So, I just got the healer chick and I'm wasting mana potions like there's no tomorrow. I tried to mess around with her tactics, most reducing the hp% and removing some skills, and it still does not help me much.
Besides, while doing the denerin back alley quests (It was awesome to fight that many mobs at the same time) her mana would run out in the first couple of seconds of the fight.

Anyone got any clues as to how should I set her up?

 

Anyone have a website or some other kind of document about how to build the characters' stats? I'm having a bitch of a time trying to remember which ones I'm supposed to do for which build.

(As always, with these kinds of games, I have one of each major build type. Because I am that awesome crazy.)

 

Str/dex warriors

Dex/Cunning rogues with a smidge of str

Magic/Spellpower mages.

Throw in Con as you plz.

I'll wind up running through all the Origins and char types I think, hopefully it'll have a good deal of replay. Needz randomized dungeons.

I just got Alistair buffed enough Str wise to use the Blood Dragon armor mixed with Juggarnaut armor at lvl 11, and the collector's edition helmet. He went from a middle road tank to a fucking monster with nearly twice the armor Sten or Shale has, lol. He turned into a beast!

I'll probably end up doing what I did with Diablo 2: one of each possible character permutation. I think there are 24 basic (12 male, 12 female), and a shit-ton of down-the-line permutations.

 

Lol. After how bitchy Morrigan is to get favored, I went from a neutral Sten, to "wants to have my babys" affection in about 30 seconds.

Something like +36 from one conversation about how he wound up caged after I retook Redcliffe, a +8 or so from giving him a painting, then another +18 from promising to find his sword. Might of been more, I got all 3 plot line/affection bonuses when I was done.

 

I'm playing as a female Elf Mage. Currently just about done with Lothering, I think. No DLC, since I don't have a hard drive or Xbox Live. Pisses me off, but I'm having fun even without it.

I'm considering Blood Mage for my specialization. Good idea? Will anyone in my party get pissed off at me, given that it's considered evil? I'd like to know beforehand. Unless it involves major spoilers of some sort, in which case I'd rather not know.

Also, I'm still wearing the Mage Robes I got from beating the Harrowing. I've found a new staff, but no new robes. Anywhere I can get some new ones for sure? And do they look stupid, or can I get some cool looking ones somewhere?

 

I keep hearing about how difficult it supposedly is to get Morrigan to like you but am I the only one who had no trouble with it? I just went through all her dialogue, gave her some jewelry and gave her the mirror and that was that 100% affection. From that point on I kept any jewelry gifts I had and whenever she had objection to something I did, I'd just ignore her and then fork over some jewelry and the problem was fixed completely.

Edit: Your fine with the Blood magic as long as you never mention it ever to anyone ever. They will turn on you in a heartbeat and cave your damned skull in. Also the only places I know of to pick up robes off the top of my head are in Denerim at the "Wonders of Thedas" shop, Orzammar in the Dust Town shop and the Magi tower where the Archon Robes drop off of someone.

Also once you unlock it, go for Arcane Warrior, trust me its worth it.

 

Sten is awesome, he's the character more than any other that I've really noticed differences in based on approval.

Oh and on the subject of stats, I'll agree that cunning is the higher damage...

But my level 16 dex rogue has a hundred and fifty defence, if it is possible for an attack to miss, it does.


Duelist is nice, pinpoint striking may have a long cooldown, but it is pure murder. It works with dual striking for insane damage and you can have melee weapon out, activate it then switch to bow for 15 seconds of ranged crits, nice with blizzard or just to burn something down from a distance.

If you want cheap moves, probably the absolute best I've find is to have a rogue scout out an area and then have a mage cast from several rooms over.


Blood mage is nice, but really it's better to pick spirit healer/arcane warrior first because the blood mage is really just all about blood wound, which you need to be level 14 for.(only arcane warriors should ever really cast from health.. which also could only happen at level 14.)

Arcane warrior is indeed OP if done right they can solo nightmare with little effort, but you really have to base the whole character around the class for it to be worthwhile(which means mass sustainables up, then auto-attack) Spirit Healer is probably better if you want your mage to focus on actually casting spells.

As for robes, yeah the selection kind of sucks.

 

I don't think I've worn robes on my mage since I found studded leather armor, lol. The staff selection blows ass too, I went from the newbie staff, to a staff the Dog found for me in the woods, to Final Reason.

Same with headgear for mages, that stuck fucking caster hat with the teeth on it, I just did get rid of it, and stuck it on Morrigan.

 

I bought the Reapers Vestments from Denerim and have been using those and for a staff Ive been using Wintersbreath from Soldiers Peak.

 

Found a way to get a good deal of gold at the start of a game, or any other time, provided you haven't bought parts of the dragon armor other then the plate you start with, if you have Dragon Armor DLC, and are on the PC:

Enable the Dragon Armor, start the game/load old game where you haven't bought any of the pieces.

Sell it for 7 gold and some change. Save game. Go back to main menu. Disable Dragon Armor DLC

Reload game, tell it to force load twice. Game loads. Save game. Exit to main menu.

Reenable Dragon Armor DLC, reload game. It'll be back in you inventory. Repeat until bored.

Edit: It also lets you DUPLICATE THE ARMOR! Wewt. The chest plate especially, with all it's +'s to stats is awesome, but a bitch to buy back at 36 gold. Just go to a merchant you've sold it to after you've reenabled the DLC, and buy it right back for a hell of a mark up, but lets you have more then one set.

Got annoyed at not being able to buy a skill tome I wanted and tried this out, works just fine. The first piece of the armor, the chest plate, auto appears in your inventory if you don't have it. DO NOT do this if you already own the other parts, or you'll just have to rebuy them. It'll work for Xbox as well, but you have to manually delete the DLC and redownload it each time, it'd be a giant pain in the ass versus the 30 second turn around on a PC

Also. A person on the forums figured out how to use some of the preorder DLC that you're not supposed to be able to access.

Run daupdater.exe, it's in the folder you installed Dragon Age to in the bin_ship folder. You can download the above .dazip packages, drop them in the daupdater.exe program, hit install, and when you restart DA, you should have the items in your inventory.

Edit: It doesn't work for Warden's Keep or any of the prizes from Dragon Age: Journeys as they are linked to your account

 

Bashing my head on the desk, Morrigan evidentally gets broken on affliction hex now somehow, cant get the bitch to cast it in her tactics when surrounded by three enemies =/ All I did was spend a point on giving her more tactics slots =/

Edit: Nm fixed it, goddamned tactics slot stacking is freaking annoying. Had to have her cast a normal spell on one of my targets first, THEN cast affliction hex, for some reason Enemy-> Clustered with 3 allies -> Cast Affliction hex ain't working, and neither is Self>Surrounded by for Afflic. hex. Annoying

 

I've already logged over 100 hours on this game... For mages I recommend the Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage like everyone else... Dual-Wielding is beastly for both the Rogue and Warrior.

Arcane Warrior is what you want when you just want your mage to stack the sustainable spells, wear heavy armor, and wield weapons. Fucking awesome.

 

Only 46 hours here, but I read every line, and often reload and try to get the best results out of the conversations.

Yeah this game is addicting as all hell.

 

Does the Arcane Warrior Sword found in the caves during the urn quest helps to cancel the "swap weapon to cast" problem? I had Morrigan learn Arcane to see how good it is after I found that sword(It says that it allows mages to cast just like a staff so....)

And Arcane warriors should use heavy armor? Won't the fatigue fucks up their mp?

edit: In a unrelated note, big-ass dragons and Revenants becomes "killable" once you start behaving like an idiot and get everyone but the tanker to ranged damage.

 

I was trying this at a friend's house, as a human female mage, and I met some Templar guy who apparently has a crush on me. I tried to seduce him, but he just ran off. Is it possible to successfully seduce him, or is my character doomed to not be a slut?
