    Challenge #1:

Summary: One unimpressive day at #4 Privet Drive, Harry Potter has an Out-of-body experience. Unnerved, but morbidly curious and with quite a lot of time on his hands, he eventually succeeds in recreating the phenomenon.
Being left undisturbed for most of the day, he has plenty of opportunities to travel outside his body. His experiences should, at least at first, reflect happenings in the real world. Spying on unsuspecting people, Harry Potter overhears quite a lot of things that he was never supposed to learn about.

    Rules:

#1. It is encouraged to makes this happen Pre-Hogwarts, or at least before Harry is too engrossed in the Wizarding World's distractions.

#2. Astral Projection should be the only non-canon ability Harry has. No Wandless Magic, no huge magical cores, no shadow travel.

#3. No slash, especially not between Harry and Voldemort in spirit form. :puke:

#4. Get rid of Harry's Horcrux, or whatever is causing the scar connection. It does not serve any purpose, now that Harry has a perfectly functional spying mechanism.

#5. Harry should not become fully proficient in this art until very late in the story, if ever. It takes a lot of time and effort to bend and control the mind. Books written by Muggles may hinder more than help, because of inconsistencies. Many of them may even be scams.

#6. No conversations with dead people early in the game, definitely no Merlin/Gryffindor/Slytherin mentor-ship.

#7. Harry's form is incorporeal. He should, therefore, be unable to affect physical objects, until he has figured out ways to take his magic with him on his travels. No ridiculously over-powered telekinesis, though.

#8. Dream Walking may or may not be possible. If it is, please do not let Harry intrude on canon characters, and become their best friend for life.

#9. This challenge is purely fantastical work, as are any and all stories possibly inspired by it. Whether or not you, as a reader, writer or critic, believe in the concepts mentioned above in real life is totally irrelevant.

#10. Rules are meant to be bent, broken and worked around. But when done without a suitable reason, it just might put possible readers of your tale.

Sounds like a pretty good challenge, and #8 makes me think of Slytherin!Harry manipulating people by knowing their dreams. Say Malfoy has a nightmare one time about... the time one of his father's associates came over and decided to show him how to torture his pet kitten, and Harry intrudes. Harry can then use that knowledge to his advantage, both in knowing who the torturer was, and by manipulating Malfoy's emotions in regards to it.

It got my muse rolling, but I'm an atrocious writer, so we can wait until someone else takes a shot at it.

I probably won't make him a kid, either. Instead I'll probably put him in fifth year, and I'll probably make it so a magical connection formed to Voldemort when Harry was a baby is actually pulling him into Voldemort's dream. It will be his attempt to fight back that will leave his astral body floating above Voldemort's sleeping form.

    Then fun will ensue.

This one made me laugh a bit, considering that I am giving the Notts somewhat similar powers in my story (not exactly Astral travel, but something rather similar, if weaker). But the idea of astral travel is interesting enough. I will think on this.

The sequel to Lady Alchymia's story, HP and the Emerald Tablet (now renamed as 'Awakenings') had Harry learning astral projection.

Unfortunately, the sequel has been taken down as Lady A decided to rewrite the original fic. But she's finished the rewrite, so you'd just have to wait for her to start reposting the sequel.
