I'm still looking for people to join up with. I can't stand the amount of bads running around without common sense or map awareness.

Can play just about any champ role now that I've gotten at least adequate with almost every champ.

    IGN: Prometheius

Just need to unlock Cassiopea, then I have all the champs...

I've recently started playing this game. I'm on the EU server and looking for people to play with and maybe teach me a few things if they've played for awhile.

PM me here or on IRC, if anyone's still playing and interested.

^.^ No reason why you can't play on both US/EU servers. Just download both clients and place'm in separate locations. The EU servers have been total shit recently, so theres been a ton of refugees in the US server.

You should totally download mumble! Its ventrilo 2.0, free to use, much lower latency(like skype in fact), and has oodles of extra functionality.

The reddit LoL mumble server has 400 slots! Address: redditlol.etshost.com Port: 64738

My personal 30 slot server(that you folks are welcome to use) is bear.mumbleboxes.com 36019

Thanks for the info, but usually (I haven't tested with LoL) US servers have a noticeably higher latency for me, which isn't good in a game like this.

Duckslayer22. I play on the US servers though. Just for general advice, the game is made up of a lot of little things. Don't play overly aggressive, don't go too far from towers alone, know who you are playing and what they can do championwise. Lots of little things that you will pick up as you go. Every game is different. Also make sure you pick a champ that goes along with your team. Nobody is worse than the dick who picks a squishy AP champ when you already have 2 others and desperately need a tank.

Thanks, but I'm beyond that basic advice.

I 'just' need to learn all the synergies between champions, items, abilities, etc. When and how to use wards and all that stuff.

Ah. Yeah the more complicated stuff. That you have to decide on a game by game basis and you learn that over time. I see what you mean by needing to actually have someone there, I was the same way and luckily had a friend teach me. I can give you a short example. My favorite champ is Mordekaiser. I always use ignite and ghost. I use ignite because it goes really well with my ult and ghost as an escape/chase move because he has no natural abilities that help him do this.

You can choose summoner spells that enhance your natural abilities or round out your champs flaws. Mord's dmg comes from ability power and not attack damage but I do not use AP items. I build Mord into a tank and I pick my items mostly to counter what the other team is doing. If they have someone who has a lot of attack speed I will get thornmail, etc. I also have magic penetration runes and I pick up sorcerers boots and a guise. That gives me my dmg, my tankness plus iron man passive makes me almost invincible, throw on sunfire and his sunfire-like skill and he is a walking menace.

That probably wasn't as helpful as I would have liked but the main point is just to know your champ and what they are capable of. An example of synergy might be when I lane with my friend who plays Cass. He can poison from far away and they can't get close because I would start wailing on them and since I am pretty durable they won't want to stand and fight while getting constantly nuked.

Also with wards good places are bushes, outside baron, outside dragon, anywhere you think the other team travels a lot.

Out of curiositym why Thornmail? Randuin's would be more teamfriendly and probably useful.

Ideally with a morde in team he'd take a solo lane. He pushes single handedly and farms a bit too good for other non-support heroes to keep up. A carry with support is better for the dual lane. Morde's a great solo top choice if you ever get junglers in your team(Team without solo lane champion really sucks)

When playing against more organized teams the blue & red buff is always a good place to ward as well. Besides giving a possible chance to gank jungler, it always provides an easy chance to steal the buff. The wraith camp can often give an easy gank as well.

Just tried to play on the US server and failed horribly.
Delay was between half a second and 2-3 seconds. Unplayable. :(

Never ever start with Thornmail or Nature's grasp - armor or magic resist values scale better the more health you have.

But yeah, Randuin is better due to the relatively low cost, tons of armor, some health and health regen. And an useful team-friendly active effect.

As for synergies - they don't particularly matter, except early game in the laning phases, when you play against unskilled players. The most important thing is having a well balanced team. One ranged AD is pretty much a requirement - it helps greatly in terms of damage, a jungle champion helps as well as it gives you some map awareness, easy ganks and a second solo lane.

Tanks aren't really a requirement, nor are support champions, as long as you can engage, crowd control or burst damage to compensate.

After a while, you'll get a better sense of which items are good - sometime it is better to have 4 unfinished items instead of trying to finish absolutely your Infinity Edge before beginning to build a second item.

If you play an AD champion, The Brutalizer is generally the best item you can get - cheap and improves the damage you make the most; you don't even have to complete it into Yomuu - unless you have no attack speed bonuses from your abilities or passives - then it is better to rush an Infinity followed by the Phantom Blades.

Same for AP champions, in most cases the best bet is rushing a Rabadon Deathcap as first item - you just need to use wisely your mana (= learn to last hit minions with auto attacks, not your abilities!). If you are not a pure damage dealer - like Morgana - rushing Zhonya (strictly for Morgana) or a Mana Manipulator > Rod of Ages is a better choice.

Item builds also depend of the team you play against - if you have no anti-tank champions (such as ranged AD, etc.) and you play against a team with 3+ tanks, rushing a Deathfire's Grasp ASAP can transform a seemingly hopeless game into a victory.

If you have no champion who can engage well, then you may want to consider making a tanky build with your champion, even if it is not a real tank champion. Annie-tank can make you win if done properly.

Another thing that not many players realize: Never be idle. Always push, don't wait for the enemies, I hate it when there's like 5v5 at the middle lane, not doing anything.

Always have someone push a lane - the game is about destroying enough towers to get to Nexus. Ganks are overrated.

I can't give you more advices than that.

TL;DR: Perfect your last-hitting skills, make your build wisely, have a balanced team, if you see enemies often missing on the map, it means you need to buy wards or play very safely. Play often, and play with every champion so you learn their weak and strong points. Learn to adapt.

    Perfect from the above.

Only one more further concept that I would like to put forth. Comes about in laning. Basically, whenever you're able to push your enemy back to heal, do so, and immediately feel free to waste all of your spells and autoattack to push the lane forward as fast as possible. Then, go back to base and heal up. You'll be at a significant XP and gold advantage over your opponent, since your creeps will die on his tower without killing any of the enemy minions.

*Amended if the enemy hero has teleport, but if they do, just fucking kill them with your own not-combat-useless summonerskills.

IMO, with IE buff, most games no reason to go brutalizer as ranged ad carry. You have a solo lane, you should have 80+ cs at 10 min with a good amount of farm. Normally, red buff-ranged ad carry, blue buff-ap carry. Dragon isn't worth the prep anymore like it was beginning of season 1/pre-season, even last year. Because of this, early game you should be farming, or pressuring lanes(depending on champ). Right now, side laning pushing/bd is best straight imo. Current US meta is ap/ad solo top/mid, jungle usually tanky dps/tank, support/anti carry/Alistar roam, tanky dps/tank bot sort of solo.

You won't see jungle for a bit probably, and won't see roaming for a long time.

I was just trying to give an example, I didn't put too much thought into it. I rarely if ever rush thornmail, the main times I use it are when they have a fed tryn or something like that who is just raping our team.

EDIT: And yeah for Mord I usually farm top if we have a jungler. Again that was just a simple example not meant to be taken too literally. I guess a better more literal example would have been Ryze and Nasus or something like that for the slow and snare.

Very likely true. However, I personally believe that the end-game standby for every AD carry should be IE+Youmuus, along with any lifesteal weapon. Brutalizer is useful on AD heroes who gank and scale well off of physical damage nukes (Pantheon and Ezreal come to mind immediately). But I play many heroes significantly differently from the way top tier players do - I love AD Carry/Tigerstance/Not-Tank Udyr still, for example.

So I've started playing LoL and HoN a couple weeks ago and I can safely say I don't completely suck anylonger.

    At least against bots.

Anyway, if anyone want to team up my IGN is Kthr in both games. I've been playing more against bot's on LoL to build up my champion numbers, but I should be okay against players if I use twisted fate, that chick that turns into a phanter or fiddlesticks(which I'll buy as soon as I get a 3k/6k IP champion)

Question: Back when you were all noobs like me, when did you start feeling safe to try your own builds, instead of the recommended ones? Twisted is the only one I feel safe modfying it, and I don't know if he's just that awesome of a champion, or if I got really lucky the first time I changed it.

Just started playing this game, Redeye108 Level 25 right now. Been playing Ezreal, Teemo, Nunu and Alistar, though this week I may try Scion or Taric. I also want to play Brand, see if he's worth the hype.

As of today's patch Riot has removed the only ability in the game that allows denying (Gangplanks "Raise Moral"). It's now just an insticast buff instead of needing a sacrifice.
