    The article says its based upon Harry Potter: A History of Magic. That was about the real world myths and beliefs that inspired JKR. That probably means these new books are not 'in universe' text books (ala Fantastic Beasts or Quidditch Through the Ages) or descriptions of the Potter universe itself. Rather they are about the real world inspirations for Harry Potter.

    So I don't think this is going to shed light on 'how Harry Potter magic works', for those interested in that.
