During the fight at the DoM, Harry Potter is throw into a side room and his wand is knocked away, and comes to rest under a cabinet. Before he can reach under and grab his wand, a Death Eater follows him into the room. This forces him to take cover behind a pedestal, upon which rests a hammer, upon which is written, and I quote, "Whosoever lifts his hammer, if be he worthy, shall possess the power of THOR!".

Well, not paying much attention to the inscription, seeing a big blunt object in front of him and seeing one of the Death Eaters looking for him, abet looking in the wrong direction, he decides that this nice blunt object might be something useful, for say, bashing said Death Eater's brains out.

So, he tries to pick it up, and as he's a heroic soul with that whole "saving people" thing of his... he's worthy and is granted the power of Thor, Norse God of Thunder... along with about a foot in height, 20 stone in muscle mass, two feet of hair, and a new swank getup thats all the rage is Asgard (or 8th century Scandinavia)...

The rest is debatable, though a here are a few ideas...

All of this is part of a Prophecy that would lead to the return of the Gods to our world.

A Luna and/or Tonks coupling would be nice.

Ginny's horrible, painful death.

Voldemort finds a way to power himself up... such as a BTV like giant demon snake ritual, Loki's mask, or some other thing that would make it so Harry just doesn't skull fuck him.

 

Will you give us points for effort if we just let him skull fuck Voldemort and have some fun with the aftermath of the whole thing?

 

Sure, why not... though you probably need a new enemy.

What about having dumbledore as his enemy? It could be worked into an evil/manipulative dumbledore fic. After all having Harry become a god would certainly not be in his plans, which if that happened could ruin at least 15+ years of work.

 

I like this idea. I've been interested in writing something involving ancient gods for a while.

So i've been thinking about using this plot bunny but i have some problems. This, no matter which way you spin it out, will result in a super!Harry even if you make Voldemort become more powerful (which will have to be done like you said to avoid Harry just smashing his skull in with the hammer) but even so your going to have a god like Harry something not even Dumbledore will be able to stand up to.

Now your point about having the gods returning was an intriguing point. And should i take this up i think i might use it, now you using Thor who is the ancient Norse god of thunder so i take it that the other gods that arrive will be the Norse gods?

I am thinking at the moment if it is worth even having Harry return to Hogwarts? if he has the power of Thor what would be the point? If Harry wasnt going to go back to hogwarts we could have him leave privet drive in search of the other gods...The main problem comes when Voldemort
acquires power (like Harry did with Thors hammer) and starts trying to recruit the other gods. This makes it like a split war- Harry and the gods that side with him vs Voldemort and his gods...This takes the war out of all wizarding control.

Thats all i have managed to think up at the moment if you have any other ideas or something you want to add to my planning feel free and it'd be much appreciated.

 

Well I've read a couple of Thor comics, but sure he's strong, fast and has Mjolnir, but he seems to know (or be competent in enough to use in or out of battle) magic. That could be an idea, especially If you could have say Odin or someone training Harry.

Woah, idea...Sure it's a bit of a stretch but what if the situation was changed? Maybe Ron is the one that gets the hammer (ok not very likely but a good author might make it possible) and Harry is taken in by Loki? Just a quick thought that occured to me.
