Thanks for posting this! I sent it to @Xiph0 this afternoon, then started reading this thread and realized I was probably too late. Thanks for the update on where to send it, even if they don't end up accepting more admissions.

I'll skip sending mine in - not because of the fluid deadline, but going over it I'm not satisfied it's worth submitting. Thanks for being flexible, guys.

And I'll echo the good news - 10 entries is a fantastic turnout. Maybe simpler or joint prompts are the key.

What a great showing this quarter! 11 entries is I think a record for us. It took me six hours, but I finished reading and reviewing it all.

There were two standout winners in my head this time around - 11 and 4. Both dealing with the Autism!Daphne idea as an explanation for why Daphne is the way she is. 11 was more serious, and sombre and reflective, 4 was light, fluffy and slice-of-lifey.

Ultimately, I'm forced to give the spot to 11. While I enjoyed 4 a bit more, that enjoyment doesn't make up for the beautiful execution of 11, which expands on several well-worn fanon ideas and somehow makes it more than the sum of its parts. It's single handedly redeemed ideas like Natural Occlumency or having an autistic PoV character and is a credit to DLP. A real testament to execution over idea.

4 was quite a light and enjoyable read. I'd probably read it again, although I think unlike 11, it won't stay with me or hit me as strongly. Still quite competently put together, and amusing to watch Daphne bumble through it through the eyes of Harry.

Third place goes to entry #7, just because it's expansive worldbuilding and interesting AU ideas are captivating to read about. It's well put together, though the ending was lackluster (a common theme in the weaker entries this year). The only other closest competition was #1 I think, but...I ultimately liked #7 more due to the action. I will say 1 has some nice prose to it and is a great study in how you can walk a fine line between purple prose and lyrical writing.

    So in order:
    #11
    #4
    #7

    Thanks to everyone who participated.

This is a general reminder for anyone who is still in the review process that voting closes in four days(June 26th). Thank you for your patience and your time.

I actually already read them and took short one liner notes on my thoughts. I’ll read them again and put down something more substantial later today or tomorrow.

Organising a cross-country move is a real bench.

The good thing is I only have three more reviews to go, but it‘s almost 1.30 in the morning so I‘m thinking I‘ll have to turn in now.

I‘m assuming we‘re actually going to get the 26th to finish everything this time?

Based off of submissions closing about 3 hours into the day listed in the opening, I would not necessary count on it.

And given the irritations that caused, I’d argue that keeping the window open a bit longer would be a rather sensible thing to do.

Oh well, I don’t have anywhere to be before 9.30, so I’ll probably post before that anyways.

Also, the results would probably be more robust if it isn't just based on the votes of three people.

(BTW entries 11 and 4 are tied)

    My final score:

    1. Entry #11
    2. Entry #4
    3. Entry #7

It was a very close race between my #1 & #2 ranks, but ultimately the sheer scope and attention to detail tilted the needle in favour of Entry #11.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and I'm looking forward to finding out who will win.

    Phew, I'm finally done.

    Entry #11
    Entry #4
    Entry #3

    Edit: Fixed the links.
    2. Edit: I can't fix the links for some reason. Gonna try again later.
    3. Edit: Hopefully they are fixed now, otherwise I'm giving up.
    4. Edit: Freaking finally. Apparently, I was doing it wrong, who would have guessed.

Can go about another 24 hours from now - that'll put it around 2 am in my timezone on the 27th. And if I'm asleep I won't tally till the morning anyway so could probably sneak in late even with that.

A very good round, stronger than the rounds I've reviewed in the past even if the two prompts weren't particularly to my taste it turned out.

Number one and two were easy picks, and easy to decided which was which. I am struggling over three. Going through all the other entries from a mark down rather than up perspective, I arrived at the third place by deciding why fics didn't deserve it, and from that angle it was clearer.

    1. #11
    2. #7
    3. #3

    1.Entry 11
    2. Entry 4

I'm basically split on 3 and 7 being the second runner-up, so I'm going to void my final vote, unless it's mandatory.

Voiding is fine for this competition - if anyone feels that it shouldn't be then bring it up in the general thread and we can discuss a rule about it.
