My first ever challenge. An idea i've had for a while, but i'm useless at HP .
Quite a long summary I know

Haunted Warrior's Challenge #1

Summary: A 5 year old Harry Potter is irreversibly sent back in time. He arrives roughly 50 years before his disappearance, at an orphanage. There he meets Tom Riddle.

A Dark Lord appears, and he has familiar green eyes that Tom remembers from a childhood friend.

Rules:
-Tom and Harry must be the same age when they meet
-How Harry ends up in Tom's time is up to you
-They must both be Slytherins
-They must both become Dark Lords, without the other knowing
-Harry must not know of magic's existence until he and Tom receive their Hogwarts letters
-Tom must return through the Philosopher's Stone
-They must be against each other in the war.
-Harry doesn't help the Ministry or Dumbledore
-No new Harry Potter

 

So, Tom and Harry are doing the exact same things their entire lives, and Tom dies the same way as in canon, but then steals the Philosopher's Stone, and then Harry rises as a Dark Lord?

If so, then does that mean that Harry traveled the world searching for knowledge 20 years longer than Tom? And what happens to the new Harry Potter?

 

Something could cause them to break apart in Hogwarts, but then what would it be?

Maybe Harry should only begin looking for information in the first war. Then he could find the Dark Arts he practices more exciting and begins favoring them.That way he'd truely become a Dark Lord.

And as for the new Harry Potter, there wouldn't be one. Dumbledore trusts Neville as the Chosen One because Harry disappears, yet Neville is incapable of stopping Voldemort from getting the stone.

And yes, Tom would die the same way as in Canon

 

Ok, then you need to edit this out if there isn't a new Harry Potter:

 

I dont see why this is all that diffrent from many other stories were harry becomes a dark lord and is against everyone. The only thing that can be interesting is to see harry and tom grow up and eventually grow apart at hogwarts. Should they practise dark arts together at hogwarts, maybe even let lose the basilisk together or?

 

An original idea, I've never reada fic were Harry and Tom grow up together but I have a few problems with it.

In Canon dosn't Dumbeldore introduce Tom to magic when his is still in the orphanage, this can be bypassed since the story is AU but I thought that I would mention in.

If they're both dark lords then wouldn't the ministry me a common foe, I could see a power struggle but Tom is a calculating man so wouldn't he take care of the ministry first?

It seems out of character for Tom to attack a friend of his esspeciallly one that is following a path similar to his, isn't part of the reason he goes dark the mistreatment he suffers at the hands of the other kids in the orphanage?

This could be good if the right author takes it up, I think a more interesting fic would be Harry and Tom taring together the to see some sort of betrayal after they have beaten the ministry.

 

Yes, but I see Tom as someone who is more likely to get rid of the more powerful enemy first. At first Tom could consider that Harry would help him, but then an unathourised raid by Death Eaters would make Harry think they're foes, so begins attacking Tom's forces

True, but their are several ways to avoid this. Like the one I mentioned above, or that Tom finds Harry too much of a threat to his power. Or he just doesn't know it's Harry, until a large conflict.
