Watched it with my kids earlier,

They jumbled together a bunch of shit, explained next to nothing, Eragon comes off annoying as hell, lots of plot holes due to the major shitting on the book job they did (read that as the ENTIRE Varden 1/3 of the book)

Eragon gets to the Varden, then BAM they're right into the big fight. He kills Durza by jumping off the dragon in midair. Durza doesn't give him a scar or any injuries at all, which negates... oh.. lets see the ENTIRE ugency/major plotline of the second book!

It ends with him flying back to the Varden after saying goodbye to Arya... NOT going with her to the elves???

Anything having to due with Roran save for one small bit where he says he's leaving is cut out, Brom does nothing while he's on screen, a few seconds here and there is all. Murtaugh (sp?) looks like a total pussy and comes off like the poster child for Emo bastards everywhere.

Saphira looks like a cross between a retarded horse and chicken, and the Ra'zac flat out look stupid.

The whole Eragon/Arya interaction.. ug.

That said, it was still a better book adaptation then the abortion that was PoA and GoF.

I think the main thing that pissed me off was that it was just barely over an hour and a half... you can't do fuck all with an hour and a half.

Best movie of the year? pfft. I didn't even realize this till last night in IRC, but they totally left out the baby Eragon blesses, which is again a major plot bit in book 2

 

God fucking damnit.

How the fuck are they even going to try and make the second movie if they left out the major story devolpments? Like did they plan to fuck up the story so bad that they would'nt be able to make a second movie or did they plan to do it and show these missing plot points in flashbacks?......... Oh NOES! He discovers the big scar on his back while he is flying111!!1

God damnit.... I'm not even going to bother going to see it. I wonder what Mister Paolini has to say bout the movie xD.

With the response Eragon got, I don't think producers are worried about Eldest plot holes, because there will probably never be an Eldest movie.

 

From what I've read, his response has mostly been something along the lines of "rofl fags, I have a movie, and j00 don't!!!1!", or mindless, undeserved praise for the film. It's disgusting.

 

Something else that just came to mind...

They killed the Ra'Zac... there are only two of the fuckers + their flying mounts.

So if they killed them off... there goes the entire town invasion storyline (what the fuck was with the soldiers in the town at the start of the movie???) which means Brom never becomes Stronghammer... meh.

I had forgotten them going to see Brom's freind Jerod as well was cut. I mean shit close to 2/3s of the book and ALL the characterization was chopped out.

Meh, nutso. I take back what I said about GoF and PoA, the more I think of it, this is the biggest shitting on a book I've ever seen. Even Jurassic Park: Lost World kept more true to the book, and they changed nearly everything.

Eragon was a pretty shitty movie. They leave no room for Eldest or the third one to do anything.

 

Of all the movies I've ever seen, the Eragon Movie was the absolute worst movie I've ever seen. I love the books, I think they're great (but I'll admit the first five chapters or so of the first book are kinda lame, but necessary, kinda like being a low level wizard, boring, but necessary for high level bad-ass-ery.).

The casting was wrong (except for Brom, he was good), the movie was less than a skeletal version of the book, Saphira looks wrong, and wtf shadow dragon end of movie fight? Arya looks like an ugly human not hot & sexy elf, and what happened to the gloom and doom ending of the book?

After seeing the movie I gave it a 0/5. The only things rating lower in my opinion are Mortal Kombat Advance and Superman 64, and even then I'd plaay Superman 64 for a whole day before watching Eragon again.
