The 1001 Harry Potter Nights Challenge

Summary: Molly Weasley told little Ginevra tales of the gallant and heroic Boy-Who-Lived to get her to sleep. Tales of Harry's life was recorded in important publications. Fanfiction is replete with descriptions of Flourish and Blotts carrying entire Harry Potter Adventures series.

The Challenge? Write a tale, or series of tales, as if you were a wizarding author writing Harry Potter pulp-fiction or a Wizarding parent telling a child all about the great Harry Potter.

The more ridiculous, the better.

Deadline: Stories must be submitted by July 1st 2013. To enter, simply link to your story on this thread. Entries can be stored in the WBA, FF.net, patronruscharm.net, or Archive of Our Own.

Rules:

• Harry Potter must be the protagonist, and be suitably heroic.
• The story must be suitable for wizarding children/young adults.
• The narrator must be a wizard author/parent (alternately, 3rd person, but containing a parent storyteller).

Accommodation will be made for tales told by a Death Eater parent to their children being of a different bent.

 

Or just forget the deadline.

 

This has been surprising difficult to get the tone right. I started one with Xeno Lovegood, but it fell out at less than two hundred words. I'll keep trying nevertheless, and having just noticed that line about Death Eaters... well, that might just be the missing element.
