barrage... Well. You can obliterate things and never die doing it. Plus, flash stepping through an enemy three times, just going back and forth, blasting them with a missile massacre, and then pulling out your lightsaber to cut them down feels amazing.

Necromancer focuses on control, fear and such, though with the walking bomb up, you can take down a lot of low level mobs quickly. You also heal and gain various damage boosts when killing, so it encourages chaining your kills together. The spec is about preserving momentum. Enemies you kill with spirit mark rise up and fight on your behalf, and if you die, you get a similar effect.

Rift Mage is basically the DA2 force mage with a different coat of paint. It plays off of debuffing, and you get a number of boosts to things like damage and mana recovery against weakened enemies, along with a strong offensive nuke on an eight second cooldown. The focus ability is pretty nice for sustained AoE, but targets move and I preferred my Mark of the Rift (ironically enough) to Firestorm for its ability to keep things in one place. Though, in fairness, you do get a vortex ability that can be combo'd with Firestorm or the AoE debuff, but MotR is basically all that in one package.

I think I'm just disappointed that Rift Mage isn't more 'hulksmash' destruction. I basically wanted it to be the Force, lol. Crushing/ throwing/ pulling/ choking etc

You do get destructive power, but the tree only comes with two damage dealing abilities, and one of them is focus-powered. Stonefist is very good, but I don't know if you'd get that visceral feel of power from it.

I messed around with it a little as Solas, meh.

I couldn't mess around with KE though, because that would involve having Viv in my party. Nope! Lol

Take her out with Solas, let the sarcasm flow. It's amusing.

Save game thing not an issue on ps4 btw. You seem to get a completely separate page of saves.

Go read the Combat/Tactics thread on the Bioware forums, Rift Mage has the highest outright dps of the Mage specs. KE has the best survivability. I would link, but I'm on my phone and kinda lazy.

    Also, ya fuck Varric.

At first I appreciated his snark, but having played the first 5 hours multiple times, I noticed that Cassandra would actually make attempts at conversation/friendship and he would be a total asshole in return. Basically the more I grew to like Cassandra the less I liked Varric.

And the little bastard is the only party member to die on me. "Ooh a dragon, let me charge and punch it with my crossbow"

Honestly, if it wasn't for locked doors I would skip having a rogue entirely, as I loathe all of the rogue characters. I can't wait for my next playthrough so that I can just be the rogue.

So finally got this, installed it, got past the first couple screens, main menu is completely black with the music still playing and it crashes. My graphics card isn't enough for it apparently :(.

Why buy new PC games if you don't have an up to date PC?

Or do you not have a console?

Could it be a driver issue for your card?
