Heh I don't think its a good Idea to threaten a mod Dranco, things.... happen to people who threaten mods...

But I hope the next chapter comes out soon to, before people think another 7 month or so wait comes along.

... Do you have down syndrome, or are you just stupid?

I normally don't use stupid internet acronyms, but in this case, you deserve a good old fashion STFU.

Back on topic, I love this story. Seriously. I want it to have my children, I love it so much.

... Okay, maybe not that much...

But still, it rocks. I especially love how you've been pimp-slapping all the stupid cliches with cold, hard logic.

But now I don't know whether I want you to kill Rookwood or not, because you've made him so cool. DAMN YOU, IP82! Damn you and your mastery of literature!

    Keep up the good work.

I'm tempted to type a comment about Midknight's banstick but considering I'm technically a noob, I'll ignore that.

And its about bloody time someone made a logical fic. I've spent too many nights shaking my head at 'Harry can do anything because he does not know the limits of magic' and blah blah blah. I salute you, oh magestical, sensible, logical and more ontelligent then I, author!

If I didn't finish my cup of tea, I would have toasted you.

This is a great fic, and I do love the fact that Logic is being used to bitch-slap so many tired old cliche's.

Refering to the 'Harry can do anything because he does not know the limits of magic', while I have never seen a good implementation, the idea itself has potential. Of course there would need to be limts but the idea that Harry can do things others can't becuse he has no idea of limts is interesting, relying on the fact everything he does is based solely on his magical streangh. This means no popping through the Hogwarts wards or creating desturctive spells equal to a Dragon Slave.

    But I disgress.

This last chapter was great, and the charecter you have constructed for Rookwood is great. I find myself agreeing with people who cant decide whether Harry should do the ritual or not.

    Keep up the good work

Back to the Future by Narcissa1 has an idea that I think is okay but not grand.
    Spoiler

"Magic knows no boundaries apart from those we believe in... that is a very dangerous idea you support. Are you aware, what disaster that idea could cause, that if the students were thought that way we would have more than one Dark Lord every few years?"

Harry looked at him with his amazingly green eyes before he closed them for a moment. When he opened them again they didn't seemed as young and carefree as they had been during their whole conversation but instead old and tired.

"It is a dangerous theory, I know that more than most - and yet it is more than a mere idea or theory, it is the truth, the only truth. My mentor once told me that the truth is a very dangerous thing and that we have to be very sure if we really want to know it...

I grew up being told that magic doesn't exist: "there is no such nonsense like magic!", magic was a forbidden word, yet around me happened things that were clearly magic. When I was eleven I learned that there was such a thing like magic - and that there were certain rules and boundaries that surrounded the use of magic. When I grew older I noticed that certain of these rules didn't seem to apply for me, I believed that it was just luck or something else like that I was powerful for my age... Then when I was fifteen I learned that I was something special and nothing that I could do would ever change that.

Slowly I learned to think around those rules and was aided by my mentor who had thought me above everything else to believe in myself. The more I believed in myself the more rules seemed meaningless for me, till I discovered this theory... Only with this theory I could fulfil my fate - and live. The duel in which my wand was destroyed was a duel of life or death, a duel that had started even before my birth.

Today there is only one rule, one boundary that I am bound to, the only true boundary of nature, of life: there is nothing that could make death undone. There are so many dead who I would revive if it were possible and yet I know that I could not do it. Whatever I do, I try not to change the timeline and the fate and destiny of the world itself...

Never would I teach this theory, but you have to know that Voldemort is aware of it and trying to breach all boundaries to gain immortality. He has found manuscripts while he was still here at Hogwarts and Slytherin had written that theory down, warning everyone not to misuse it. Yet even though Voldemort is trying to break all the boundaries he knows he will never reach his goal, if he would break his own greatest boundary he would no longer be Voldemort but just a broken Tom Riddle who has lost everything."

    Spoiler end!

Now that the fanboys are through boosting your ego, ip, I'd just like to say good job on the chapter. Usually I detest filler chapters with every fiber of my being, but this chapter was very well written and entertaining enough to keep me from figuring out that it was filler. Best of all, though, you have in-depth training. That's one of my pet peeves: stories who say that Harry trained up, but aren't creative enough to actually show him training. This chapter made this story so much more real to me, unlike others where I don't believe that Harry really did anything because I have no evidence.

Anyways, contrary to most, I really enjoyed the magical threory, which really makes sense when I think about it, and I also enjoyed the potty humor. You fleshed out Rookwood very well, and I'm almost sad that Harry's gonna have to use him in the ritual. Key word: almost. Because your Harry is much better than Rookwood. High-powered, but not overpowered; intelligent, but not genius. He's just a real character, not super and not a pussy.

    Great job, once again.

Yeah, I think Harry's making a mistake getting this close to Rookwood. It is just going to make it harder to kill him. I will be really disappointed if Harry bitches out.

I have a huge feeling he will bitch out. He's getting way too close, and this is probably Rookwood's plan- to get friendly with Harry and then when he has the chance, kill him or take him to Voldemort.

I don't think Harry will bitch out unless it will be more beneficial for him to keep Rookwood alive. I find that this Harry knows what must be done and will go to almost any means to get it done.

Dang! With all these posts I thought it had been updated! :x

How much longer?! Sorry just feeling frustrated.

IP82, maybe you can post the un-betaed version in the "Work by Author" section? :D

Sorry, but its been over a week and a half, and I assumed these would be "back to back updates" (i.e. within 3 days) after the 7 month "hiatus" when I assumed it was abandoned

    :sighs with exasperation:

Edit: Sorry for the blow-up :/Edit

Sorry for the wait, I can't seem to get in touch with my beta (Sree)... He's been really busy this summer.

I don't want to post unbeta'd version, this chapter was written during my worst writter's blocks, it has lots of crappy parts.

Same here. I don't have much to add to all the previous posts...just a healthy dose of "good writing!", "nice job!" and "hope he doesn't bitch out!".

No seriously I liked the theory behind spellcasting, and your ExcrementFlinging!Rookwood is a treat! Makes me almost feel sorry about Harry killing him eventually. Then again...Rookwood's a big boy, and he knew what he could expect the moment he was "initiated" (I assume).
Still, he really felt like his own character instead of an OOC canon one (not that canon-Rookwood has any clear personality that we know of).

Now where was I going with this again?

Oh yeah! great chapter! want more!

I'll just...erm...get my lips off your ass now...yeah...

Rookwood was just a name in canon. Well, there was this one scene where he was half-grovelling before Voldemort, but he have hardly spoken a few lines there.

Rookwoods a good choice for harry's first DE capture. He's smart, useful, and should be easy to dispose of. I actually think that harry should get close to Rookwood, have Rookwood be harry's spy, but then have Rookwood stab harry in the back. That way you could set up a good revenge battle scene and harry could learn a lesson all at the same time..

I also dropped in to say that it was a nice chapter for a filler. I don't like filler's too much, least of all those which are this long. However, your chapter was better than most out there and did not make me skip parts.

Now the only thing which I have to say that you have got everyone's expectations quite high. It will be a tough ask to keep up the quality, both in terms of writing and plot-wise. Best of luck for that and hoping to see more of this :)

Harry will have to do something with Rockwood sooner or later, keeping him alive for information is useful but if/when he goes though with the ritual he will be alot smarter so he won't need him in the end will he? let's hope he forgets any guilty feeling's he may get

This chapter was so good I didn't see it was filler until I read it a few times it was that good.

He will be smarter, however there is invaluable information that Rockwood has that Harry needs, such as that advice about over charging spells and other things. Pure Intelligence will not make him some uber-god. It will make it easier to master things but not to make him instantly level with Dumbledore.

Yeah I know what you mean. Honestly, this fic is recieving more attention than I ever dreamed of... and honestly, more than it deserves IMO.

Just a short correction - the ritual wouldn't give Harry intelligence, but better memory. There's a difference there.

Maybe you can get someone else to Beta it if Sree is too busy? Perhaps Jbern now that he's done with his tests?

I don't know, but in 2 days, he'll have had it for two weeks, which is fine, but which, I think we can all agree, more than enough time to beta something.

Maybe someone else can fill in this time if he's too busy?
