I still can't believe they cast Cho as someone thats not as good looking as the book describes. I mean, isn't she one of the better looking girls in the school. In that pic I would take every single girl, except Ginny, before her. And her acting is horrible, you can't even tell what she's saying in GOF. I mean, I'm Chinese, I live in Vancouver, where there's already too many Chinese people who butcher the English language so I can usually tell what they're trying to say, but she really takes the cake, couldn't understand one word.

Yeah, and my comments about everyone else is basically the same, everyone pretty much looks messed up and totally butchered by the director.

I hope the picture with graffiti in the DOM is a joke!

Weird. I didn't have much trouble understanding her, and I certainly don't hear people speaking English every day. The subtitles surely helped, but yet, I wasn't struck by her bad pronounciation. I have the hardest time understanding Hagrid, but Cho was okay.

It's not in the DOM, it's in Wisteria Walk, where Harry and Dudley are attacked by Dementors.

I didn't have a problem understanding Cho. She sounded like she had a Yorkshire accent to me (despite being from Scotland). Then again, I've never been to any of the UK, so go figure.

Bah that was the most hilarious thing I read all day. And no offence, it's all true. I think is the combination of a asian face with a scottish accent which throws you off when you first hear her.

Huh, Luna looks like what I'd picture Gabby to have... Odd. Also... isn't Umbride supposed to be fat? And look like a frog? She looks like someone you'd see at the bingo joint...

o_o Neville looks like the guy who played Remus..wtf? And Harry looks stoned, actually, they all do.

Honestly, I thought that she looked okay, not pretty but okay – alright, her face was a bit too chubby, especially with her hair like that, in those robes (she looked better otherwise) but yeah, there are much hawter Asians than her.

I don’t really remember, but in GoF I didn’t think she had much of a large role – I only remember her rejecting Harry, dancing with Cedric, and smiling at him on the train, so if that’s the case, we have yet to see her do much acting, so she’ll face a challenge in OotP…and most likely screw it up. :p

Well that’s strange. I thought her Scottish accent was quite nice, actually, even if I’m not too accustomed to hearing it, I can perfectly understand what she’s saying. And well, when I was in Toronto (the number of Chinese immigrants there is probably roughly equal to those in Vancouver, I think) for a short time, I thought most of the adult immigrants’ English is pretty much screwed up and such, and some didn’t even take the time to learn the bloody national language – but those who were born and grew up there did have a much better developed accent – and Katie Leung was born in Motherwell, Scotland, so her pronunciation shouldn’t have been fucked up. From what I can understand, in her live interview in HK, she could barely speak Chinese – so yeah, her English should have been better than the usual.

Ah well, I assure you that Vancouver hasn’t got the worse of it, what with it being in Canada, after all. The Chingrish situation here will make anyone cringe and the accent is probably the worst sound in the world (I quote uncyclopedia, lulz :D) - international metropolis or not, compulsory English education since kindergarten or not. >_<

Anyways, I would say that most Americans - and Canadians and the British too, I suppose - butcher their own language (omgz, teh netspeakz pwn grammerz!) more than immigrants do - and they don't even have an excuse. :p

Yeah I suppose it's just the mixing of all the accents together that screwed me up.

And I guess I did have too high of expectations for Cho Chang's appearance. I mean, the sight of her was supposed to send Harry's stomach flip flopping and such :p

Hehe. Isn't Evanna Lynch adorable with that little voice of hers? She makes me smile.

I suppose there aren't too many people that look quite like Umbridge did in the books.
Except here in America, where the percentage of people as wide as they are tall is much higher. :)
That chick that played Mimi on the Drew Carey show could probably pull off the look but never the accent. Which I'm guessing is the primary reason they're only hiring people from the actual countries the characters are from. There's like, what, one US citizen in the Harry Potter movies and she's actually from the UK so...
