I think most people figured out that Entry #4 was mine. I'd like to thank @Ched and @Xiph0 for the work they put in to organising these competitions. They inspire me to write, when I'm struggling to find that motiviation at all these days.

Thank you to all who read and reviewed my story. I appreciate your feedback and that you liked my story. In fact, since I can't comment in that thread anymore, I'll fix the main issue identified with the story right here.

I've reworked the beginning based on all of your feedback:

    The Last Rose of Summer

‘When the first living thing existed, I was there, waiting.’

    ~Neil Gaiman

    …I cherished, you perished,
    the world’s been nightmarished.

    ~Lemony Snicket

So soon may I follow when friendships decay
And from love's shining circle the gems drop away
When true hearts lie withered and fond ones are flown
Oh who would inhabit this bleak world alone?
    …This bleak world alone

    ~Thomas Moore

To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.

    ~ J.K. Rowling

The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully
is prepared to die at any time.

    ~
    Mark Twain

A thing is not necessarily true because a man dies for it.

    ~Oscar Wilde

I don't want to die without any scars.

    ~Chuck Palahniuk

All y'all bastards complaining about these quotes can go straight to hell and choke on my story dong.
I've been putting a quote in front of every story and chapter I've ever posted for 17 fucking years.
    I'm the reason it's a cliche.

I wrote the idea I had. I'm glad people enjoyed it.

The idea of Hogwarts dying is something I should think the entire community runs with. I liked the prompt because it was one that allowed for originality.

Congrats to Joe, and thanks to all the people who submitted something.

Entry #5 was mine, I'm thankful for all the feedback and I'll try my best to write a much better story for the next competition.

Genuinely thought someone was trying to copy Wastelands because that's a popular fic by a DLP author. I guess I was half right.

Grats Joe, you certainly deserved it.

I wrote Entry 2 after I abandoned Entry 1. Ultimately, I submitted those works to boost participation numbers despite their unfinished natures. I was not super inspired by the prompt, but I promised to participate. They’re really outlines at this stage more than anything. I think that might express why Number 1 is kind of hollow, lacking characterization, and emotional impact. It’s meant to be a base for a longer (and deeper) story. It’s an idea I began with, lost interest in, and then started writing fat!Harry.

On that note, I apologize for the heaping amount of errors present in Entry 2. I did a read through, of course. However, I missed a number of things such as Ms. Evan. I feel great shame. If I had spent more time polishing it, I could have been prouder of this piece. My bad on this one. I had fun writing it, but I was unsure of how much it adhered to the prompt. The prompt being little more than a springboard. This piece was also unfinished and that’s why it seems to end abruptly with the Pettigrew joke. I am elated that a good deal of people seemed to enjoy it. Thanks for all the feedback on these. The Voldemort piece will probably never see the light of day again. However, I may polish fat!Harry, make it a proper first year fic, fix the dumb errors and post it in WbA.

Edit: Every time I copy/paste a comment my formatting is fucked. Apologies.
