I'm personally getting the vibe that it's going to be either Snape or Malfoy that offs Voldemort after Harry sacrifices himself to make it possible. I'm leaning towards ol' Snivelly, though, because I just can't see the whole "he was evil all along" schpiel being the end to the man's rather complex story.

I like Snape that over grown bat. I hope he and Harry kick Voldie's ass.

[i]I'm sorry to all of you who think that Ginny is a horcrux but it can't happen, although I can believe Harry is one. I was at Edinburgh for the launch of HBP and meet JK. She hinted about it and when asked in an interview she said it wasn't Ginny.

Also, Snape may turn out to be a good guy in the end. It's been discussed that Snape killed Dumbledore on the Headmasters order. A theme all the way through the books is Dumbledore saying he, himself, was not important. Even Harry was willing to sacrifice him.

My last thought is the Locket Horcrux. Now, it's obvious that the initials 'R.A.B' are of Sirius' brother and the locket is even found in the 5th book while cleaning up the headquarters. Mundungus has now stolen it and has probably sold it of to someone and the trio will now have to find it.

I keep thinking that that really is one, so when harry goes to meet voldemort thinking he destroyed them all he still has the locket, then i can just image harry going "oh shit" :D

hmmmm but R.A.B said that he/she would be dead when he/she reads the message so it could be sirius brother.

its possible...i can even see harry facing voldie thinking he destroyed them all and getting fucked severly

but as likely as being regulus as it is, im leaning on a new character. JKR seems to have a thing for adding characters when they arent needed just so she can kill them

True. I agree that Harry's scar may be the Horcrux which is why Voldemort can possess him so easily, he can use that part of his soul.

What I want to know is how she's going to end EVERYTHING in a book which is 'smaller than Phoenix'. Impossible!

Agreed, it will have to be something like this:

Harry went home to dursleys stayed for a week, met up with Ron and Hermione, went and destroyed the Horcrux, got together with Ginny again and killed Voldemort...

    THE END!!!

I figured book 5 + 6 would be a rush to set up book 7, and THAT would be why 7 would be the smallest of all.

Instead we get book 5 where the whole thing leads up to something any idiot with two brain cells could of figured out (prophecy) and book 6, which seems an exercise in how to write a ton of words... without actually writing content

she should get together with some fanfiction authors then... they could show her a thing or two... though she seems ot already have it mastered...

though the way i understand the series... JKR had only intended to write books 1-3 and 7 skipping 4-6... and the company wanted a series tather than a trilogy... TTHAT could be why they suck so much >__>

Firstly, I have realized that in order to really make a good story, you have to go back to the last good Harry Potter story and re-write the last 3. You can use the same events, but change Harry. That is what I plan to do at least. I am going to start from the end of Goblet of Fire, but rather than grab Cedric's body, Harry panics and leaves his corpse behind.

This is going to spark a series of events in which Harry will be sent to Azkaban for Cedric's murder. From there, Harry will be confronted with Dementors and will retreat. But like Sirius who had an animagus form to retreat to, Harry will go into Voldemort's mind. Voldemort will slow down his plans and be more thorough, because, afterall, the one he believes to be his biggest threat is sitting in a goddamn jail cell.

Harry will eventually be discovered, and Voldemort will practice occlumency on Harry. He will look retreat into his own mind, using the technique he developed with VOldemort and will learn evverything Voldemort knew up until he attacked Harry as a baby. He will learn about the prophecy from Voldemort's memories.

Basically, he will come out a harder, tougher man, who will be less trusting. More angry and less naive. ANyway, good idea or bad idea? I won't be able to write it for a while anyway.

The other thing I was thinking about regarding Regulus Black, is that Dumbledore couldn't get through Tom's defences on the necklace alone (dude was close to death) so how are we supposed to believe that Regulus Black, who was defeated by the Dark Lord, and who isn't mentioned as one of his most powerful followers, able to steal it. I think he was too weak magically (Sirius was no magical giant, and they were related) to be RAB.

I've heard the exact same thing, that it was to be um.. wtf is it a quartet of books i think is the term, and that the publishers, after seeing the demand, asked her to cover all 7 years of him.

The massive movie cash it generates, I'm sure, helped their descision.

As for her getting with ff writers... like I said, tbh i think she already heavily borrows from ff writers. there have been, for years, fics that have been published that mirror, with very small changes, the canon books well before she even says she's started writing them.

Yeah, some of that is the fact that she often leaves what she's going to do obvious if you know how to read it, but several curveballs she's done have been seen in ff way before she published. Coincidence or not, *shrug* doesn't matter, it's all "her" stuff legally.

I sure she is "influenced" by fic writers, but blatantly ripping them off? I don't know about that one.

The book as a quadrilogy makes a lot of sense as Trelawney's prophecy doesn't specify when Voldemort would rise again. THey didn't even need to showthe resurrection.

It would have been a lot better. Hopefully, 7 then will be a return to form (although 4 is my favorite all time book)

5 I actually did like somewhat. I just wish that Harry was more assertive with his future. I mean, he now had proof that Voldemort wanted him dead badly, yet he does no studying into methods of defense. Also, I think the prophecy was a really cheap thing. I mean, if Sirius hadn't died than the end would have been a major cop-out. As it was, it seemed pretty Obvious once you think about it.

I thought Book 6 was alright.
It did show Harry growing up a bit and maturing.
I can't believe I have to wait another two years for Book 7. :x
