Regarding the topic posed: I'm not sure I could actually name stories that started tropes, especially since it's probably been a decade and a half since I read them.

All the tropes I remember are things that I now consider pretty lame:
magical animagus,
male veela,
Harry sent to Azkaban only to then get released when everyone realizes they need him to kill Voldemort (setting Harry up to bash everyone),
wrong boy-who-lived,
Peggy Sue,
government mandated marriages between people who hate each other,
inherited non-optional marriage contracts,
super patronuses that kill dementors,
having literally everyone be in a giant conspiracy to fuck over Harry,
soul bonds,
friendly goblins,
Americans having fused magic and technology,
having Harry get Voldemort's memories or knowledge,
Harry getting super powers from mixing basilisk venom and phoenix tears in his blood,
super house-elves,
clinically retarded Ron,
etc, etc.

Earl of the North (2005) and Lord of Caer Azkaban (2004) seem to be the originators of the 'Harry is Lord of Azkaban' trope.

It was a trope that never took off, but was an interesting twist on the 'Harry goes to Azkaban' idea.
