Like, it really has to be said - whoever made this doesn't think that much of women at all. It's really hard to miss that.

I have to disagree. I think Sailor Moon is problematic in TONS of ways, from fat-shaming (and being super thin) to talking about the need to find a husband, but the manga was very nuanced in its depiction of those subjects, and this is based on the manga, not the original anime.

I love seeing all types of women, Usagi might be portrayed as a weak crybaby, but I really identify with that, and don't think it's altogether negative (they have her toughen up, but she is still a girly girl who cries and gets romantic all the time). Hell, they even said "we are not helpless girls who need men's protection" in this very episode.

I mean, there are tons of things to dislike, like I said, calling Usagi and other girls fat, villains preying on female weaknesses (and male of course), maybe the strong focus on love, but I always saw all of that as clearly shitty behavior, with the focus on love sometimes being very believable, if irritating to me.

IDK, there have been elements of Sailor Moon that made me uncomfortable, especially some of the Chibiusa storylines, but overall I think it's a really empowering show. Plus, we have Haruka/Michiru, which was really amazing to me when I first read the series.

Act 2 is out. It is much, much better than Act 1.

    Except for Luna.

    Poor, poor Luna.

Edit: 21st century technology is a thing, if no one else has mentioned it yet. There's a smartphone user visible in the background of Act 1, and Act 2 has a nice little custom laptop in use.

Edit the second: Act 3 preview, and Momoiro Clover Z's Moon Pride music video.
