I'd say that a considerable amount of teenagers grow apart from their parents, and I'm not even living in the magical society, that was dropped on me at 11 to be sure about that.
I mean why wouldn't you explore the new possibilities?

There is some jade helm jet fuel can't melt steel beams level conspiracy paranoia in this post. Even to simple benign things like why Victor liked Hermnoine. (Coupled with timeline errors.)

Oh jeez in the first line too, Lol. Yes I know she had the time turner in the third book/year.

That said, which book didn't have a conspiracy?

Yes, the aim of the Time Turner was an extremely inefficient, completely nonsensical assasination attempt.

Okay, no way in hell anyone in Hogwarts would keep Hermione's parents in the know. Well, Snape might have wanted to tell her folks, if they had a snowball's chance in hell of pulling Hermione out send to another school, like Salem. Would help make his house look good by taking the mudblood that keeps making them (or at least certain elements) look dumb out of the equation and the abandonment would (theoretically) hurt Harry. [/QUOTE]

Because Snape was always on Hermione's side, like the time when.... Oh.

    ...

You mean that there was an item capable of possession? That doesn't seem worth keeping "control" over a 12 year old for, especially as they don't know it's a Horcrux at this point.

It's not like he loved her or anything.

This reads like a 12 year old's fanfic from 2007 as a way of trying to feel independent from their parents. I have no idea what possessed you to write this.

I don't think Hermione had many friends in normal school and maybe even got bullied. If she had gotten into the habit of lying or at least omitting certain things from her parents even before Hogwarts, it probably just got worse from there on.

They never existed: Hermione came out of Dumbledore's forehead, fully formed.

Pff, the answer for all those questions is obvious. Dumbledore was an Illuminati and the Deathly Hallows's symbol is a disguised Eye of Providence.

Did she form from sea foam or something instead? :p

Well yeah, the muggle parents do all seem to be ignorant of the problems, or just not making any fuss over it. I'm not sure all the parents would pull their children out of the school over these things (since they might have heard warnings about accidental magic that make it seem a little more scary than "some smashing glass", or Hogwarts might not have been presented as very "optional" to them), but I'd expect some sort of a buzz if they did catch wind of the problems. It's likely that Hermione just didn't tell her parents about the problems, yes, but I'd expect at least one of the muggleborn students to tell their parents. Even though muggles might not be able to raise much of a fuss, I'd expect that some wizarding parents are also against their children being taught in such an environment.

That's Aphrodite/Venus you're thinking of. Athena/Minerva sprang from Zeus/Jupiter's head fully-formed and in full armour after Hephaestus/Venus split it.

Either way a French school that doesn't have any immediate psychopaths or racist cultists is better. You keep saying 'might' like it answers the conundrum. If you are almost murdered or disfigured, parents would be concerned. Hell, if most children went to a school with someone who was willing to openly hate you for being who you were most parents would move them. She isn't required to learn magic, but it would be hard for a kid to say no. Unless I am wrong didn't Hermione take regular vacations to France/ have relatives there? She even spoke some French. On a side note we may have stumbled onto a great fanfic what with Hermione either murdering her parents or her looking for attention because her home life is toxic. Maybe even a Beauxbatons!Hermione.

Hermione's parents are muggles. Its very likely nobody gives even zero fucks about telling them anything. What recourse do they have? Answer: none.

Likely the "pro-muggleborn" faction is heavily influenced by demographic reality (I believe this is even Arthur Weasley's first point.) They won't do anything that might encourage muggleborns leaving the wizarding world, like informing muggles about stuff that, from their point of view, is none of the muggles' business.

So Hermione's parents only source of meaningful knowledge is Hermione, who made her opinion quite plain in book seven.

Conclusion: Hermione's parents know squat about the dangers she is in, and Hermione herself lies like a rug to keep it that way. Whatever their relationship once was, reality is they now operate in two separate worlds, and it's Hermione who gets to call the shots.

There was one mention otherwise, but it seems to be the assumption that Hermione's parents (deeply) care for her. In DH(?) Hermione is remarked as having trouble with the Patronus, it being the only case of her having particular, ongoing, difficulty with a spell. Given her expertise in other spellwork the issue would seem to be the "single, very happy memory." What about happy times as a family with her parents?

Studies won't cut it. Times with Harry and Ron are filled with troubles. The magical world is marred by blood prejudice. It seems likely her muggle schooling would lack such a memory (unpopular/loner and/or bullied). She should still have a happy home with loving parents right? Well I would argue that may not be the case.

I only took a fairly brief look through canon but I didn't see anything of the happy Granger family which fanfiction had put in my mind (usually Dan and Emma if that tells you something). Harry turns out exceptionally well with a poor upbringing, the same may apply to Hermione. Here are some little things that could be read into (or easily dismissed since the Grangers don't serve any important purpose).

-Grangers aren't mentioned in the train station in PS (neither beginning nor end, Dursleys and Weasleys both are).
-Hermione's happiness at seeing friends again is emphasised "Oh, it’s wonderful to see you two again".
It may not be anything and yet she went to France on holiday. I know I wasn't always happy to come back from summer vacation, though it was nice to see friends again. Her letter didn't show any interest in the holiday outside her French wizarding studies and her History essay. This might also point to Hermione being left to her own devices. Hermione didn't mention parents or what they've done. She does however mention not only Ron but his family and how she is jealous of them experiencing wizarding Egypt. - ie. The contrast of a 'family vacation' and one where the parents and child each took to their own recreation.
As a side note I would say Hermione (counter to pure-blood centric fics) adapts remarkably well to wizarding culture. This may be because she doesn't have strong (relational) attachments to the muggle world.
-Mr. and Mrs. Granger are described as 'nervous' and 'shaking with fright' during their only time we really see them (that I recall- CoS). Arthur is stared down by Molly to not bother them anymore about muggle matters.
From this I would say they're more like the Dursley's than many would like to think. Not in overworking, underfeeding, and poor bedding, but in that they probably just want to forget there is any magic in the world or indeed a whole magical world. They don't return again iirc. In PoA Hermione is given birthday money- not a shopping trip with her parents. She thinks about buying an owl- communication means to friends. She was also dropped off so she can stay overnight. Again the Grangers are simply unimportant and yet, if you choose to read it in such a way, they aren't writing letters to Dumbledore to attend school, or making excuses to visit Diagon Alley, and they aren't overly fussy about Hermione.
-At the end of CoS Hermione says ‘Your aunt and uncle will be proud, though, won’t they?’ after all Harry's deeds.
I would suggest this might hint at Hermione's thought pattern that if she perform well enough (for her this means in her studies) that her parents will be proud of her. In other words she is working for affection. I wouldn't call this circumstantial performance love. I think a 'well done' or a rare smile like the one McGonagall gives her is exactly what she strives for.
    -Hermione obliviates her parents.
I think this may show that she cares for them, but also that she has convinced herself (or deep down knows) that they would be happier with forgetting about magic, or even her.

So what I am suggesting is that perhaps Hermione's parents were happier not knowing and not having to worry about anything- so Hermione wouldn't inform them and they wouldn't ask. IF they are notified by the school then I would expect it would say that she is currently hospitalized after a unfortunate accident, a known cure to the ailment is being acquired and there will be no lasting ill effects. In other words Hogwarts would minimize the damage and stress that she is receiving the best medical attention. To the Grangers this sounds fine and is all they need to hear. It isn't worth it to travel.

Not visiting or writing doesn't mean they hate her either. But I know of someone who was an only child with well off parents, she had all the good clothes and things a teenager wants- on the face of it a good life. But if she took apples from a bowl on the counter the daughter was berated harshly. The point being that it was all appearances, she didn't lack for any things and yet didn't have the love or affection filled attention of her parents. So it is quite possible that Hermione's parents provided for her (nice room, home, clothes, school, supplies) and took vacations, gave spending money, ate out, drove her places, and yet didn't love on her/show tenderness and warmth. That their lives are more peaceful and happier with having their daughter gone- especially when it means her strangeness (accidental magic) stops, and they can stop thinking about it. The Granger's own relationship may largely be a working one. They may not have planned to have a child at all, and they appear to not have desired another.

Going back to the Patronus- for many people, whether real or altered by nostalgia, their childhood years are a source perfect memories. They may have been bullied, poor etc. but that time playing in the field, or exploring the forest, fishing in the river, of playing a video game with their dad, baking cookies with their mom- and so on. Hermione may not have had happy memories of home because while her parents took care of her they didn't deeply care for her in the ways we all hope parents would.

I might have pushed too far opposite the happy family idea, but I didn't see proof in canon which shows or even tells of a genuine loving affection. Perhaps the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
