I dunno. Using that logic, she could've buddied up with Ron to get closer to Bill - she'd have to be completely daft to not realize they were related; but she went straight to Bill as soon as she saw him. In terms of breaking up Harry and Ron's friendship, I think dating a Veela would be more than enough of a straw to break this particular camel's back. Boy-Who-Lived fame, TriWizKid fame, and dating a Veela for the hat-trick? If you can't string a good falling out from that, I don't know what to tell you.

The weird thing is, she doesn't seem to work that way. Bill was a good-looking guy, apparently, but other than that was more or less a nobody. I'm pretty sure fanon views of Curse-breakers have been plagued by Indiana Jones Syndrome, i.e. it's probably a helluva lot more boring than we imagine.

 

All this (recent) talk about Bill has made me realize one thing, that the age difference between Harry and Fleur is smaller than that of Fleur and Bill. Discuss.

 

Bill is arrested for pedophilia and Harry is in the right time and place to comfort a distraught Fluer.

If you want completed fics, only four on ff.net are complete, HP/FD, and novel length. I've read (or at least started) three of the four. fledge's story (in the DLP library) isn't bad, though it's a little fluffy and emo in places. Dagger and Rose finished to mixed reviews here. Vertex's piece Harry Potter and Broken Wands is also complete and (if memory serves) simply awful. A longish short story (13k words) that has implied Harry/Fleur is Jeconais's Best Man, one of his better shorts.

Quite a few promising unfinished fics abound: joe6991's Wastelands of Time is outstanding; jbern's The Lie I've Lived is great fun. Heather Sinclair's The Unbearable Lightness of Fleur Delacour is very good, though a little slow to update. Scaryisntit's Sixth Year: The Steps Towards the End is worth mention. Knowledge is Power by "RandomName" was Harry/Fleur as well, but I won't link the thread because I'd like to see it die. Another interesting beginning is Methene's The 100,000 Sons of Maréchal Potter, a Harry/Fleur story.

Good, complete Harry/Fleur stories are about as rare as retellings of the Harry Potter saga using nothing but partial anagrams of "Harry James Potter." (Notice how I cleverly sneaked that self-cite in there?)

 

I don't really know of many good fics. I doubt the list would go much farther than 10 fics if that. Then again I hate stories where Fleur works in the hospital wing or where muggles find out about wizards so that reduces my list of what I consider good Heur fics.

Well it's one suggestion anyway.

On the matter of Bill, he is a Cool (in harry's own words) bloke, with a highly exciting/dangerous job. This tells me Fleur is attracted to the bad-boy, or the adrenaline junkies. Also she thinks his scars are a sign of bravery etc.. which for him is a moot point, as he doesn't get them until end of OotP.

I feel the only reason fleur did not seek out harry in canon, was the fact that she didn't get to experience the awesomeness that is the Griffindor seeker If it were the case, I'd suspect wet veela panties.

 

Who says Bill's job is highly exciting/dangerous? All we know is he's a curse-breaker. JKR never said it was exciting or dangerous, I think. It could be pretty damn boring actually. I mean, Goblin's can't perform magic with a wand, right? There's nothing to say that the curses are unknown and you have to think on the fly to get by them.

Actually I think this one was where Fem!Blaise was a vampire... Ginny became a Succubus... Harry was a Necromancer... and Fleur was the cliche nurse.

 

That's it. At the time I read it it was one of the better fics around. If it isn't abandoned, the updates are at a glacial pace now.

All of the fics Sesc recommended are the ones I am aware of. I can vouch for the ones he hasn't read. Don't bother. Seriously, unless you are desperate, don't bother. Broken Wands had a few good moments but a number of terrible ones too.

The best ones in my opinion are Dagger and Rose, Secrets of the Male Veela, Wastelands of Time, The Lie I Lived and, if the pairing does actually happen, For Wand of a Wand. Oh, and Best Man was brilliant. My favourite Jeconais work.

EDIT: There was another one but I can't remember the name. It had Fleur die at the end and I believe the word 'Kryptonite' in the title, or at least the chapter she died in was called 'My Kryptonite'. Mentioning it for completions sake.

EDIT 2: I hadn't heard of TriWizard Again, Sesc, but after that first chapter, I'm not sure I want to read any more. Harry is uber rich for no reason at all, he has two tatoos, one saying 'Fuck 'Em All' and one with a 'Phoenix clutching a sword wreathed in fire', has a second last name, has lots of muscles and is attractive to women. All the first chapter. I know I did the wealthy thing and the second last name too... except I did the first so a dozen people can live on their own without resorting to stealing and all, and the second because I figured it a necessity due to having Harry become an adult, rather than just to be cool.

 

I think I've read that one... from what I remember... I think Harry in that story had a staff...

 

Well, I'd say that it doesn't matter when you do it because quite frankly your Harry/Fleur scenes are the best I've read. I'm not sure why I like them so much. Meh, if any one is interested in Harry/Fleur smut click here. I didn't see it on the list so I thought I would add it.
