Not in the least. No progress at all for weeks.

I have a rough draft. If there is an extension, I will be able to submit something.

However I know that may not be a can of worms worth opening.

I think I've just struck gold. ~72 hours to pull it together. Going to have so much fun with this idea.
EDIT: Unfortunately, as fun as it might be, I can't force it. I might have to go for a sub-optimal direction if I want to submit something over a thousand words.

    Thanks Sorrows and Jarizok :)

For better or worse, my entry is sent. I went through so many different concepts for this. I really like the overall idea behind what I settled on a few days ago, and if I could have figured out how to pull it together properly, I would have liked to have done more. But I hope y'all like it, and as always, thank you for reading when you do.

EDIT: Sorry Xiph0. I deserve the reaming you're giving out on IIRC right now.

Do my reviews have to literally be longer than the entries in some of the cases??

Also, a locked sticky in the competition forum outlining the judging criteria for reviews simply would be useful, I know the first post of this thread fills that role, but there does appear to be some deviation from last quarter's where more domains were considered.

How long do we have to read the entries and review them all, also?

Zombie pointed out my grading was a little harsh, so I've adjusted them and posted a review for #4.

Could you please clarify on what exactly comes under prompt use? It seems like a question in a test (no kid who wants to get marked) asked just to prevent failing.

I would imagine how well they utilized the prompt. Was it creative? Did it actually work?

Maybe look at some of the reviews done already and see if you see the commonality.

Did they use the prompt or not? Beyond that use your judgement for the number of points out of 5.

For me personally... let's say the prompt is "potatoes" for some stupid ass reason.

If the only use of a potato in the story is that it's casually mentioned at one point that Harry eats one, maybe 1/5.

Harry has some sort of interaction with a potato, such as he slips on them, faceplants into a nundu, and kicks off the plot. All due to those fucking potatoes. Maybe I'd give it 3/5, because even if the potatoes didn't feature in the plot they were at least plot relevant.

But the potato for some reason has a role in the plot? Perhaps Harry's great-grandfather invented a new magic version of potato farming that is the primary source of Harry's savings, and the entire story is about Harry unraveling this knowledge. It's a story about his family history and the unknown source of funds, and the strange references to potatoes in his family tree that he doesn't know the source of. That sounds silly, but the potato isn't just a plot point it's part of the plot itself. 5/5

Extrapolate for this particular competition - I don't want to set out more strict guidelines than the above. That's always more trouble than it's worth.
