I must admit I haven't really played Skyrim but I have definitely near maxed my characters on many rpgs and I feel a strong sense of accomplishment but at the same time it feels very anti-climatic after its all said and done. I then wonder why I spent so much time playing the game! I found this article to be highly amusing about gaming in general. Anyone else feel the same sometime? For example, I remember as a kid finally collecting all 150 Pokemon on the original Pokemon Blue and then just getting Professor's Oak's lame certificate for all that hard work felt pretty shitty.
