I'm a bit surprised that no one destroyed the bird cage. If it's that strong that most of the high level people on the island can only slow it down then how much power is Don devoting to it?

Just like my last comment, i refuse to believe Zoro and Fujitora or Sabo cannot cut through/destroy Birdcage. Just the same that Zoro/Fujitora could just kill/defeat Doflamingo right now, though Zoro never would because Luffy said he'd handle it and Fujitora doesn't want to because if 1 pirate takes out 3 Shichibukai(not to mention friends/not enemies with 2-3 others, then thats more proof the Shichibukai system needs to be abolished in his mind.

It's just the way Oda wants to frame the story. So that Luffy is the one to save everything in the end to set up future shit. He's usually more subtle than this, but its not -so- terrible that i feel like shouting at the top of my lungs "BULLSHIT". But its still a bit cringe-worthy with the knowledge that Oda is better than this.

Bullshit. The first sentence especially is 100% steamy, smelly cow dung.

Blaming stuff on Oda is always an option, but ultimately pointless. You can't pin blame away from the characters and towards the author. Keep it contained to story terms. Otherwise, the only reason ANYTHING happens is because the author wants it like this. It's a retarded argument to make.

Yes, Doflamingo got kicked around. Still, his String healing seemed to keep him together well enough, he never seemed particularly worried, and you are conveniently forgetting that he was still holding back and didn't use the 'Awakening' thing.

Luffy lost the 1 vs 1. Blame it on Oda all you want, that's still what happened.

Edit: As for it being a setup, it was, but I disagree on what kind. It was never meant to set up Luffy for the big save. He had the opportunity to do that, and he failed. Rather, it showcased an entire country of small-fry banding together and saving themselves and the hero long enough for him to get back up and finish the fight. This was the country taken away from the usual damsel in distress role and taking control of their fate.

I felt it was rather masterfully done. Small-fry can matter, even among monsters.

The fact that Luffy seems confident he can finish the fight in 1 more hit, the fact that he knew just 1 more hit would finish off Doflamingo when he was still in Gear 4th backs my claims.

If this turns into a prolongued fight and Luffy doesn't finish him in 1 more attack, then your words may hold some weight, we'll see in 2 weeks.

Then you were ignoring the entire country shouting Luffy's(admittedly his alias Lucy for comedic effect, but they still know who he really is now) name pinning all of their hopes on him. Previously they didn't even know who the fuck was beating the living shit out of Doflamingo. Now they know who to thank via Gatz' speech. Now they know who to pin all their hope onto to save them, Luffy.

So now that they know who to give credit for Doflamingo's fall, that goes to my previous point that it was all set up like this on purpose. And when Doflamingo falls in 1 more attack, that'll be that. You're being blind and overestimating Doflamingo at this point and its quite silly tbh to be so blind to how weakened Doflamingo is right now. It's the exact reason Doflamingo is ONLY having to deal with fodder, and no one semi noteworthy strong like Sai because even he would be able to finish off Doflamingo at this point.

Also what is this, a boxing match? Saying things like Luffy lost a 1v1 (when it was never well and truly a 1v1 at any point in time, guess you forgot snot-face) is meaningless. The only thing that matters is who comes out on top in the end, Doflamingo can't even "fly"(aka walk on his sky threads) to search for Luffy right now cause he's to weakened to do so. So if anyone failed to do anything, its Doflamingo who failed to finish off Luffy when he had the chance to do so. That's not Oda's fault, that's Doflamingo's failure.

And Luffy comes in with the big save like it was set up to be and did what he said he'd do. End Doflamingo in 1 hit.

Was so satisfying to see those glasses broken and the impact was so strong the entire city structure broke in half much like the arena ring when Don Chinjao was knocked out.

Well, if he's serious, I called that shit out here weeks ago.

Otherwise, there goes another admiral from service.

Read the Mangastream translation, it changes the meaning drastically.

Yea, he's essentially banned and will be used to replace Aokiji's role as wandering ex-admiral following their own sense of justice outside the bounds of the marines.

Would really like some clarification on if Aokiji really joined Blackbeard's crew and not just heresay from that report. I could see it going so many ways, though im curious why Blackbeard even trusts Aokiji to let him actually join unless he's that confident in his strength. Kinda like Whitebeard and Ace. In which case, damn lol if Blackbeard can trivialize Aokiji were he ever to try to backstab him like Whitebeard did with Ace, holy shit Luffy's got one hell of a climb.

Mangastream came out and said the following:

This week's One Piece may be a little later than usual, and that is because I spent extra time to ensure all translations were as faithful and accurate as they could be. This chapter was full of dialogue from the Gorousei, Akainu, and Fujitora, all of whom speak with either rather difficult-to-understand dialects or complicated vocabulary. This is the reason some other translations out there are confusing.

It was a tough chapter to translate, even by Mangstream's translators. Some scanlators focus on speed, others focus on quality scans+quality translations.

I think he'll still be considered an admiral.

I don't. He got the Prince Zuko treatment. Who besides Iroh still truly considered Zuko to be a prince? No one. Except i guess the men on the ship, but they were probably loyal to Iroh and did what he told them.

So who will still consider Fujitora to be an admiral? Pretty much no one aside from guys like Garp/Sengoku/Coby. I don't think Fujitora really cares if he's an admiral or not anymore. He's pretty much achieved his goal, which was to shed light on the stupidity of the Shichibukai system and force the WG's hand to abolish it. It's all the sweeter that it was done by Luffy's hand since he's already defeated 2, and now 3.

4, if you count him beating Buggy, which the Marines/World Government know about. 2 Shichibukai he was in contact with resigned, Law and Jinbei. From the POV of the WG, Luffy is the Shichibukai Slayer.

Fujitora is still in the organization, still has his rank and position in the chain of command. He just can't use the bases and presumably has to personally pay for his crew's supplies. You still can't disobey him if you're a normal marine. You think they're gonna look an admiral in the face and tell him no? The very threat of an admiral coming strikes fear in the heart of most people. Just them arguing had the marines in his crew scared. Who will still consider him an admiral? I consider it being the exact opposite. Only the people at the level of Garp and Sengoku would be able to casually dismiss the authority of an admiral.

You're making a lot of assumptions.

    1. You're making the assumption Fujitora even still wants to be a part of the marines.

    2. You're making the assumption Akainu didn't just boot him right out, Akainu is a dick, that would be very in character of him to do.

    3. Again, it's almost a given Fujitora accomplished what he set out to do, the next few chapters will show us but i really think the WG is gonna trash the Shichibukai system.

Also how does continuing to have your position in the chain of command, but not be able to use any naval bases make any sense lol.

If I'm making assumptions then they're based on what's actually done in the story.

    1. If he wanted to leave the marines then he'd have just done so without all the talk.

    2. That's not what he said so I'm not gonna assume that's what he did.

    3. You're assuming that Fujitora only had one reason to join the marines.

What does he need to go to a Marine base for? To resupply, fix the ship, and get reinforcements. All three can be done elsewhere. Giving and receiving orders can be done over the "radio". Pretty much all other needs can be met by his massive crew. Other marines would follow any orders of his except allowing him access to a base.

That chapter had a lot of crazy revelations.

A tension between the World Government and the Marines, who seem to be dealing with internal tensions (Fujitora, Smoker, etc.) while Akainu loses his cool.

Kuzan joined Blackbeard? No idea what to make of that information, maybe he's just keeping tabs.

Kidd's alliance is gunning for Shanks, which sounds very exciting.

I totally forgot CP 0 on the island. Were they targeting Sabo, are they now switching to Luffy? Is Fujitora going to join Sabo? So many possibilities.

This is my point, banning Fujitora from naval bases doesn't do jack shit. So Akainu wouldn't have done it in the first place. You're making the assumption that all that Akainu said only entails Fujitora won't be able to use naval bases. That wouldn't make any sense since it doesn't really do anything which was my point.
