    Challenge #1: The Fate

Summery: The Fate (or precisely The Network) is a crime syndicate based in New York City. But it is not the usual crime syndicate that have it fingers in drugs, prostitution, alcohol, tobacco and firearms. Well, not directly. That just take the biggest sher of it from the rest of crime groups around Big Apple. How it is possible you ask? Why, it is simple. The Network provides two things to the crime syndicates of NYC. First of all - the Network let them live. Second, the Network, does the favour. the kind of favors granted by the Network can't be matched by anyone because they involve magic - and what Network can't do can't be done. They are specialists in the impossible. But don't think that rulers of the Network are just some bunch of wand-waving-wizards who think they are better than muggles. The Network is almost entirely composed from muggles that learned magic the hard way. You ask, what is the hard way. Well, it is the blasphemes way of the Cthulhu Mythos.
The Lords (the front men for the Network and also powerful sorcerers) are people that do the work that the crime syndciate's of NYC ask for. They can't conjure a chair, or teapot, or turn into cat, but they can summon a being that walks through dimensions and can enter any building or place in whole universe in a split of a second.
This is the main people of the Network crime syndicate (they are also Adepts but they are just a bunch of losers that do meaningless jobs). The truth behind the Network is the Fate. The Fate is powerful cult of Outer Gods and their messenger Nyarlathotep - the Crawling Chaos. The Fate is controlled by one men - Stephan Alzis. Well - nobody is sure is he is really a human. Some think he is immortal - he's last known death was registered in 1987 plan crash. The next time he was seen and asked about the plane crash he answered: "Yes, I was killed in the plane crash. Quite enlightening, I must say." Nobody knows if Alzis is really a human or maybe he is Nyarlathotep himself Nobody knows and nobody will known - that is sure.
Any way I am writing too much about the Fate - if you want to know something more about it click here.
Any way, my challenge is an idea I had recently. How would Harry Potter turn out if he would be wisked away form Privet Drive #4 by leader of the Fate and bringed up in NYC most feared crime syndicate ever?

    Rules:
    - Their is not any emo-crap in style of crime-syndicate-that-in-which-everybody-loves-Harry. To tell the truth they hate him. He have the personal interest of Alzis - one of the most powerful men in USA and in the Cult - who wouldn't be mad if a one year child took the whole interest of Alzis?
    - The Fate is composed from sick, evil fuckheads - they kill for fun. One of the Lords (Anton Merriweather) kills for fun and drinks blood for mainteinnig his talent as a musician. The Fate is dangerous place whit a lot of sick and psychotic maniacs and cultists of EVIL gods.
    - Harry must be evil and insane. You don't take part in summoning rituals that summons creatures that should not exists and walk away from it without any consequences. Also - if Harry haven't learned how to kill he would be killed - simple.
    - If you want, you can send him to Hogwarts, but IMO it would be better if he would just stay in NYC, study the Dark Arts there, and was send to the UK, to create it's own branch of the Fate, and there Harry can encounter the wizarding world (Voldemort returned in the first book with the help of the philosopher stone).

The Fate, Stephen Alzis and Anton Merriweather all belongs to Pagan Publish - publisher of Delta Green suplement for Call of Cthulhu RP game.
(I am sorry for all my mistakes in English).

Hmm...sounds vaguely interesting...don't really like the magic system though...perhaps make it more Harry Potterish?

Have the same kind of format (crime sydicate ect) but instead of the whole summoning stuff have regular Dark Arts and rituals...I guess you can't really have that as they are muggles...meh, I'm a firm supporter of the superiority of wizards over muggles, so I guess I'd only be happy if the crime people were wizards doing wizard magic...

    Still, it's an original idea.

Well, maybe I said it wrong. IMO opinion the Mythos magic are Dark Arts. But not just normal dark arts, but very, very dark arts.

Well, if anybody takes this challenge they can change the magic system - it is up to them. But they can't change one thing - rituals and dark magic slowly makes you fall into insanity and also when wizard is uber-powerful over a muggle - he is nothing compered to the awesome powers of the mythos beings, like Dimenson Shambeler, Star Vampire or Outer Gods (weel, they are gods - they can destroy this pitiful planet at any time).

Reading that I jsut have to wonder, where is this going to be different from BadassRaisedindaUSofA!Harry? What would separate it from the type of fic where Harry si rasied in the US cause the author thinks the US is cool, or is the most powerful country in the world or some such thing.

To me, it would seem that you want to take the name Harry Potter, and put it onto a OC from both the HP universe and the Cthulhu Mythos. And really, why use the Cthulhu Mythos at all, just have it as a sort of Voudoun magic or something like that, mixed with wizarding magic.

Anyway, it isn't particularly clear what the plot would be, and it doesn't sound like a particularly good idea for a fic anyway.

First of all. I don't think that USA is so cool. But, the Fate was created by Americans for Americans, so they put the Fate in the USA.
Secondly - the Fate is cult of evil beings form beyond space and time. They also promote nihilsim, insanity and sadism (IMO). This gives us a good starting point for insane!Harry stories.

IMO the Cthulhu Mythos magic system is one of the most suitible for dark arts from Harry Potter universe. Of course, in this kind of crossover we can't make characters loose their sanity after performing simple levitation charm like in CoC RPG.

Ahh, yes. I have forgotten to put my idea about the plot here. I am sorry:oops:
As almost every person on this forum likes Harry-as-dark-lord idea, right? Also, a lot of that kind of stories have Harry turn dark in just couple months and he takes the wizarding world without breaking sweat. Harry usually recruits followers from bunch of school kids or some forgotten cult/sect/group/tax collectors, who have been waiting for Harry for centuries or he's mother/father/grandfather was their leader.
My idea was simple - way not give Harry a way to create his own group of followers. Harry, after being raised by Alzis (how is that possible, if Alzis is always in the journey and he can appear in the strangest places, coming and going as he pleas even if the meeting with someone occurs in the halls of Pentagon or in blood-spattered crime scene, is beyond the reach of mortals) is sent to the UK to start the British branch of the Network. But as the apprentice of Stephen Alzis, Harry is not some insane cultist, but a player. His god is information, his faith is commerce, his religion is the accumulation of knowledge. Just as Alzis. And just as Alzis, Harry's power base and location of the Fate main base is an exclusive restaurant/night club in Diagon Alley, that is also open for muggles. Yes, I know I am taking everything from the Fate (Club Apocalypse - the club of the Fate). Harry uses the club as recruiting ground for the Network. But he's not recruiting anybody. He recruits powerful politicians, leaders of departments, bosses of London muggle underground - everyone that have some use. You would ask, how Harry is keeping them under control - simple. He cumulate the knowledge - and he knows a lot. So just to say it simple - he has a lot of blackmail materials.
OK. You are going to ask, how Voldemort cuts in it. Harry is stile under the power of the prophecy, so he have to kill Voldemort. Also Voldemort makes accumulating knowledge and ruling from behind the scene a lot more difficult. After taking Voldemort out (and geting ridoff of Dumbledore) Harry can, using his influence, take the wizarding Britain in his grasp as an immortal human (he created his own Horcruxes and hid it well - one is in the Celaeno Library on the planet Celaeno and other is hiden in the Ulthar in the Dreamlands).

Ahh, one more thing. If Harry is leader of a cult, he has to sacrafice someone to the cults gods. And the best sacrafice is always a human. And I think, the people here at this forum know about who I am speaking that should be sacraficed to the blasphemous gods from beyond space and time.

now that you have expanded on it, its moderately better, but still wouldn't rate high on my list of fics to read.

Meh...its original, but it sure wouldn't be one of my favorites. It seems like more of a Call of Cthulhu fic with Harry Potter characters, and I'm not too interested in the former.
